hey Joe I checked on some things and the Kate had a front seat like the Zero ( All holyer than the popeLaugh [(-D]) seriously the B5n Kate series had their pilot seats with the holes in the back and front of the seat just like the zero. I am getting back on the Val's had to stop for a bit to work on a F-16 Thunderbird model.

thanks all of you for the kind words... thjese decals are giving me fits... they just won't snug down good... I am on about coat 15 of Microsol and they are finally getting snug to the body... hopefully sometime this week and before I use the whole bottle of Microsol they will sit down... hoping to get some work on the exhausts and sighting tube done today and MAYBE fiddle with the braces a bit...

I'm glad I graduated highschool many moons ago but you do know homework doesn't mean you have to do it at home you can do it at study hall.

ok the P-26 has become a paint drone now... all the decals remaining have pretty much disintegrated on hitting the water... it's almost like half the sheet got moist and the other half dry rotted... wierd... I am ordering another one today or tomorrow so should have it next week...

Also I am using this one as practice on mounting the bracing... I realize now since I am using sprue strips I ***CAN*** glue them inside the wing before closing them then inside the body once I attach the wings to the body. (and before using the Alclad) as they were fairly close to the aluminum color of the body anyway... I could just run a paint brush down them with a slightly darker shade of aluminum once closed. the only thread involved would be between the landing gear... so that is put on after painting anyway...

oh well, off to catch the greatmodels sale so I can get it cheap..

yeah Jules.. I didin't notice ANY early war decals in 1/32, I'll have another look today... it's ok though there's some things I would do different this time... including using future as my base on the entire model this time... and securing the styrene strips to the wings before I close the halves etc...

It really is a bit striking compared to my other kits though... all bright silver with a gloss red cowl... so I definitely want to redo this.. I might just get the Academy 1/48 one so it stays in range with the other models I have...

One word of caution on the Academy kit-- the exhaust stubs on the engine are separate pieces-- and I would suggest attaching them after all is said and done. I glued all of mine on first- and then when I tried to wrestle the two piece cowling together- I ended up popping 4 of them off-- still have them thank goodness-- but still kind of annoying.

I have another tip for the metallic prop-- I used a Tamiya Silver paint marker and am quite pleased with the results-- as much as I love using Alclad-- it can be a pain at times-- and just coloring with the marker was much easier...

Jules - I did it for the peashooter prop, I'll get another pic of it tonight or tomorrow off the model. I used MM Chrome Silver for it and MAN does it shine!!! I'm sold on the future under metallics now...

Mike - the exhausts for the 1/32 Hasegawa are the same way, I left them off by mistake (instructions fell on the floor and when I picked them up I was on the next page and didn't know it) but after closing the cowl halves I realized it was to my benefit... good, looks like the Academy kit goes together just like the Hasegawa.. EASY... yours is looking good... can't wait to get mine and start over!

Hmmm i really like the look of the Peashooter, in fact i'm taking a liking to prewar but still in service at the outbreak of war type of fighter, I already have the Academy I-16 and the Peashooter is on the hitlist but one i also like is the forerunner to the Zero the A5M Claude, do any of you fellas know if a model exists of this typeQuestion [?]

Jules I know what you mean about "prewar but still in service", one of these days I'm going to get hold of Roden's Gloster Gladiator and do it up as a RAAF machine used early on in the desert.

Tom, next BMF I do is certainly going to have Future under the metalics, the finish on your Peashooter is outstanding.

Mike the whiskers look is really starting to come together, nice work.

Cheers

Jules - Fujimi makes the A5m2 and A5m4, I think they are both in 1/72. The only thing in 1/48 is by Classic Airframes. Which I am sure is higher quality with a corresponding price tag. Based on what I have seen of the Fujimi kits though they all look decent enough with a little sprucing up in the cockpit area!

Darren - I am about to start another one and will show pics of it done all over with Future... I think the result will be much better as the last one was a test with krylon under Alclad, then Future under alclad on the uppers...

Well, I have part two of my Pearl Harbor build. It is the older brother of the A6M5-N Rufe that I did for the Japanese aircraft GB. It is the A6M2 Type 21 Zero from the 1st Koku Sentai flying off the carrier Akagi. Most of the parts of the two kits are identical but I am able to do much more as the Rufe had to be OOB.

The first photo shows the rudder control cables and the foot straps

Next is the instrument panel

The power plant has instrument and control cabling running to it

The seat is installed with belts by Eduard

Final assembly of the pit

Tom cool, I will look forward to checking out the pics when you post. I'll be interested to compare them with your current build.

Hey guys.....

I'm not sure I have enough time to complete this, but could you put me down tentatively for a Monogram B-17F which I will try to convert back into a B-17E?

I'm not too experienced in major modifications, but go easy on me and we'll see what I learn.

I'm going to build the B-17E my grandfather unexpectedly flew into Pearl Harbor on the morning of Dec 7th. (Yeah he was one of THOSE guys)Big Smile [:D]

CJ that sounds like a fantastic idea for a build especially with the family connection, but fightnjoe is running this build so it will be up to him to say yes or no.

Hey Mikeym/Darson...
I am working on Tamiya's 1/48 wildcat i would really like to see some interior pics and color schemes. The Val i have is a Fujimi 1/48 kit i have tried different places for instruction but no luck. Its out of production so i guess that makes it just as tough.

Thanks
