Do you think it would have VERY light Gun stains?Maybe when they tested them or something?

All - I'm debating whether to dig up something a little more fringe for this... I like that little F3F but I am already doing one for another GB... doing another seems kinda cheating.. I'll have to look around and see what else I can find... I can't let Kevin outdo me on Fringe! Maybe I'll dig up a reference of a Lancaster being flown off the Ark Royal or something..

Here we don't have hobby shops , so i have to ask a friend of mine that travels to Paris-France kinda often (2 times per year) to buy a model for me So i'll give him the cash so he could buy something for me It's great that i have till March thouhg
This guy is not an aeromodeler so i'll have to build the model, right as it comes in the box, besides, will not be able to use aftermarket parts and decals, cause will not have enough time to wait till he travels again
If the model comes with decals for a land base plane ¿can i use paint for the markings and serials?
I think i'll scramble eather with an SBD or a Corsair in 1/48 being the first my favorite, but have to wait to see what this guy will buy for me
I have an ARII Hellcat in 1/48, but i've started it alreay Shame

So ¿can i join you guys?

It must really stink not having a Hobby shop in your country. Hopefully your friend will find you the right model kit for you. It must be hard not being able to pick it your-self.

You’ll learn a lot from this Group Build with some of the expert members we have here. I’m not one of them, but I do have some knowledge about this subject though.

.....I kid you not. Capt Eric Brown RN operated one from an RN carrier at the end of the war as his personal hack. Apparently it would have made an excellent carrier aircraft due to it's STOL characteristics.

Yes the possibilities are endless. Most of the light bombers that the USAAF had were capable of being operated off of an aircraft carrier. Very early in the planning stages of the Doolittle raid the plan was to use the B-23 Dragon for the attack, but the availability of sufficient airframes kept this from happening. I know a fella that was on the USS Lexington (now deceased, unfortunately) who used to talk about some of the experiments that were conducted by the Navy trying to improve their ability to deliver bombs on target. Some of the US aircraft that have made at least one flight off of a carrier include the A-20, PV-1/2, B-25H, B-18 and others that I can't recall right now. My friend mustered out in 1967 and was involved in carrier aviation since 1938. He was there for the P-3 and C-130 experiments in the 60s. He is truly missed. The sad part is that when he died his grandson threw out all of his photo albums and cruise books.

Tom, Hope you didn't suffer a concussion. Yes I like the fringe side of aviation and I bet I could dig something up for ya if your up to the challenge. Some of the AC I've found would challenge even Swanny's skills.

Cool! hmm I have a Fieseler Storch too... wonder if they left in Luftwaffe colors or changed it to the disruptive camo scheme? This is why I like the group builds.. you can always pick up something from them.

Kevin - that must have been great talking to him.. same thing happened when my great uncle died.. his wife threw everything of his out. He flew USAAC bombers in the Pacific. He's been gone awhile now so most of the people who remember his stories can't get them straight. They have him flying three different types of bombers during the war... I did pick up that he thought Guam was the worst fighting he saw. And only 2 types of AAC bombers were mentioned in the order of battle for the island. One of them interestingly enough went from the B-24 to the B-29 then on to the B-36 after the war... I wish he would have lived a little bit longer till I was born and old enough to talk to him. thats would have been great!

Standard Luftwaffe camo with RAF roundels and fin flashes added.

Not sure where you'd find a picture though.

Well yeah woove, it really sucks, not having hobby shops here, but i'm lukcy though, being able now, to count on that friend, so i can get some models I'm even more lucky, having a friend like Ross Allen from Ottawa-Canada that maybe some of you know, that's sending me some models as a gift, He's responsible, that i have my ARII Hellcat and now, a Vampire and a P-40E, are on it's way to Cuba This good friend, have also sent me some FSM mags a great book and some modeling tools, for what i'm very thankful to him

Listen jsharrison, it sure woudl be cool if you come here and open a hobby shop, for that reason, you could even count on me as a crew member, to help you out, in your bombing raids against Toms roof
I was trying to contat a model company that could be interested in doing bussines here and the models could be sold as toys in department stores and i know lots of people would buy them, but till now, i haven't contacted anyone that could be interested

This morning i've spoken with the friend of mine that travels alot and he told me i can even make a list of several model building companies, that build the model i want, so he could have choises at the moment of buying it for me
So now that i definetly decided that i'll scramble with the Dauntless ¿can you give me some advices about model companies that have this plane in 1/48 and with atractive (rather cheap) prices?

Probably Tom or Jules or one of the other 'usual suspects' can better define Kremps, but bottom line is that she is an imaginary character (I hope), one that represents the nurse from the movie "One Flew Over the Coo-Coo's Nest, and/or a rather large Soviet nurse with an attitude. The exploits of Kremps are left to the imagination of the writer (and well worth the price of admission). I must admit, there are some very 'creative' individuals in the group that is also know as 'The Usual Suspects'. 'The Usual Suspects' is (or are-didn't pay any attention in English class in my younger days) a group of individuals that have gathered in previous group builds and have gotten to know each other quite well. Many good modeling tips/helpful historic facts have been exchanged within the group.Check out the North Africia GB or the Battle of Britian GB and you'll see.

Kremps is very real. Just ask Jules he still has the bruises to prove it, and we all bear the mental scars, especially poor Tom.

Kremps...real enough, it is true!

Get yourself a program from the Llaneli-Swansea match in Fall of '87...she propped for Swansea. If you can track it down, the Daytona Bike Week Iron Horse Saloon "yearbook" from 96...she won the Japanesse Bike toss...covering an impressive 47' and 9.5".

Due to continued participation in athletics I have some how amazingly enough stayed limber to the point of being able to dodge her clutches...sad to say some of our other members have not been so lucky...

In regards to Kremps remember this...just cause you have never seen a million dollars or a baby pidgeon does not mean that they do not exist! The same applies to her...

hmmm I've been mulling this Fi-156 thing over and may change the F3F over for that one.. that definitely would look interesting... I'll go out tonight and see if I can find pics...

Raudel, is mail order from Canada or Mexico totally out of the question? Will customs confiscate things in the mail to you? I remember you talking about your Hellcat from earlier this year and would love to see your work if you could get your hands on a digital camera.

Sure, no prob, it would be a pleasure to share my work with ya all Wooverstone ¿would you mind if i post a picture here?

I made a collage picture, with some of the work i made so far, in my Hellat cockpit I tried to post it in my topic, but for some reason i couldn't upload it I asked for some advice, but didn't got an answer So if wooverstone agrees, i can send you Jay, the picture by email and you can upload it here for me and then i can make the comments ¿what you say?

About mailing stuff to cuba, it's ok, my friend Ross from canada sent me the Hellcat, plus some FSM mags and some tools in a box and everything have arrived just fine and in less than a month Now i'm waiting to recieve another parcel from him, with couple of models, more mags, a bottle of paint and other stuff
