Go to www.coastalforcesplans.com and click on "W Series" in the sidebar. The drawing heading the Weapons page is the MK19 torpedo tube.

Well I am going to be one with my masking tape, or before I am done my wife's going to use it to mummify me and give me a sea burial! I figured out what paint scheme I'm going to do, it's gonna be pretty wild but I don't quite know how to pull it off yet...

I'm  a glutton for punishment, what can I say. But when I saw the picture in one of the Squadron books PTB's in Action a big light bulb went off in my head, then it quickly blew out.Dunce [D)]

Mavrik,

Those tubes were utilized on the early Higgins PTs, the Vosper MTBs built in the US for the Soviets as well on the later 80 foot Elco boats that were built for the Soviets.  They used compressed air instead of a flash charge ...

What is it you need to know?

Yes. I have visited PTBoatWorld and found no photos/drawings of this torpedo tybe type.

Ed, I will wait for results. I do not have ACF book unfortunately. Sad [:(]

I am still meditating over the torpedo tubes for Vosper MTB from Revell. I hope, I will be able to show some progress on them on Monday.

By the way, does anybody know where to find any information on these tubes? They look similar to ones used on Higgins boats, but the mount is diffirent and the gas-cylinder looks larger.

I have the following information:

  1. Vospers In action: photos of the torpedo tubes on page 19, a photo of MTB with these specific tubes on the last page.
  2. A photo of the builders model in the Mr. Chun's book.

I've had two orders from them. The service has been very good. I've not actually built anything I have bought from them yet nor checked the accuracy but the quality is impresive. I've been trying to press them as to when the furture releases will be available - I've just had a dead bat reponse.

Check the first page of this thread for the various links to different builds...I try to keep tabs on everyone! (just call me jeedubbya)  Mine is progressing slowly...most of the 109's sound like they have been sanded, and there is a Vosper that is well along the way.

So how is everyone progressing on thier projects? I don't want to clog this thread up too much but I was just curious.

I a bit embarrased must admit, that I really haven't gotten much done. I've looked at some various materials ( reference ) and I've washed my parts, but that's really about it. Seems like when I think I have 10 minutes to get something done something comes up...

I'm really thinking about pushing the 109 to the back burner and switching to the VOSPER kit...of course that won't give me any more time to get anything done...

Hopefully after the new AB get's here and a few other things, life will settle down around here so I can get something done on this...

Does everyone have their own thread over in the ships section and that's why I'm missing the progress reports?

Don't feel bad, I seem to be in the same boatBanged Head [banghead] Seems that every time I sit down & pick up the model Somebody needs my attention. Whether it be my disabled g.f. (whom has a knack fer catching me at the wrong time) or my father whom is getting his new house set up so he can move outta town! (Hurry yer butt up pops!!) I had to go fix his G-5 Computer 3 times today.

There seems to be only 4 of us with our own threads so far... C'mon people, who's doing what???

Oh and Greg, DJ Parkins is pretty good from what I've been hearing

Greg, I have thought of  opening up a shop of my own but, I know nothing of operating a business. I've been looking at them Corvette detail sets and I wonder what I could use for my PT BoatMischief [:-,] But, that's the problem. most of the detail sets are for the bigger ships.Sad [:(]
I have to ask, If a 1/72 Mine Sweeper/ Destroyer/ Corvette has similar items on them as a 1/72 PT Boat would they work on the PT?

I wont bother with HR Products. I do not like their "Cusstomer Service". Enuff said.

Wish they sold that stuff on this side of the pond...it sounds like the wait is tremendous!  Ed, why don't you open up your own PT boat store????  All of that stuff for the Flowers is intriguing...I have two review kits still in stash, and the temptation to order some things is almost overwhelming.  Has anyone bought from them before?

Eddie,

For fittings, as of right now: they have the following:

For the PT-109/PT-117:

The Mark XIII torpedoes and racks
A 37mm gun for the 109
A mid-war to late war 40mm Bofors

For the S-100,

Any of the AA suite that they do would work as would the G-7 torpedoes.

And, I'm sure - down the road - they'll have more stuff.

Thanks fellas, I hadn't heard this before & although HR had been mentioned in my PT-109 thread before, I had to ask.
Who makes decent fittings? I know WEM just has the PE sets but, no fittings & have talked with John@WEM on this recently

A mooring bitt.  Again, for a capital ship.  And, Greg is correct, their castings now are rather bad.

Also...I've heard from a few different sources that the quality of those castings is somewhat ...dubious. Just FYI, I have never ordered from them before.

we need more PT boat parts!

Ed,

Those Torpedo Tubes are the quad ones that were fitted to USN Destroyers, not for PTs.

Greg, I found a company that has both torp tubes & depth charges.  Any comments from y'all, would be appreciated.
http://www.hrprod.com/72.html
They are white metal (found it in an earlier post in my thread)  Seems most of their stuff is geared towards destoyers.
I've been looking at certain items & wonder would they work on a PT Boat? (Ladders, W.T.Doors,Co2 tanks, CO2 Extinguishers, etc)

Must have missed that post...did a search with zero results, except a bit about Jeff Herne scratchbuilding some.  I wish WEM made more stuff for PT boats, the other company in Wales is nice, but the delivery time would be an issue...anyone out there have more information?

Greg, there are alot of good ideas coming out from everyone involved in the G/B. I've been banging my head trying to remember who said something about there's some depth charges on the market & I think the same place had torp tubes too?  Someone within the G/B  but, can't for the life of me recall who!Confused [%-)] Were they resin or white metal?
