He killed both Axis, and 1 Allied?  I guess that the latter was an error?

Edited to add:
I mean by error, an act of friendly fire.

Thad, thanks for the offer mate.  This is the only image that I have of Fred Christensen and it clear shows what I was talking about with the nose art.  Also

Also just browsing through the decal dungeon last night I was struck by the fact that Cutting Edge also doesn’t supply information on what type of prop Christensen's plane used.  This is an important piece of information for me as there are three in the kit to choose from.

Dave, that would be my guess too, it's just a shame that they make us guess.

Jay, have a look at the Revell AG Spitfire Mk.IXc as well. It's a re-boxing of the Hasegawa kit (at about two thirds the price of the original) which IMHO is excellent.

Cheers

I just read an article on Hyperscale about a new Airfix 1:48 Spitfire Mk IXc.  anyone else know about this kit?  Does anyone have any thoughts?  The article said it was actully pretty decent but still not perfect.  I think I may have to pick one up.

Darren, I'm going to guess that since the invasion stripes do not cover the top half of the fuselage, then they would not appear on the top of the wing.  I'm not familiar with that particular plane, but all of the others I have seen that have stripes on the top side of the wings also have the stripes all of the way around the fuselage.  Just my guess.

Darren, I am doing this same bird as we speak for the p-47 build and it is disapointing there is no veiw of the top of the wing.Thumbs Down [tdn] Thats why it has sat on my bench for 3 to 4 weeks with no progress.Banged Head [banghead] Let me know if you find any info on it, and I will do the same.

Hey

I think I found the plane Im going to do.It will most likely be Lt.Louis Curdes plane 'bad angel' P-51D.

He had one 7 German Kills, 1 Italian,1 Japanese and 1 American kill.

Heres some more info- http://www.82ndfightergroup.com/95misc%20-%20Louis%20E%20Curdes.htm

Welcome the build Connor, err I mean Terminator I'll look forward to seeing your work posted along with your dad's.

Joe I kind of feel a connection with Connor's nickname, my two girls are code named Search and Destroy Big Smile [:D].

Well I got my Cutting Edge decals in the mail last night and I must say I'm a little disappointed.  There is no placement guide for anything other than the stencils and you are only shown the aircraft from one side in profile and under wing.  Given that this aircraft has invasion stripes I have no idea at all if they are supposed to cover the tops of the wings as well.  I think I'm supposed to just "know" what the hidden side to the aircraft looks like and what decals go where Angry [:(!]

To top it off the nose art is decidedly average and does not contain the shading known to be behind it.  This image comes from another manufacturer’s decal sheet of the same aircraft and shows the nose art shading as it should look.

Cheers

Hi Jay, thanks I know I've been playing catch up with all the posts and progress in all the GB's and my own lack of progress.  I've been given a new fleet type in addition to the two I already have.  I'm now have the new B787 Dreamliner's minimum equipment list.  It's no even built yet and we've (Boeing & Airlines) already started working on the draft of the minimum equipment list very cool but also demanding it's cutting into my build timeSad [:(].  I'm hoping that by the time this GB starts things will get back to normal or something close enough I'm in styrene withdrawl, sorry for the ranting it feels good though.

Cheers

Welcome aboard Terminator

Jay It looks like I'll definitly be doing Donald Morrisons Spit MK Vb.  I don't have all my bits to make William Klersys MK IX at this time, who knows I might do both (Yeah right who am I kidding).

Great to have you Conn.. er Terminator!  You look about the same age as I was when I first started.  Maybe in a couple years you be able to make better models than your dad! Wink [;)]

Looking forward to seeing your Mustang, one of my favourite aircraft!

LoL, my 6 year old boy eyes all my models and sometimes asks to build one.  He always seems to pick the most expensive ones.  I cringe for a second, but then I come back to my senses and just appreciate that he likes planes and models like I do.  He just started building by himself with non-toxic glue.  It's really fun to watch him.

Cool...#1...when you hear the child's first cry get ready for a total Zen moment...mine was like I knew the answers to all of the questions ever asked or will be asked, it was a breif moment, but one that I will always have...

I will tell the Terminaor (a/k/a Connor, my son) that he is in...it is the old Monogram 1/72 B model which will have the Eagle Strike decals...he is going to be so psyched!  Thanks Jay, and everyone else!

Darren sorry mate, we have several names for boys and girls picked out and sadly, Darren is not one of them.

Joe, yes it is #1.  What do you mean, may post pics of your son's build, I insist you must do it.  I'll even add his name to the list if you would likeBig Smile [:D].  PS- it is totally okay for him and only him to start early.

All others starting early will be disqualified and barred from further participation in GBs moderated by meSmile,Wink, & Grin [swg].  Ahh... who am kidding, as long as you don't start way too early, I could care less, I hate "too many rules" and people who are real sticklers.  I will be starting on April 2nd though.

Speaking of kids, scratch the B model I was planning to do...my 7yr. old son saw it and asked if he could build it...could not resist...I may post some photos of the progress...should start on Saturday.

Jay, I know I'm splitting my replies to you across GB's but it had completely slipped my mind that you are not far away from becoming a Dad!!!!
Now I am deadly serious here, but when the dust has settled I expect to see some photos published in one of the GB's and remember if it's a boy Darren is a really cool name Thumbs Up [tup]

Yeah I know what you mean about the time for the GBs Darren.  I am going to try really hard to get as much as I can on the Canso for the BoA GB and Spitfire for the Allied Aces GB before my wife's go time in the later half of May.

Well I ordered my decals from Meteor Productions the other day, now all I need is the P-47 interior set from Eduard and I'll be ready to start.  Providing I can find time in my build schedule that is Sad [:(]

Just a bit of fun, but I'd love to do the Hurricane of Johnny 'Red' Rebourne, of Eagle comics.  OK, he's fictional, and I'm just playing, but still...I used to love reading his exploits!

This is going to be a good one...I just picked up the Loon Models Conversion to make the P51D-5 model for Yeager's bird.  The one without the fin fillet...first time using a conversion.

I would like to join this GB if possible.  I would like to do a 1/72 Tamyia P-51D in John C. Meyer's Petie 2nd scheme.  He had 24 victories.

No biggy but after looking at the P-47 that Rick's doing for the Battle of Germany GB I am now going to get the Eduard PE set for my Tamiya P-47 because looking at the IP that Rick was able to produce with that set, well Needless to say I'm getting it.
