Oh Yeh! I am thinking of having a "Pot Pie" build, You have to include a pot pie tin in your diorama somehow, I am not sure how i am going to implement the rules yet. Stay tuned... Smile [:)]

Hello everyone=) First I would like to say that I am sorry for not being around lately, I have been extremely busy, along with deaths in the family and a friend...
Currently, I have been working on my M-60 Blazer, The tracks are all seperate links, and are mind boggling a little bit, its been fun though, I have been using different methods, ie: rubberbands, angled pieces of wood, props, paper clips, and luck), on top of that I have been working on my M43 Bulldog diorama, and my Jeep, although its an old CJ7, I am trying to build it to as closely as possible to resemble my real life jeep, I even got the same color from the manufacturer. Big Smile [:D]
Either way, The group build is on for january first, please have your models submitted by then! Big Smile [:D]
I will be here!

ok I have an update... the OS2U kit is dead in the water... well dead on the floor... my dog knocked it off with his tail when he walked by my bench and although fixable I will wait to repair it...

I'm gonna do a quicky just to finish in time.. and something way out of character for me...

I'm doing a 1974 Datsun 240Z... it was the second car I ever owned.. her name was Josephine ... It's an AMT cheapy kit from Hobby Lobby but when I was building it, under the roof it is stamped Revell Monogram.. at least they could have changed THAT when they remolded it Wink [;)]

This is the first car I have ever built and I figure it might be what I need to get me out of this modelling slump I am in... so far it's fun, easy to put together.. I just can't figure out where the joystick and rudder pedals would go Wink [;)] It's kind of odd being an aircraft/ship guy starting off in a new direction like this...

Well, bit of a setback for the 109.
The colours I needed so I could paint the cockpit, aren't available at present.
So I'm waiting for them to show up.
In the mean time, I'm gonna make up the colour I need, just for this build, and seeing as I have 2 more 109's to build, I can wait for the other paints to arrive.

Tonight I'll be masking the outside AND inside of the canopy, al ready for painting, and some weathering.

I'm excited now, my F4U is almost to the put the wheels and doors on and weather stage...

I've also made an important decision... to slow down my pace and work on one model at a time until I get tired of it then I can switch... none of this rushing home, working till a finish point on one build then pick up the next until the first one is dry. The last few days I have gotten no modelling done and I think it is burn out... too much, too fast.... I have all of the time in the world for these builds so I don't know why I have been rushing!

Right now I have 3 in front of the Fulmar for the BoB build, the only one that is a MUST to build is the HH-65 for my dad by Xmas... (if I can get the scratches out of the canopy from a misapplied bit of sandpaper) the rest I have till Dec or Feb to finish... so I am going to take my time...I'll probably post some pics of my kit with wheels on soon and wait till I am finished to post the rest...

So I'll be in

Oh yeah!!
They can take a while, but the end result, when done correctly, is definately worth every second.
I have a couple of referance books too look at while I'm going, just to make sure everything is spot on.
Besides, after spending 2 months building my last a/c, this already feels like a breeze!!!!!

Not to mention it proves to the 'toddlers', not all old people need glasses!!!!!Tongue [:P]

Well, sarted on the PE for the cockpit, and borrowed a camera to take some pics.

Kinda hard to make out any real detail, haven't primed anything yet, but looking closely, some bits can be seen.
Used a cotton bud for scale comparrison, didn't have a ruler that measured inches close byTongue [:P]

Have added some more detail since these were taken, like trim wheels, oxygen piping etc.

Will post more after cockpit is done and primed.

Jules: looking forward to it! I might have to check out that kit for a 'just for fun' build... I love these Tamiya kits for fit...

Tweety: you can't be too sure with the young crowd, gotta make it clear... You tell them take out the trash, next thing you know you see them on the TV news in a stolen car in a high speed chase with the police... and the garbage is still in the garage! Looking forward to your build also...

I think the aircraft you and Jules are building represent ETO WWII aviation as whole to me... those are the two aircraft that come to my mind when it is mentioned... maybe adding the stuka to that as well....

Now, as of Tuesday, I will finally be free of the beast that is the Avon Sabre I've been building (read-testing every skill I possess!) for the Aussie GB.

On Wednesday I shall start the Bf 109 G14 for this build, and hopefully my new digital camera will be here by then also, so I'll be posting pics like a madman.

The pit is done and the main construction phase is also complete, sometime during the week i'll give it a coat of primer and then i'll preshade the panel lines ready for the exterior colours....
if all goes as planned i'll post up a pic shortly thereafter......Jules.......

hey danok,

I'm doing exact same build for the Naval Aviation GB and noticed the same thing when I put mine together... maybe it's one of those little idiosynchrosies ("wierd things", "unexplainable common occurrence" for you young guys) about a kit... mine wanted to align too low and would have impinged ("blocked", "hit up against", "otherwise prohibited the assembly of") against the lower inner wing surface...

I agree though it is a very sweet airplane to build... I am thinking of getting another and putting the Aires cockpit I bought for this one, but grew too impatient (no need to explain impatience to the little ones, it's in their nature) with fitting it in the fuselage, and built it without it.

We interrupt this banter to bring back to modeling! Smile [:)]

Just an update on my progress so far (no pix yet; hopefully I'll be able to upload this weekend):

Tam F4U-1A -

Cockpit painted, washed, drybrushed. Instrument panel decal slapped on, thne the pit was assembled.

Engine painted gunmetal, then washed w/ black watercolor. Drybrushed aluminum. Whole thing then assembled and fit into cowl. (Impressed with the fit; felt like I didn't even need to use glue).

Landing gear bays painted and washed. Wing root assembled. Outer wing panels assembled.

Dryfitting the cockpit and fuselage revealed a misalignment with the cockpit. Musta screwed it up when I glued it, 'cause everything else on the kit has been smooth sailing.

That's it for now. Hope to get more done this weekend.
