Here's my first Hawk instrument panel. I must admit I've struggled with it, my fine painting leaves a lot to be desired when you see work like waikong's.
I've still got the seats, tub and other panel to do.

Thanks for the compliments guys. As for fine painting, some of those dials are actually small decals, so I take no credit for fine painting skills. Fiasco, I notice there seems to be a reflection on your dials, how did you do that? I tried using drops of future to simulate glass, but the effect really didn't turn out as I had hoped.

Fiasco.... looking at that panel has given me some ideas. Looks great BTW. I may have to try something when I get home. Wont be accurate by any means but I cant look worse than it already does....

DJ, thanks for your concern. Sadly the news Im getting cant get any worse. Im sending my wife home within the next day or two but I have to wait with my daughter till next week because she has and ear infection and cant fly right now. Once I bounce Ill probably be out of the loop for awhile.... :(

Adian,

I am sorry to hear about your situation and I wish you and your family only the best. I look forward to hearing from you when you return.

All right Domi,

I am going to commit to this build and my project is going to be a Silver Swallows Fouga Magister. I have finally got my hands on the Heller 1/50 Fouga and Max decals International Fougas sheet is on order.

So unless someone can find my some Daco decals for the Belgian Red Devils, there it is. From the looks of the projects I'm seeing this is going to be a great GB.

waikong,
I used future however I used a brush and let the capillary action draw the future into the dial in a little pool. I had to repeat this about 5 times before it started to look anything like glass.

Great choice, fighterguru. I think the Scooter was the Blues' nicest mount, just maybe beaten by the sleak F-11 Tiger....

The Hasegawa A4 kit is a great choice for Skyhawk. As for my favorite Blue Angels aircraft it would have to be the F-4 Phantom. I never got to see the Blue Angels or Thunderbirds in the F-4 but it had to be impressive.

I'm going to date myself with this answer but I have seen the Thunderchickens when they were driving F-100 Super Sabres. I never got to see them in the F-105 or F-4E which is a shame. I did 6 years maintenance on the F-4E so I am kind of fond of that jet. Also the 5 years maintenance on the T-38 they flew for quite a few years. Never worked on the F-16 but I saw them just last month. They did an outstanding performance and the weather was beautiful.

As for my GB project the Max decals are on the way and hopefully the Heller Fouga is too.

No problem my friend. I'm sure you have plenty of other things on your mind. I was happy you were taking the time to still participate.

The Heller Fouga Magister arrived today for my Irish Silver Swallows project. What a blast from the past. For some reason I thought it was 1/50 scale but the instruction sheet says 1/40 scale. I wonder how that going to work with the 1/48 Max decals I have coming. I can't find a date on the kit but it's a real golden oldie with raised rivets everywhere and even the raised circles on the wings to mark where the roundels go. The canopy framing is actually molded to the fuselage with the clear portions to be glued from the inside. It comes with a neat swivel base to mount it on. It definitely has be a kit from the 60's. A quick inventory of the kit parts shows that I'm missing the the clear nose piece for the nose landing light and one of the main landing gear actuators. I think I am going to fall back to my Koster vacuform Fouga kit on this project. I will wait to see the Max decals and then decided. Neat kit though. So does anyone have the Fonderie Miniatures 1/48 Fouga for sale?

Excellent! My Max decals arrived for the Fouga and I decided to fall back to my 1/48 Koster Aero Enterprises Fouga vacuform kit. I plan to go down to Hobbytown USA and see if they have the Fonderies Miniature 1/48 scale kit. I saw it there on sale but their prices are so high that even on sale I hestitated to get the kit. But I think you folks are actually going to get me to finally finish a kit. Brilliant!

waikong Thanks the NMF is alclad polished aluminum, dull aluminum, duraluminum and dark aluminum over Plasitcoat grey automotive primer. Works great can be handled and masked over with noworries about hurting the finish.

mkhoot,

Is that the Tamiya 1/72 F-84 kit that you are doing? Your NMF is superb! I have the Tamiya 1/48 USAF Thunderbirds kit in the chrome plated plastic. After seeing your F-86 I might want to strip the chrome off and use Alclad. I have heard it produces a great finish.
