Jules ... sad to say Kremps put him up to it... she's alooking for a way back to Happy Acres... the gentlemans club job she landed isn't working out for her.. it's all based on tips...

I think she's trying to get us all admitted back there so she can show them how much money she can bring them!

Tanky I've got to admit I had considered doing the same thing as you but in the end laziness won out over fear so I've decided to give it a go free hand.

:::Progress Update:::
Well the 109 is fully assembled and is currently awaiting masking and a coat of primer. Sorry I didn't take any pre-assembly pics but I got a rush of blood and just put the whole thing together. I’ve got a couple of little jobs to do before the main paint scheme (gunsight & interior canopy masking and painting), but it's getting there.

Cheers
Darren

Tanky, dont fall for Toms pressure mate.

If you wanna mask, DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, I do freehand all the time, and it makes me a nut job!Dunce [D)]

I cant count how many times I've sprayed the camo, then wiped it off, and started again.
What takes hours, could have been done in minutes, with a mask!!!!!

Email me if interested, I'll send you the link to my imagestation album... there's more I took than posted but the better shots are out there now...

Sounds Good John When are we gonna see some picsQuestion [?]

Tanky if you punk out of the freehand camo thing and go for stencils remember to hold the stencils of the model surface about 1 or 2 mm with little bits of blue tac, that way you get a feathered edgeThumbs Up [tup]

Pingy don't worry about the whole axis thing, i've got 3 109's on the go at the moment as well as a Zero, but i do have a Spit VIII about 20% done for the Aussie GB.....

Heehee- dog scales. Awright, I'm caving in. I'll start practicing free hand mottles on my newly designated junk model- a revell 1/72 bf-109 g-10 I built a while back.

Rick - I almost forgot, I saw you mention Rudy in my 3000 post thing Joe did.. I'll have to post a pic later, a before and after.... he's gone from 1/144 scale in the last pic to at least 1/72 now. (Tito and Rudy are 1/24 and 1/32 respectively haha)

OK, I figured out how I'm going to do the mottles for my '109. As usual being a gutless and spineless modeler I always opt to mask whenevr possible. So I'm gonna trace the wings onto some printer paper, take a gander at references box art and instructions draw mottle pattern on wings cut out new paper wings and voila- mottle mask!!

I'm such a coward, aren't I?Clown [:o)]Blush [:I]Dead [xx(]Disapprove [V]

Jules, sounds like great progress. Looking forwared to some pics.

Daniel, You obviously need to go out & buy a dozen or so new kits. A few Spifires, Hurricanes, Mustangs, Warhawks & Jugs would be a good start Smile [:)].

Glad everything is sorted out. Now I feel safe if I build my stuka, it will have some protection.

::::Off Topic Alert::::Off Topic Alert::::

I noticed something wasn't right today. Somehow all the aircraft kits in my stash are axis ones. Not an Allied one in sight. What's going on? I've got a Stuka, FW-190, ME-410, Zero and the 109 I'm working on...... The only bit of allied stuff I have is a 1/72 P-47 half finished......

It just doesn't seem right.

Jules - great!!! yesterday was family time at the in-laws house.. Disapprove [V] so no work done... today I plan to finish a lot of the Stuka and possibly be ready for decaling by tomorrow!!! This was a decent kid for a Monogram.... fairly enjoyable.. I could have put a little more effort into it but didn't feel up to it so it's a bit meager on detail and finishing...

Then it's on with the Martlet or the Zero for the Midway build!!

OK i'm glad we got that sorted out, now we know who's covering who and who's bombing what, So where's "Kremps" during all of this...............

Progress Report::::::::::::
I've had a whole heap of modelling time the last 3 days and i've taken full advantage of it, yesterday i sprayed the RLM 79 on the uppersurfaces, i used The too dark Gunze 79 with about 15% white which after quite a bit of testing turned out to be the heavily faded look i was after, that was followed by a coat of future, then i gave it 24 hours to dry before masking all the areas that are white and have only just finished painting the white on and giving the whole model a generous coating of future, i'll leave it alone for a couple of days and then give it another coat of future before the decals go on..........

And just to make sure there is nothing left after Tom and Pingy's Stukas have been through Rebels AA guns, I'll come in with my 129 and fill in the big hole left by the Stukas!!!

I've got a monogram JU-87 G-1 kit that might be suitable for this build. It is the old 1968 kit re-issued as a "monogram-classic". Raised panel lines and bugger-all detail make for a "fun" build, but it was only $7 so I'm happy with it. And it'll be fun to upgrade a kit like this, instead getting it easy with a shake & bake Tamigawa kit.

It'll also need some top-cover while it takes out AA guns. Rick and Tanky, I'm relying on you guys to keep it covered with my 109.Big Smile [:D]

haha... the comparisons can go on... I'd watch out.. a lot of Hurricanes and Spits in here if I remember right... and don't make me finish my Typhoon to bomb your airfields while you are letting my Stuka progress unimpeded... Wink [;)] or my Quad with 25 pounder artillery piece in tow to shell your troops...

wow... I'd hate for us all to be in the same room with our models... we''d have one of those "what if" wars from our childhood days... complete with engine noises and ACKity ACKity ACKity from our mouths (hmm flash back to the movie BoB)... you know, the ones when we made that "ACKity" noise we shook the model back and forth to simulate the action of the machine guns firing... Wink [;)]

of course, now... like then, we'd all end up getting mad and breaking each others models because they refused to die even though I put 77,936 20mm rounds directly into the engine of your plane...

---edit---

Kremps slapped me on the back as I was typing so I came back to correct typos from then...

Rebel - ya gotta be you... go for the fringe... it's more fun on the outside!

Hmmm... seem to remember about Stukas in large numbers attacking AA positions so the bombers could go through unscathed... maybe we could do a dio with it! Wink [;)]

---edit---

I may be building aircraft for this... but they are American made aircraft dressed in British clothing haha.. (the Martlet) gotta love the fringe!
