Jules I just went back and looked at that again... I missed the obvious (it was written below the pics) this is the resin casting of the model... so there are no halves... there is another styrene set out there somewhere.. I'll see if I can find it here in the US...

Darren - depends on if the missus is nearby.. Wink [;)] That would make a stunning display right next to a P-26... has me thinking it does... the goldish tone with bright red highlights of the A5M4 right next to the colorful green or blue fuselage with yellow wings P-26...

it was a whole different aircraft world just prior to the war....

Jules - happy to have helped you!!! I might go check and see if there is one left... Like I said that would look dandy next to a P-26A especially as there are many similarities...

hmmm I just realized something, I am leading this GB and I have yet to build something for it after the demise of the Zero... well not demise, actually I forgot why I stopped working on it.. something or nother broke and etc... etc...

I may have to ante up so one day we can close this build! Wink [;)]

Tom, Mate if you want one remember i have a spare one, My purcahsing 2 was quite by accident cause i didn't really know how to navigate Ebay having never used it before, but i figured what the hell i can't hurt to have a spare in the stashThumbs Up [tup]

AS far as closing this build goes it's up to you mate but i don't mind if it keeps going, in fact i was hopeing to build the Claude in this threadThumbs Up [tup]

Jules - no prob on closing it... notice I said 'one day' haha... like my mom would tell me when I would ask her when I would ask her when I would be old enough to own my own .22 cal gun.. her answer was always "one day"

Tom-Have you ever considered building a Wildcat? From what I understand, they are very similar to a Martlett....Wink [;)] Just kidding.....

This has been a very enjoyable build....wouldn't mind seeing it hang around for a while longer-never know what will pop-up at the next Hobby Lobby sale run.

btw-the landing gear is on the Wildcat-made the mistake of doing it late in the day. My eyes aren't what they used to be! However, I will have to pick up a couple more for future builds-good detail, easy build (no surprises). Hope to finish it up this weekend...or next!

Bob - Wild... what?? never heard of them! Big Smile [:D] Actually I do have one on the shelf in the closet right now... that would fit the bill.. I am going to go out to greatmodels in a bit to see about getting another P-26 for the Pearl Harbor GB so maybe I'll get me something or nuther then...

Bob - I forgot to include this... I agree 100% on the Martle... umm.. Wildcat kit.. it really is an enjoyable build. I keep one around for when I get frustrated on something a little more complex... the build is so straightforward ion that one it gets me back interested in building again!

Bob I've have the Wildcat on the go at the moment and i agree It's a fantastic kit, I have had to be a little more cautious not to obliterate all the raised rivets when cleaning up the seamsThumbs Up [tup]

Bob - not to nitpick but you got the color a little off, I see no Slate Grey or Dark Sea Grey... and where are the roundels? I don't recognize that star thingy on the side... Wink [;)]

hahaha just had to give you a hard time... looks great! Nice smooth paint and good weathering...

I think that was Tommy James original backup group... "Tommy James and the Roundels" .. I think it was only later in his career when the Shondells showed up...

Thats kinda the way it works for me, i normally work on 3 kits at one and it seems that i don't finish often but all of a sudden i have 3 finished builds within a couple of weeks.....

Same here... I have 3 in progress at the moment and found that is a good number.. when I get to the point of feeling working on one is monotonous or tedious I just put it to the side and go to the other one...

I am doing the Tamiya P-51 right now and finding it about as enoyable as the Wildcat... it could use more detail on the interior but that is something easily fixed with PE... maybe the next one. It's a combo Tuskegee airmen GB and a gift for one of my co-workers' sons.. HE recently learned who they were and has been reading about them and such.. I thought I could provide some visual reference for him as well as farm another kit out (I don't build them unless I know I can give them out somewhere... running out of room for them here)

My condolences to you and your faily Chris... I felt the same way when my uncle died... at least you got to talk to him about it. I never got to talk much with my Uncle about what he did in the Navy, and when I got interested I was halfway around the world in the Navy myself... There's so much I would have asked him.

I know everything will be fine.. he is up there with all the other veterans swapping war stories as we type!

Chris
My condolences also. It is because of the sacrifices of that generation of men & women that we are able to enjoy the freedoms we have today.

and yes, I consider myself in good company.

same shame the 'Usual Suspects' are so spread out-would be nice to gather for a beer or cup of coffee on occasion. along with the occasional BBQ...

Bob - that would be nice, a BBQ with the gang.. I imagine it would be a hoot! We couldn't have them too often lest the neighbors complained!
