I used Alclad with my last NMF build, but didn't get the nice shine you got. Maybe I ddin't polish it? Or maybe its the base coat? Or maybe I should have polished it down before the base coat? Maybe I just need to practice some more! But still very satisfied with the product. I just got their black base coat primer, I'll try it next time to see if it makes a difference. Can't wait to see your finished product.

ChrisJPB Thanks for your comments. It's the monogram 1/48 f-84G. I wet sand the primer with 2000 grit sand paper before I lay down the Alclad to get a smooth surface.
When in doubt just build it. Mark http://www.ipmslivonia.org/ipms/

Mkhoot,

That's a great kit for the price. I wish there was a great kit of the Fouga. I am going to pop down to the Hobbytown USA as they still have the 1/48 FM Fouga kit on sale. I am not a big fan of this manufacturer as I can get easily fustrated with some of the things you have to do to make a decent kit out of them. Well maybe one day a big manufacturer will want to do a Fouga but I'm not holding my breath. Stay tuned!

Indeed I would not hold my breath on that new Fouga kit. Any scale. I'd place my money on some of the Czech model manufacturers rather than the usual big Revellogramiyagawa type of manufacturers...

Shame really!

Well Gang,

I have gone and done it. I bought the Fonderie Miniatures kit and all I can say is very interesting. Their 1/48 Fouga kit is multimedia with a capital "M". In the box is injected molded plastic (with flash), resin, vacuform plastic (the canopy), photoetch, and white metal parts. A nice looking decal sheet is included with of course markings for a patrouille de france as well as many of countries that flew this jet. Some of the roundels on the sheet look off but I will have to keep my eyes opened for some 1/48 Red Devils decals, right Domi Wink [;)]. So there you have it, Chris' quicky in the box review. I am going to press on with the 1/48 KAE Fouga vacuform kit that's in progress in Silver Swallow markings for this GB. I have seen the Fouga fly at airshows at RAF Mildenhall and I have always been fascinated by this unique "Vee" tailed jet. I have even tried contacting the Fouga Fan Club but I don't speak Flemish and have not gotten any response back. (You don't speak Flemish, do you Domi?)
Good news! My wife has bought a digital camera so I will be getting with it and be able to post so pictures when I get it mastered. So stay tuned.

Happy Holidays Everyone! Big Smile [:D]

Chris, no, my Flemish is unfortunately very rusty... You should ask DanCooper for help. He's from that part of the country, and I'm certain he'll be happy to oblige!

Good luck in your projects!

hey Chris if you cant find the help you need, I work with Gendarmes (sp) -Belgian Federal Police- and they are all required to speak French, Flemish, Dutch, and English.
One of them is an accomplished model builder and help me out when he can. He can probably find out what your looking for. All pending on my return of course.

Aidan,

Thanks my friend. There's no rush. Maybe they don't read english at that website, who knows. No rush. I am surprised that you are still monitoring this GB. Sometimes I need to get to the modeling aspect of this hobby and quick playing on the internet.

Aidan,

If you are out there here's a link for a picture for the GB badge that you made for me. I think it's more interesting that a Fouga landing picture.

Watching this site and builds gives me something to do right now. Im literally out in the boonies in WI with nothing to do except ice fishing and surfing the net. The nearest form of civilization is about 1 1/2 hours drive... I tried that link and get a "you are not authorized to view this page" maybe save the pic to your hard drive and mail it to me?
and Ill see what I can do.

Aidan,

I guess when they say you can't use without permission they really mean it. I'll stick with the pic of the Silver Swallow Fouga landing at RAF Fairford that you made for me.
I'm going to be out of touch the 19th - 23rd of Dec. "But I will return." It's great to have a group of cyberspace modeling friends.

Domi,

Have you been to this Argentine website?

http://www.modelersite.com/Dic2004/English/menuenglish.htm?I+Agree=++++++I+Agree+with+these+terms++++++

Your are building the Frems 1/48 MB 339 kit and there's a interesting article here. Check it out. You have to agree to the terms and move through the website to the aircraft models. I really like this site because the stuff they do is top notch.

You're welcome Domi,

I have never bought any of the pdf files from the site but I might if they do a Fouga. They can build some great models in Argentina and it's a place I like to check for inspiration.

My wife has bought a digital camera so I will be able to display some pictures of my Silver Swallow Fouga. So Stay Tuned. I have got to head to the store for some sanding drums for my dremel.

Happy Holidays Everyone! Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

I just finished my Skyblazers F-84
This is Revell's 1/48 scale F-84 built as a Skyblazers F-84G that flew at an airshow in
Detroit MI in 1952. Decals are from Experts Choice. Only additions are seat belts
everything else is out of the box.

When in doubt just build it. Mark http://www.ipmslivonia.org/ipms/

What an excellent model, Mkhoot. I love those early USAF jets. You have given me more enthusiasim get my GB project completed. Boy, do I need it.

While I'm posting this how about a coincidence. One of the fellows in my model club here is a USAF copilot at the local air force base. He tells me he is the person in charge of the upcoming airshow next year and is asking me who do I want to see at the show. He says the Blue Angels are scheduled to come. Do I dare ask for a Fouga display? To be continued.

I finally saw some UK model mags at the book store (news agent) here. Scale Aircraft Model Int. has the F-11 Tiger in Blue Angels markings and I got to see the other model magazine with the RAF display teams.

Back to sanding on my Fouga, Happy Holidays everyone!

Very nice build indeed. I second that question about the canopy frame, I also built the Revell model once but blundered in the inner frame. Is that tail decal or paint? Again, great looking build.
Merry Christmas everyone.

Mkhoot, what an awesome job. What color did you use for the orange..was it a custom mix? It really is an excellent job, I really like the job you did on the "tail feathers"...really sweet.

Later,
Taz

Sorry to kinda hijack this thread.

Im building a 1:72 BaE Hawk, and I ve noticed that many of you are building the Hawk as part of your GB. Has anybody come accross any good pictures of the cockpit crew seats? Does anybody know what they are called so I can do a proper search for them?

Thanks, and sorry to disturb your thread.

I've searched high and low for good pictures of the Hawk seat. Not many good pics on the web that I've found. Its a Martin Baker Mk10 variant. Take a look at http://www.seatejectcolor.com/seat/index.html
and
http://www.rafvalley.org/Images/Galleries/Hawk/Cockpit/index.htm

BTW your not hijacking the threadApprove [^]
