Oh those rotten bast@#$s!  I got a call early this week from our systems admin.  Not about FSM but about my teams list serve.  I had to drop it, no biggie as today is official retirement day (torn rotator cuff, 19 years is enough)

Jay I know what you mean it's the 1st here today but I won't be able to start for a little while yet.  I'm still waiting on the Eduard PE set for my P-47 before I can do anything much at all.

At least I should be able to give the wheel wells a spray while I'm waiting.

Cheers

Thanks!  Good call...will remedy, looks like I will have plenty of time to get one by the way the seams are coming! (LOL)

He has been doing all the work on his own, I show him and off he goes!  The detail on the kit will be pretty much wiped away, but who cares, it is his first!  I remember being his age and having this exact kit...this is quite a buzz...thanks to Jay.  Should be soon Jay you can have your kid jump on in on one of these!

If you only had the seat fall out so far, you are off to a great start.  I completely lost an entire wing to a 1/48 Doolittle Raider once. I am still trying to figure that one out, but I am willing to bet that the dog had something to do with it.  He has aquired a taste for styrene that the carpet monster doesnt claim first.

Keep up the good work and I look forward to more pictures!

Here is a close up of my work so far.  Tonight we sanded the seams.  We checked how we did with silver paint.  We still need more work.  The wings are still only dry fit.

Oh Snap!  The seat fell out...Dad says that's okay and Welcome to the hobby!

I can't wait to get to the decals!

Yeah, Termin8tr, Darren (Darson) has this wierd Kingly "divine right" complex where he lords it over us and thinks were are all his "subjects" he can order about at will, if you're on here long enough you will notice he hosts some kick butt GBs, which I think contribute to his complex.  So he put a king as his avatar just remind us all of his superiority...Wink [;)]Laugh [(-D]

Just kidding Darren, though you DO host kick butt GBs!Thumbs Up [tup]

Two days to go!!!!!

BTW your build is looking good Termin8tr.  Give us some close ups please!

Darren Actually Jules found the Yak-1 in a hobby shop and sent it to me,but i haven't seen him on the forums in a while and he has not responded to my E-mail of late. when I had last heard from him he had already sent it out and I had sent some American currency for a collector in his family so i guess he is MIA at the moment I hope everything is ok with him

Hey guys, Dad and I got the fuselage together...needs lots filler.  We dry fitted the wings, we will need more filler.

Darson,

If I ever see your stuff I bet it is really good...you have a picture of a king so you must be good.

Editor's Note (a/k/a Dad)

If all goes well, I should be moving house in early/mid April.  Might delay my start.  At least the new place will have a hobby room!

WooHoo! only 5 days till kick off! Tongue [:P]

Unfortunately, I will probably not be able to start right away as it that time of the year when Government grabs more money from us.  I have to do my taxes this weekend Yuck [yuck].   I will be starting after that, so for sure the week after.  Smile [:)]

Well the Termninator and I got started tonight.  Thanks again Jay for letting him get into this.  He has been eyeballing my stash for quite some time and talks to no end about the Group Build.  This is him spraying interior green.  No practice at all, just picked it up and went right at it.  He even masked the parts with no help at all.

Darren-thanks for the tip on the Revell AG Spitfire Mk. IX.  There is one sitting on the shelf of my LHS and I was wandering about the quality of the kit.  Might have to add that one to the collection of unbuilt models waiting for a Group Build.

Must have been. Kozhedub shot down 2 USAF P-51D's when they mistakenly attacked him. (Thought he was an Fw-190 when he was flying his La-7)
