Super Detail GB. Start date: December 2005 End Date: When the last guy finishes.

I've painted the Sea Fury with the base coat of British Sky.  Masked off and painted the exhaust shields with Alclad Duraluminum.  Looks pretty good if I don't say myself.  Vacuform canopy has been split and detached from the mold (that was hairy). 

Next step is to mask off the canopy and aircraft for the Dark Sea Gray application. 

I'm excited to see it arki. It sounds good!

Yesterday, I finally made a little start to my p-47. I started in kind of a weird spot...(I wish I knew proper names for things) the opening on the side of the fuselage that opens into nothing. I know that there was a resin set that had a nice piece you could put in there to close it off, but it is out of production and I imagine fairly expensive, so I found some pictures of the piece on the internet and tried my first scratch building - more or less a copy of the resin piece. It took forever, but was actually a lot of fun. Of course once I held it inside to see how it looked, you can barely even see it . I'll try to take some pictures tonight and finish the 2nd side's "insert."

Dark Sea Gray has been shot.  I thinned it a little too much and some bleed happened under the masking, plus a few base color areas pulled up when I removed the masking.    Additionally, I mixed my own Dark Sea Gray since the Gunship Gray the kit called for just seemed too, well, gray.  Yep, should have left well enough alone because my Dark Sea Gray is too blue. 

So, I need to go back and touch up some Sky areas before moving on.  I may reshoot the Dark Sea Gray but I'll probably chalk it up to a learning experience.  After that are the identification stripes.

So, I went back and reshot the Dark Sea Gray.  Looks much better!  However, I still have some reshooting of the Sky color at areas were the masking tape pulled up the paint. 

After that, identification stripes!

Waikong, that's intense.  Looks great, though.  Can't wait to see the progress on it.

On my end, the office is killing me.  Not much time for work on the Sea Fury, but I have finally begun to paint the identification stripes. 

Taking late entries? I'm doing a couple builds for the KV GB that are going to be superdetailed:

1) Tamiya KV-1C - adding PE details, Friul tracks, etc

2) Sturm PzKpf.Wg. KV II 754r (a Tamiya KV-2 with MIG Productions resin upgrades, PE, etc).

Those two oughta keep me busy for a little while.
