Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]I have actually picked up the box and looked at all the stuff inside, but other than that I have to finish a P-51B (CPT Gentile's bird) and then I should be able to start on my Bf-109G-14 with the eduard PE Sets, verlinden super detail set and some scratch built extras!!!Wink [;)]

At the rate that I am able to get stuff done it will probably be Mid-December before I can start on this GB!!

I give up!  I'm diving into this build headfirst.  Frankly the FW-190 just wasn't going in a direction I wanted, so I'll need to strip the paint off and start over.  I'll just set it aside and get going on this GB instead. Woohoo!

Now, where did I put that box....?

I have started the Revell 1/32 He-162 and the powerplant is complete.  I have have removed some of the moulded pipe as it is incorrect and replaced it with wire.  Now on to the pit.

Richard:  Looking really good there, keep posting the pics Smile [:)]

Tankmaster: Please list on as my build subject the 1/32 Hasegawa Boeing F4B-4, will probably do a lot of scratchbuild detail on this. aftermarket items seem to be a bit scarce.

Cheers,

Rsaddlemire: WOW!!!! Looking great!

I have not started yet. Work has been busy and all of the holiday stuff going on is making build time a rarity right now. Hope to start soon. Between Xmas and NY I should have plenty of time to get going, I hope!

Thanks Arki, Matt and Mark I appreciate your comments.  Well I finished assembly Friday night an gave it a coat of primer.  Then between yesterday and this morning I was able to get the two colors done.  Now to let it totally dry and get it ready for decals.  A few other things such as main gear, canopy and some other items have also to be done.  The engine is just setting there and will not be made perminate until the final step of the build which should be around Wednesday..

Ok, that's just not fair.  You're moving way too fast on this Smile [:)]!  What, you have elves or something helping out?  Looks great!

Progress: Cutting Edge cockpit is painted aircraft interior black.  Now detail painting and assembly begins.  Will post pictures later.

Richard,  Looks pretty good there, and I agree NOT FAIR!!  Just kidding, although you are moving much faster than I am, I haven't even started yet and probably wont until after Christmas.  I am working on a P-51B and trying to spruce up a 1/32 P-51D engine on the Hasa Man o' War kit.  I wont even see my 109 until later on this week when I get back home.

Anyway, keep up the good work and keep posting Pics, wish that I had the time to build that fast!!!Big Smile [:D]

Arki and Matt - thanks.  It might be due to the fact that I am totally retired and have nothing but time to do my modeling could be the reason I progress as I do.  I have another Group Build to do as soon as this is finished.  I am doing a 1/32 Me-163 for the battle of Germany group build

Its looks really good, I have one in 1/48 that I've been dying to build. You do move fast, retired or not, its only been 2 weeks since the start. I've haven't even broken the shrink wrap on mine!

Looks great Richard. I, too, wish I built even half as fast as you. Nice work.

(Sorry for the double post. I accidentally submitted too quickly.)

Now a question about my build...I am thinking of switching my plan (due to overcommiting and other things), but am not sure it would qualify as "super detailed." Do you think this would fit the criteria?? Thanks in advance.

Tamiya P-47
Eduard Color Zoom PE Set (mostly cockpit details)
Eduard Placards
TD or Ultracast Tires
Some extra plumbing in the wheel wells
Dry Transfer Stencils
Hypodermic needle gun barrels
A few other random scratch built details

Thanks again for opinions,
Leon

yup. that would qualify. I'm not being overly picky on what I call "superdetailed".

Here's a question.  Does anyone know what color Sea Fury wheel wells were?  The few pictures I've been able to dig up seem to suggest a grayish color.  It's definately different than the surrounding British Sky color of the underside.

hmm can't help you I'm afraid. I'm hoping to get my build started soon... but with 2 other superdetailed projects on the bench it may be a while.

Arki30 - I am doing a Spitfire and it calls out for the wheel wells to be the same interior green as the cockpit.  I use Tamiya IJN cockpit green.

Waikong - thanks.  Looking forward to you 1/48th version.

Leon - thanks.

Here are the final shots.  One of the reasons it went together quickly is that there are not a lot of parts to assemble.

Well done! Big Smile [:D]  Love the detail on the powerplant.

Richard, the cockpits of Sea Furys weren't interior green but black.  So, I'm still stuck.  Hmm, still researching.

Thanks all, that was fun to build.  Good kit for a beginner as there are not too many parts and it goes together easily without any major problems.

Hi all.

I'm going to change my build to a 1/72 Hasegawa Bf-109G-14 with True Details wheels and cocpit, Falcon vac canopy, Hawkeye designs landing gear, Eduard masks, PART and Eduard PE, and Third Group decals, and a bunch of scratch-built stuff.  I hope this is alright

Ok, here are pics of the completed Cutting Edge cockpit for the Sea Fury.  Gotta love Cutting Edge, although the price could be a little lower.

Still have a way to go.  Here's a shot of the rest of the Cutting Edge pieces along with the fuselage.  At least now I can close up the fuselage.

Comments welcome.

That looks great arki. Are the instruments dry brushed white? or some other method? They look great.

I agree with you about cutting edge. I am working on a spitfire with their superdetail cockpit. It is great with excellent detail, but was quite expensive relative to the actual kit.

Looking forward to more or your excellent work!

Thanks, Leon.  I've never been able to grasp the subtleties of dry-brushing, so I use white and silver Prismacolor pencils to highlight raised detail, along with dabs of yellow and red paint for switches and knobs.  It works for me.
