Oh man, I'm going to be out in the field most of the day on Thursday to support the roll out of a new wireless tablet PC for our Casino Services techs.  If you're interested, we could try to hook up for a few minutes at High Sierra Models in the late afternoon.  Big Smile [:D]

Your 109 is coming right along.  Is that the 1/48 or 1/32 kit?  I'm slowly working on mine, I had to put it off to the side for a bit while I finish up some more pressing projects.

Thanks Scott,

That is the 1/48 Hasegawa kit.  My 1/32 Hasegawa G-6 is still on the shelf...screaming at me to build.  Oh well...I'll get to it soon.

I shot you a PM.  Hopefully we can get together.  You know I'm always up for a trip to the hobby shop! Smile [:)]

Scott, it is the G-6, is it alright if I combine this one with the BF-109 GB?  I hope to start as soon as my Spitfire is off the bench, maybe in a couple weeks.

Bob, thanks, I've been lurking here and there lately and not getting much done but with several GBs having year long/extended time lines, I think I can do that.  Also 1:72 builds are pretty fast for me, if you call 2 months fast...Laugh [(-D]

Hi there Joe,

This build is based around German aces from WWII and the aircraft they flew.  Unless I'm thinking of the wrong aircraft wasn't the Ju 52/3m a transport bird?

Cheers

We'd love to have you, however the Ju 52/3m is a transport aircraft.  The premise for the group build is building a specific fighter aircraft flown by any Axis ace.  That would cover any Axis pilot who shot down enough aircraft to achieve "ace" status.  There are literally hundreds of different schemes to choose from which would include aircraft such as the Bf109, FW-190, Me 262 or even the Japanese Zero and many others.  Also the markings used on the aircraft would obviously have to be those used by a specific Axis ace.  If you have any questions or need help finding a plane and pilot feel free to ask.  Smile [:)]

Well, an Ace is a pilot who has shot down 5 or more enemy aircraft (or in the case of Germans, 10 or more).  A Val is a dive bomber used for attacking ships and ground targets.  A Kate is a torpedo bomber used for attacking ships.

Almost without exception aces are fighter pilots.  So unless you know of a specific Japanese pilot who shot down 5 or more enemy airplanes in a Kate or Val I would have to say nope.

To give you an example, I'm building a Messerschmitt Bf109G-14 flown by Erich Hartmann who is credited with shooting down 352 enemy aircraft (confirmed kills).  I'm also going to build a Messerschmitt Bf109G-6 flown by Gunther Rall, who is credited with 275 confirmed kills.

I hope that clears it up a bit. Smile [:)]

Silentmodeler, you might want to consider joining the South Pacific GB if you have markings for a Kate or Val that served on a Japanese carrier at some point in the South Pacific.  Just a thought. Smile [:)]

hehehehe. What you don't know is I do have a Luft. mechanic. Not miniturized, but, Willy Messerschmitt's right hand man, chief engineer and test pilot as my referance material on Me-109's -110/410's and -262's.Wink [;)]Big Smile [:D]

Thanks Panzer, Scott and all you guys for the nice words. It sure helps keep the fire to finish going. I have made more progress, the bottom part of the engine is getting there and the engine mounts are finished. If all goes well, I could be finished this weekend. Depends how much time I get to work on it.

Thanks for the welcome back GuysParty [party]

The surgery was a Laser Vitrectomy I had a Victeral Hemmorage in my left eye where a blood vessel burst and blood seeped into the victeral fluid(Eye Juice). so they had to use a laser to seal the burst blood vessel and then insert a needle to remove the blood, they also found an abrasion on my cornea that they fixed at the same time I was awake for the whole procedure but on some really funky meds all went well and I just have to keep it under a patch and use some eye drops for about 4 weeksWink [;)]
