Thanks Bear but my little adventure under the surgeons knife was a few weeks ago now and I've fully recovered.  What has been burying me completely is catching up at work, needless to say I haven't had any bench time at all in the last week and a half.  Sorry to hear about Mrs Bear, I hope she is up and about as soon as possible.

Great looking progress on the Hurricane btw, is that the Airfix kit?

Dave welcome to the build I hope you have a good time.  Another great modeling tool that you can pick up are nail buffing/filing/polishing sticks which come in various grades and are easily obtainable at the local chemist.  Ahhh the joy of going shopping for modeling supplies and coming home with q-tips, nail polish remover and nail boards .

Rob you have every reason to be proud of that Spit it looks awesome, nice job .

Good start on the 'cane Bear.  You need the acetone version BTW, that's what acts as a solvent for the putty.

Darren I'm glad to see your back I hope your feeling well.  Tom in referance to your tip on thinning putty do you know if the non acetone based nail polish remover would work ( that's what my wife uses) or does it need the acetone to have an effect.

Dave23 Nice work on the Spit.

Here is a progress shot of my hurricane.  I've assembled the fuselage and wing assy I've also test fitted the cockpit to assy to the fuselage.  Next will be to assemble it all and start filling gaps hopefully that will be soon.  Mrs Bear injured her paw recently and now Bear has the domestic chores plus the reno work on the house so there is barely time to follow everyones progress (thank god for internet access at work).

I haven't used the Tamiya basic but squadron white is good.  It has a finer grain than squadron green so it might take more than one shot to fill it... if the Tamiya basic is more gritty use that one first and if need be follow up with the squadron white.  The reason for the nail polish remover is it makes the p-utty more flowing and allows it to run into the gap easier and fill in one shot.  Don't use pure acetone to thin the putty as it might damage the plastic.  The nail polish remover will do fine.  I just use a toothpick and work the remover in that way until it feels about like sour cream...

Rob welcome to the build it's good to have you along.  Any ideas on what Defiant you are going to build?  As a day fighter they were wiped from the skies but as a night fighter they did manage some degree of success as Tom says.

Okay some progress pics... well sort of, last weekend I did my shed and I still have to paint it but someone wanted to see some pics, so here they are in all their glory. 

So for now I am calling it a representation of an early war luftwaffe utility shed some where in the Calais area of France at an airfield used by a Zerstorer group.  Have fun!

And me, just to prove to you I did build it (I had several buddies over which helped a ton!), I am cutting some of the door trim in the pic.

David no problems and welcome to the build.  I've got to do a revised roster for page one anyway so I'll add you to the list.

Okay, success! I found a LHS here in Calgary that has bi-monthly orders to Hannants which is good as I'll get him to order the Falcon Clearvax set I need for the only 1:72 vacuform Bf110c canopy available.

It also has several other aircraft in the set I am interested in like the Ju-188.  I built the Italeri kit years ago and I did the squiggle camo on it but with a brush, I am interested in trying it out with an Airbrush if I do it again.  It also has a Hs126 which looks very interesting!  Other aircraft include two Bf109G canopies, an He162, Do217e, He219 and Ju88c.  All are very interesting aircraft to do so it looks like I'll have my hands full for 1:72 Luftwaffe subjects over the next few years!

Jay - since it is Win98 it's a problem of a different flavor... try going to Start/Settings/Control Panel and look for an icon called System (with the camera plugged in and turned on)  open this up and look for anything with a red question mark or yellow exclamation mark next to it and let us know what it is.  I'd definitely think about uninstalling the camera software and driver (if it doesn't autouninstall when you do the software) and reinstalling it.  Back up your pictures if the software saves them in the same folder with the software that runs it, just in case it deletes them.

Darren - I had forgotten about the gun ports... I'm about to glue those on my P-47 and they are almost always IMPOSSIBLE to align.
