On March 24th, 1945 the Tuskegee Airmen went on their
longest mission, escorting heavy bombers to Berlin &
providing fighter cover...
while on this mission, Captain Roscoe C. Brown of 100th FS/332nd FG
shot down an Me-262 jet fighter.

here r some pix of my completed model of Captain Brown's P-51D
BUNNIE:

the yellow wingbands r painted on, the red wing walk stripe decals
have been added & the antenna is installed. i still have 2 paint the
little red rectangular vent on the nose because the decal must have
come off during handling... Dead [xx(]

i'll b working on the P-51C this weekend...

Hi everybody Smile [:)]. I haven't checked in here for a while now and I just wanted to let you know I haven't forgotten the build (Jules and Tom would kick my butt if I did). It’s just that I am tied up on a couple of other builds at the moment but as soon as I finish one I'll be able to make a start here.

BTW beautiful work everybody, I only hope I can do as well as some the other builds already posted here

Cheers

Well-- an update of sorts. The AM resin stuff I had left over from another build didn't fit, so I went to the spares box-- found some radios and other side panel equipment, took some brass wire and wound it around a paper clip and got the oxygen hose that you see here:

The panel came out pretty good too (OK-- it was also AM- so this one thing was fine...)

Now to add some foil belts and close her up...

I also heard back from Passadena Modelers....the Tuskegee decals from Warbird Decals I had preordered back in Sept are finally done (for INA the Macon Belle)...and because of the long wait, they are setting both Vol. 1 and 2 to me...so I will have a mess of extras if anyone needs them....not sure of which ones though...

Hi folks, I'm here with yet another little update without pics... pretty soon you'll start thinking this built exists only in my head, right ? Big Smile [:D]

Main work has been finished, decaling has began. Panellines have been accentuated with the help of my little son's waterpaintcolors (thanks Jason Wink [;)]).

About the decals ; is anyone else using kit-decals from Academy here ? Personally I find them thick and hard. Even after being treated with Sol/Set for three or four times they still don't stick to the leading edge of the wings, I'm holding my heart for when I put on the checker pattern at the nose.

I hope to get some pics online tomorrow, I can't guarantee that however, it will depend on the availability of Pat's computer, where I can use the cardreader from her printer to get my pics online. But these days, it's hard to get her off the pc when she's playing World of Warcraft Big Smile [:D]

Little update on my stang (no pics at the moment since my dog has been chewing my USB cable Sad [:(] ).

My little stang has gotten it's nmf and the red parts, next step will be adding a few pannels in a different schade (basic is polished aluminium, the "some" pannels will be aluminium). The wheelwells have been sprayed interior green and are waiting some highlighting (the aluminium tubes runnen in the wells).

First I attached the topsides of the wings to the fuselage, and afterwards I placed the 1-piece wingbottom.

The white line you see at the wingroot is strip styrene that I used to fill the gap...

and another view...

It's been a while since I reported in here. But here is what I have ; the fuselage of my 1/72 Stang is assembled, wings have been added, as have the tail and tailplanes.
I'll post a pic tomorrow, before painting it.
For the nmf, I'll be using Humbroll Polished Aluminium and Aluminium, bot colors in their "Metal Cote" range.
I haven't been able to find the right Red from Humbroll yet, and I won't be able to get MM- paint for a couple of weeks.

OK-- the MilkJug is finished!! I must say- this Tamiya kit in particular was a treat to build-- everything fit like a puzzle (well-- excpet maybe the canopy!) While the color scheme was based on hard evidence (crew chief accounts)- some of these markings, like the squadron insignia is purely hypothetical. I've seen pics of 99th FS pilots with their insignia on the plane, so I did the same for the 301st!

And a closeup of the insignia:

Progress on my P-51D, I have sprayed the allclad on which came out good and have now painted on the olive drab antiglare panel on but thats about as far as i can go until i get the decals from Tom cause i have no idea what the rest of the A/C looks like especially where the red tail starts or whether or not it carries the yellow stripes on the wings, so as soon as i get that info i'll finish it offThumbs Up [tup]

Jules:
