Good work on the bird, Joe. And fast, too! My models seemingly take forever and a day to get done. BTW, I still haven't started my build yet but I hope to get some time in on it this weekend.

A bit of progress to show. Got the pit completed. Actually had it done several days ago, but kept forgetting to upload the pics on Photobucket. The bird is now pretty much assembled & near ready for primer. I'll keep you all posted.

REALLY. That pit does look great. Did you use the Mike Grant decals on the IP?
I've used them on another project and they looked great.

And thanks oscarduece. I was wondering if it was because of something like that.

So, I went to the hobby shop today, and got insignia white, not flat white. The bottom of my corsair will need another coat of paint. Doh!

I'm still in this build.

Hey is anyone building the 1/72 Testors Corsair???
Whats the detail like? does need any major work to get it up to scratch?

I have that it in my collection and I believe it is a re-boxing of the old Hawk kit. Unless you are looking for a quick build to have fun with and nothing else, leave it where you find it. Cockpit detail is non-existent except for half a pilot figure to fill the space between the canopy and the closed in hole where the pit should be. It needs a lot of work to bring it up to snuff and quite frankly, I think that effort is best put into other kits.

Thad, in one color pic I used as a reference, it shows a red button which I assumed was the firing switch. In truth, the button was much smaller than I depicted, but I used a little modeling/artistic license since everything gets hard to see when the model is all buttoned up.

I'm working on it. Overall, the kit is acceptable. The pannel lines and surface detail are nice. There is no cockpit, and not much engine detail. My biggest peev is that the wheels look NOTHING like real corsair wheels. I'd like to get a set from Squadron Mailorder, but I haven't yet. Construction is simple, my biggest issue is painting (just got an airbrush, I'm learning as I go). It's a cheap kit, and a decent build, but I think next time I'll look for a better quality model, something with scale wheels. I'm sure for most people it would be a quick build, but like I said I'm still learning.

Hi everyone! Checking in with a progress report. I just started construction on mine and so far I've got the pit assembled as well as the wing sections. No paint on anything yet.

A little bit of progress to report on tonight. All the components of the pit as well as the interior sides of the fuselage have been sprayed green. I'll have pics as soon as I can after detail painting is complete.
