                        The desert is courtesy of my daughter’s sandpit BTW.

                        just thought about it... we modelers are an odd sort... any lay person would look at that plane and say how pretty the camo is, here I am more impressed on how even it looks across the whole surface...

                        Just send me any images you want in your sig (not including the ones we have in common) and I'll whip it up and send it straight back to you.

                        Finally pics of the completed MS406!



                        The wing tip lights are sections of clear sprue, let into the wing and sanded to shape, as the kit didn't have any! The oi; staining may look over done, but compared with photos of the real thing, I think I've gone pretty lightly! I added the PE gun sight from the spares box.



                        Showing off the somewhat different French camo, which I really enjoyed spraying. The fit of the sliding portion of the canopy isn't great but it will do.



                        And that distincty RAF looking underside, inluding part roundel.




                        Yes...the wheels are supposed to lean like that. It helped with cross wind landings apparently, even if it looked a bit goofy!

                        Thanks to everyone who's offered their support and encouragement over the 5 months it's taken me to build this little slice of the North African war.

                        ok I thought I found my build for next yrs N.Africa GB... this is a little more fringe than usual. It is an A-35B Vengeance flown by the French at Abadir Morocco 1943/44..

                        Just to keep things a little mixed up!

                        BUT!!!! it is only available in resin and I really don't wanna go there... and come to find out I can't find anyone else that makes a plastic kit... I wish AccMin would come out with something for it... With their SBD and Avenger line this might work out!! oh well I'll keep searching!!!

                        Tom, Special Hobby makes a Vengeance kit in 1/72 & was rumoured to be doing it in 1/48 as well. That's been a year or so back, but there may be hope.

                        Nick there is definitely another Battle of Britain GB on the cards for next year. I was planning on running it straight off the back of the Battle for Germany GB, but I'll wait and see how everybody is travelling. If necessary I'll schedule it for later on next year.

                        Despite all the pitfalls of this build, both due to the kit and my own ham fisted ineptitude, I really enjoyed it. Of course if I'd known Azur were doing one in 1/32...........

                        Hadn't realised that we were on for another NAGB.......(starts to ponder subjects)..........(continues to ponder subjects)........need to find something obscure again!

                        Tom The Free French also flew Dauntlesses in North Africa, in an OD over grey scheme, Hasa do one in 1/72. Might be suitably fringe.
