OK-- I am finished! :) Barring a few exhaust pipes that I had set aside on my work bench and which were literally swept up by my lovely wife, here is the Peashooter. Joe-- I wasn't sure whether I should post the finished builds or if you wanted us to wait until December to post these-- if it's the latter- let me know and I will delete these right away.

I had thought I would leave it glossy since technically these were pre-war aircraft and so they were typically in better shape....but it may be too glossy?? Opinions??

Yeah Mike i have the Eduard 1/48 Sopwith Triplane in the stash that i can't wait to get in to, I've never attempted anything more than the normal WWII type of rigging so it should be an interesting experienceThumbs Up [tup]

Actually Mike the rigging is not that extensive on the tripe, certainly less than what i imagined, It's the Resin and PE that i think i'll find the most challenging, but if all goes well I'm planning on doing the Se5a and the Airco DH2 as well which do have a quite extensive amount of rigging.......

Nice Peashooter and Zeke guys....

No building done this week, had to help move family who were down in Houston, then also putting in 60 hours at work.

Now that is one clean looking Zero there!

You just gotta love the smooth lines of the early Zekes. Great job.

Thanks Jeeves, Scott and CJ - this was a fun build. I never get tired of building Trumpeter models. Here it is finished and now I have to find another project.

:::Progress Report:::
Well after try to hand mutilate the IP of my Kate and failing badly I have opted for one of the decals provided, which after many coats of MicroSet actually snuggled down fairly well. Next stop will be to detail paint the rest of the cockpit and then wash it.

Cheers

an update from me. she is decalled. except for the nose. there was a three line decal similar to the ones on the wings and fuse but it shattered when i tried to get it into position. i have had no luck with trying to replicate it with paint. may have to go without.

but pics.

to be quite honest these decals stink. they are difficult to work with and seem to want to come apart. when they hit the model they adhere almost like glue and are very difficult to get into position. i used a pencil to highlight the panel lines again. i kind of like that look.

again thankyou for all the kind words.

Looks good so far JoeThumbs Up [tup] bummer about the decals, i can see a little wrinkling on the rudder but the rest look ok...Decaling can be a real chore and to be honest i paint my rudders and fueselage bands now, i find it's less stressfull than wrestling stubborn decals into place..............

I hear ya Joe, I just a had a very frustrating evening putting some invasion stripe decals on a beaufighter. They ripped, shredded, stuck and wrinkled like nobody's business. ugh! At least the rest of the decals seem to be going on nicer. I had the starboard wing stripes stick as soon as it hit the model, it ripped as I was trying to move it into the correct position, now I have a chunk of a white stripe missing. I was quite surprised the paint wasn't peeling of the walls of my basement with the kind words I was uttering!

Otherwise your p-36 is looking good, I like the look of the pencil lines too! great job. I will get at my zero soon!

Joe - it is coming together quite well. I know what a decal problem can do for what has been a great build. The decals on my George in the Japanese A/C GB were so trashy I had to make my own. Looking forward to seeing it done.

Hey yall! I'm back from lovely Hurricane Rita and got my kit today courtesy of Hobby Lobby's 40% off anything in the store sale!

I am building an F3F which was in Pearl as a trainer in Dec 1941. If I can find decals for it tht is wonderful but if not I might have to hodgepodge them... I am getting a P-51 I am doing for a kid off the desk as we speak then I will start... it is the AM F3F and it looks great in the box!!!

Okay, I finally got some good progress on my zero. I've been concentrating on my Canadian GB Beaufighter and I'm waiting for some future to dry so I got going on this one again. I got the seatbelts on and the cp in the fuselage and then put the wings on, I even painted the cowling (though in the last pic I had just tacked it on before I painted). Does anyone know what the colour is supposed be on the back side of the propellers?

Jay,

The back side is flat black to prevent sun reflection. Good looking start.
