Karl-very nice job.  Can't wait to see more pics.

Jay-great job on the cockpit.  Very nice IP.  Nice to see that you are balancing fatherhood with modeling.  How is "the little one" doing?

btw-what color did you use for the seat?

Matthew is doing great, his now just over 9 pounds.

Bob, the seat colour is a custom mix of humbrol rust and RLM 23 as I didn't have an orange-red paint in the stash of paint bottles.  I have a couple colour photos of restored spitfires and that is very close to the colour of the seat, at least in the pics I have.  I still haven't given the CP a wash with a dark colour yet, not sure if I will in the end.

Jay, nice job on the Spit pit.  The seat was unpainted bakelite material.  My references show a darker red brown color, but it's close enough.

Yeah, Rick I think it may be too light but I'm not too worried.  I got more prgress on the Spitfire, The CP is installed and the fuselage is closed.  I put the elevators on and with dry fitting the main wing piece it looks like there will be a gap at the wing root I'll have to fill and sand.  From this point on, it looks like the Spitfire will go together pretty smoothly until the painting, then I get to try my hand at invasion stripes!  Cool [8D]

Bear-hope you feel better soon.

Step in the right direction tonight-finished painting the fret of PE seatbelts.  I normally order 'pre-painted' but this time I figured I save a few $$$ and get unpainted.  What I saved $ wise I lost time wise.  For some reason, it took me three weeks to get them painted.  With a little luck, I'll be able to get the cockpit done this weekend.

Jay-I was just thinking...(dangerous in itself)..are you going to sponsor an Axis Aces GB after this one? Wink [;)]

Made some progress today

Evidently I bungled up some of the battery trays (or such)-the upper fuselage is a terrible fit.  Nasty gap-used the super glue/file immeadiately method-works well but hard on files.  The fit above the cockpit is in need of some work.

Bob, good progress on the pit.

Is that the Accurate Minatures kit?

Tried taking some more photos of the 1st Nieuport last night, but they looked every bit as bad as the first lot! I'm obviously doing something wrong, so I'll get the camera meister AKA the missus to have a go.

The second Nieuport is currently stalled, but I'll pick it back up before I start the 111 for the BoBGB.

Bob, I'm not sure.  There was talk of it a while back (Luftwaffe Eagles GB?) but I think someone else had spoken up for it, an Axis Aces would be better.  I was going to get another Canadian GB going this fall though.

Tanky, thanks. I'll get around to posting some decent pics at some point. I've still got the second Nieuport to finish, but that'll have to wait until the 'Mystery plane' is complete for the BoB GB.

Scott, put me down for the Axis Aces GB as well, not sure when I'll start, but start I will.

Bob nice looking front office, I really like the IP is that PE or a decal?

Karl I know what you mean about the master 'o' the camera, my meagre skills are constantly being "critically assessed" by SWMBO.

Scott I had a look at my stash and about all I've got Axis wise at the moment is a Tamiya Me 262 so if I can find some decals put me down (well not literally of course Big Smile [:D])

Cheers

If it's not to late I'd like to get in with Robert Vaught's P-40E.  "Bob's Robin"

Well, after a fast start, I lagged for several weeks because of work and family.  But I finally got around to putting the finishing touches on my mustang.  I didn't attempt any weathering.  Sad [:(]  I was too scared since this was my first Alclad finish.  I really didn't want to ruin it if I couldn't wipe off the excess wash or if the wash got underneath one of the decals.  So I figured I would leave this as simply a clean build.

This is Tamiya's 1/72 P-51D in John C. Meyers' Petie 2nd scheme.  Meyers was the 2nd highest scoring ace in the 352nd Fighter Group, the famed Blue Nosed Bastards of Bodney, with 24 kills (technically 23.5, which was determined after the war).  He was the 12th highest scoring American ace of World War II.  He also had an additional 14 confirmed kills of planes on the ground, a dangerous undertaking.  He added 2 more air kills in the Korean war.

Edit - LOL!!  I just realized I didn't put the antennea on.  Oh well.  Tongue [:P]

I know I'm late to the party, but would love to join in if that's ok?  I'm getting ready to start a 1:48 Tamiya P-47D Razorback.  Paint and marking will be for Major Quince Brown's "Okie", 8th AF, 84th FS, 78th FG - 12 confirmed aerial victories (14 victories in total by 8th AF standards) before being killed in action on 09.06.44, after bailing out of his stricken P-47 over Gemund, Germany.
