Man Jerry......that's awesome.....your almost done aren't you? Can you post some up close detail shots of your wash?  I'm still working on mine.I have been concentrating on the intakes here lately.I was also messing with the drop tanks when I remembered about a post a while back that someone had put on another sight,about the 1/32 drop tanks in the Tamiya F-15 kits being to small in diameter.I had a crappy molded Cutting Edge resin 600 gal. tank but wasted it by putting it in hot water to squeeze the halves together.If any of you guys have a Revell 1/32 F-4E laying around I am willing to buy a centerline drop tank (or 2).Anyway I will try really hard to post pics this weekend of the Cutting Edge seemless intakes and how they go together.I was going to post them last weekend but got tied up working on my kit and along with other things,I ended up losing track of time.Anyway Painklr, I hope you got your problem solved.Take care guys....

I suppose you could do it either way. I usually apply the wash after decals, that way if a decal covers a panel line, the wash will continue across the marking. On an F-15, very few decals cover panel lines so it wouldn't matter.

Nice looking bird dragonfly.  Just a quick question.  Do you apply the panel wash before you add the decals or after?  I hope my question is not to dumb.  I was thinking about adding a wash on mine, but I already began adding the decals.

Good to see some activity. Sounds like some progress is being made. I've finished the decals and panel line wash. The lines are a little shallow in places, but I'm happy with the results. Just finished the flat coat and was able to do my favorite part of the build.....pulling off the masks. I'm happy there's only 2 little touchups.

Still plenty to do.

Hey Guys

Worked on the eagle last night.  She coming along great.  I am applying the decals at the moment, but ran into a problem.  I applied my decal on the tail when I noticed that the decal solvent I purchased at the hobby store was empty.  My question is, how long can I wait to apply the solvent?  Is it to late?  I was real upset.  I purchsed a decal set and decal solvent combo and the solvent was empty.  I hope  I do not have any trouble returning the item.

I haven't done much on my birds as of late.  Just started the Apache course, so I've been studying and flying a LOT.  Here's my three birds so far:

From left to right they are the Revell F-15E, Hasegawa F-15D/DJ and Hasegawa F-15C.  Markings will be Lakenheath for both 2-seaters and I'm actually building the C as an MSIP'd A model so I can put it in Twobobs' Katrina Relief LA Guard markings.

Now to find the time to finish them!

Thanks Jerry for the comments.....I have to humble myself though because I made many mistakes and used enough superglue to fog up the windows on the house! I havn't built a model in over 10 (?) years...But I have to admit that had I not frequented this and other forums and still be buying copies of Finescale and other magazines, I would be totally lost and have to start re-learning things.I still have so much to learn, but alot of the work you do and others inspires me to drive on, and not let this thing intimidate me.Take care...

Of Course it's OK! This thread is moving kinda slow anyway... Summer makes it hard for all of us to get any workbench time.I know it is for me anyway.But I (GASP!) DO have some progress to report! LOL!  I've been chugging away on the WSO's 'pit for a while now,and I think I have gotten it to an acceptable level (for me anyway....I am my worst critic) Anyhoo..here are a few pics of the WSO's office.

I scratchbuilt a few items on the panel similiar to the pilots I/P.The only difference is that on the far right of the WSO's panel next to the Data Entry Panel (with the dark clear red stripes) there is an ejection sequencing panel.It has a yellow and black striped handle.This item turns counter clockwise to two positions.The position it's in right now is the 'normal' position.One click to the left sets up a 'solo' ejection,and then one more click to the left is the 'aft initiate' position.The way it is presented on my panel I will assume is the most often seen or used position.

Tonight I will post pics of the Cutting Edge seamless intake set-up,how it works and how it is installed,and the small modifications I did.Take care.....

Wrapped up? No way...not even close. I'm working on the ordinance, LG,  and canopy details now, then about a gazillian stencils.

Sorry for the long absence guys.....Rudy you are MORE then welcome to join.I apologize for not getting back quick enough.I have been real busy here lately.I am still working on the cockpit,and I'm getting to the point that it is bogging me down.I think I am going to take a break from the cockpit and begin building some other sub-assemblies,like the intakes,landing gear and such.I will try to post pics of what I have completed so far in the next couple of days.I have both the front and rear 'offices' more or less complete.I am now in the process of trying to get everything to fit inside the fuselage halves.This involves alot of trial fitting,followed by sanding,followed by trial fitting,followed by more sanding.It's a long arduous process....but I'm getting there.Anyhoo... glad everyone is still working on their Eagle's.I think  Jerry pretty much has his close to being wrapped up.And it looks good too of course!  Take care guys! I know what you mean about "crazy ride"...  Being in Construction, the summer months are busy for work.  That and all of the outdoor activities that take up your time.

But I have been able to slowly make progress on my pair of F-15As.  I am doing the pair that were the first responders on 9/11 (Mass. Air Guard).  The only problem that I have run into is that I need a pair of wing mounted external fuel tanks, with pylons.  The missle load on both planes I know I can get from Hasegawa.  Anyone knows where I might find some after-market?  The 'procurement officer' here at the 'air base' won't authorize the purchase of two new kits.  Outside of this problem, the pair of F-15s are looking pretty good.  Will post some photos after decaling is completed.

It's been a crazy ride the last couple of months.  Bought a house, moved from three locations to the house, jet ski accident, remodeling, lost my compressor - but it is all good cause I have my F-15 sitting on my bench ready for paint.  Should have it painted by the weekend.  Progress pics up soon.

allthough there doesn't seem to be a lot of activity here, i thought i'd post an update:

i glued the forward fusselage in place, and gave the complete model another layer of paint.

Next up will be pre-shading, and finishing off the paintjob. once this is done its time for the decals and the detail pieces (landing gear etc.)

progress is slow, but were getting there!

Well hello one and all...I'm plodding along on my eagle cockpit is done fueselage is together

and thats about it works getting in the way don't think i'm going to get much done

before i go on holidays on sunday (heading to the USA ! ) but i'll see how i go

as you all know, im still building my first plane, and i am now at a stage where i dont know how to proceed. :(

ive got the cockpit masked off, ready for paint, but here's the thing: should i paint and decall it before or after i glued it onto the plane?

if i pre-paint it, and glue afterwards, how do you get rid of the seam without damaging the paint/decals?

if i glue it first, how can you paint the cockpit completely? the airintakes are in front of it, and some decals go behind the airintakes as well.

so either way i will run into a problem. can you please shed a little light on how i should proceed?
