I found the MPM kit Rick was talking about...$10 ends in 2 days with no one currently bidding on it.  Search "Phanton" and look on page three, even though this will probably change soon enough...

OOPS...forgot to ask...there is a strong possibility I will be using the old FROG kit for my submission or even the Airfix kit...one issue, raised panel lines.  I checked the IPMS guidelines and they allow for exhausts to be tapped and rivets to be sanded off it does not specifically say panel lines rescribed.  Will the group allow for this interpretation of the rules?

Rescribing panel lines is allowed under the OOTB rules.  You're not adding anything that was not included in the box.  So are added details like antennae wire, as long as you use stretched sprue from the box.

Joe, for the GB badge,  maybe try a photo of a prototype, like the p-80, meteor or aircomet.  Just a thought...

After a second look, only suggestion on the GB Bage proposal would be to center the lettering if possible.  Looks a bit skewed to the viewers right.

Good call Rick.  Was trying to keep in the lighter area but played with it a bit and it looks better centered.

I dunno, I guess when I think of the first jets, I always think of those with their NMF sitting on a tarmac or flying in the air.  For some reason I just don't rememebr the Me262, I know it was 'the' first combat jet but those other three come to mind more often for me...

As for the GB badge it looks good!

Jay I know what you mean...we have a tendancy to think mainstream...no offense to the Schwalbe it is a GREAT jet...lethal looking and truly one hot scooter.  I checked out the Pavla Gloster Pioneer as well as the Heinkel jets...definitely different...there is something to the first jets with gleaming finish and breathing smoke like some ancient dragon...

HMMM... No chatter here for a couple of weeks, so thought I would just bump it back to page 1.  Never saw an official reply to Marc's GB Badge proposal.  I like it, how about Joe & the rest of you guys ?

Indeed, the name had escaped me, but that's the plane I would have described if somebody had asked me that question.

Sorry guys, but due to constraints of various natures I'll have to drop out of this build until further notice.

Scott you are in...list is updated...I know it is only 10:28 pm EST, but in 30 days we start it up...looking forward to this one for sure...If you are just someone wondering through don't be shy, drop in with your submission or an idea...remember a "First" jet...Me262's P80 and Gloster Meteors are great, but the Build is open to the first jet to serve with any air force or the first jet to score an air to air kill with radar (F3D Skynight, just read about it, can not remember where though, damn!) or how about a MiG for some sentral African nation...I think one may have had a zebra for nose art...lots of possibilities...

Hi Joe,

One question. Would the Ryan FR-1 Fireball count even though it's a hybrid Jet/Prop plane? It was a first, just not exclusively a jet. No probs if you want to keep the props at bay for this GB. I have a Meteor, P-59, P-80, and an FH-1 all in my stash that I could build for this GB as well.
