Frosty,

Seeing as how Thad is being kind enough to send me some Tuskegee decals I thought I had better let you know properly that I am in for the build and will be doing a Tamiya 1/ 48 P-51D.

I got a bit of a lead about the Tuskegee Mitchells. They did use both the -H's and the -J's, according to the Winter '75 issue of the American Aviation Historical Society Journal. The article is the second of two parts. I'm gonna try and get ahold of the first part but the article did give some good reference books:

Tuskegee Airmen by Charles Francis, Bruce Humphries Pub. 1955
numerous magazine & newspaper articles
Histories of the 99th & 100th Fighter Squadrons AF & National Archives
Histories of the 616th & 617th Medium Bombardment Squadrons - AF & National Archives.

I just came from www.tuskegeeairmen.org If you have not been there, then you really should go! Got my pics of the Mitchells, can't make out the nose art yet! - Calvin

OK Tom i have absoulutely no idea what you mean when you say turqouise fringeConfused [%-)]Confused [%-)]Confused [%-)]do you mean a soft edged border inside the other bordersQuestion [?]

Anyway i added a red border inside the black one's before i read Tom's last post but i think it looks all black now so i might add two red borders with a white one in the middle.........

Edit :::
I just went back and did another borderThumbs Up [tup]

BTW whats the finish date, i was under the impression it was openQuestion [?].......Jules....

Jules:
i really like the badge u came up with... Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]
only one little request, could it have a thin red border around it
2 pick up & accent the red type?

as 2 finish date, i think Darren meant 2 type NO finish date instead of NOW...
the end date is still flexible, because i'd really like as many folks as possible
2 join us.
so, start anytime after February 1st ( or even earlier if u can't wait 2 get started )
& finish whenever...

Jules, Frosty is right I did mean "no" and not "now", that'll teach me to not proof read what I type.

Well, Frosty, count me in too, with a P-39Q. 1/72, of course! I need to find references on the Airacobra they used. Any idea where?

Sorry but I have nothing in the decal dungeon that relates to the Black Sheep.

Darren, I forgot to mention in the other GB thread... if you are interested in building a Martlet let me know, I can forward the set of the decals I have to ya... I think I am building the desert version so if you want the other two versions in the pic you are welcome to them... reason I mentioned it is I can send it with the Future...

Thanks a heap Tom and I might just take you up on that offer, I'll have a look at Aeromasters site when I get home from work (yes I'm being very bad and misusing company resources at the moment). The same offer I made to Thad is open to you Tom, if there is anything decal wise that you might be in the hunt for, let me know.

Cheers

Thad, thanks a lot mate and I'd be interested in the P-51D if that's OK because I've already got the Tamiya kit. Also, if there are any decals you are looking for that I might be able to send back in return, ask away as I've got a pretty good collection.

I'll send you an email with my details.

Thanks again

THREE GUYS REPLICAS makes 2 different Tuskegee Airmen sets,
one w/ just the P-51s (markings 4 four a/c)
& another w/ the same 4 p-51 a/c & a p-40 & p-39 added...
there is a tentative badge at the end of my first post, but there r rumors
afoot of work being done on another design... Wink [;)]
in the meantime, feel free 2 use the one posted if u like it...
