Dragonfly, that pit looks awesome, and I 'm not just saying that.  You have done real well, I hope I can get a decent looking pit out of a few of mine.  I have the top of #3 fully scribed after 5 hours, and have started the bottom.  I have been using the "E" model as a guide along with an F-15 book.  There are a few mistakes but nothing serious.  #5 should look awesome after I work all the bugs out of the first 4.  Big Smile [:D]

I'm finally able to post some progress. I had to re-attach many broken parts on the Aires set before I could do anything, then, the PE drove me nuts! I swear...it looked like someone stepped on the package before it was shipped, then threw it in the truck. There's still a few things to do, but for the most part the CP is ready to install. WHEW!!!!

How's everyone else doing?

Just got my Afterburner Decals today!  Gonna do my D as 80-0058 in the Flanker Blue scheme.  After my checkride tomorrow, I should have plenty of time this week to work on my Apaches and Eagles!

Ok, so it's been a long week.  I have 2 of 5 C's rescribed.  All I did on these were rescribed the raised detail which means there was minimal lines.  All in all they dosen't look too bad.  They are my first real rescribes.  The other 3 will be full rescribes.  In the pics the one on the left is #1 and the one on the right is #2.  I have since marked all 5 so I could see if I am actually getting better as I go along.  This is just the main bodies and I haven't scribed anything else of these planes.  The one on the left took 11 hours to scribe and has many mistakes.  The one on the right took 10 hours to complete.  I may have gotten myself in over my head but I'll live with it.  I know the rules state they have to be actual aircraft, and #'s 3-5 the D and E will be, however I think #1 is going to turn into the 1000 years Reich GB and #2 will probably be a real aircraft # but will end up at my local recruiters office.  I am keeping the rest :).  Here is progress on #1 and 2.

Thanks Mike and Mick for the comments.

I have admit I goofed while painting the panels on the side of the cockpit...so I had to drop them in the windex and start over.I just couldn't get the paint to lay down right with my brush. It was either too much or not enough. And after repeated attempts at fixing my mistakes I ended up pulling up the base coat.

Hey Albert....your project is coming along nicely, awesome job!

Nice progress Albert, the radome is especially well done.

I'm still working on PE details and the resin pit. I'm gaining on it.

Hi guys. If anyone is doing the 1:48 Tamiya F-15C or J...

The front inside fuselage parts are misaligned, and you may want to put a shim somewhere.

Here's my completed radar.

Here's the ejection seat with seatbelts made from cigarette foil.

Ok. I wasn't going to update on these planes until I had them rescribed, however, I just finished the first one and all I did was to scribe the raised panel detail that was already on them.  11 hours with the first sanding over.  I wanted to keep track of how long (total hours) it is going to take for these 5 C's.  I was looking at the "E" models and man that thing has got some good detail and scribed panel lines already, whew, Don't think I am going to rescribe for a long time after these.  Thanks Swanny, I know you won't see this but thanks for your tips and website.

Looking sweet Zone.
I haven't even started yet as I am working 10 hour days and commuting about 70 miles each way so I don't much feel like building when I get home. Disapprove [V]

LOL,I'm sure it's not so funny on your end but the way you typed it gave me a good chuckle.I don't have a bending tool.....(desperately need one though)....but thats why I passed on my Verlinden seats.HUGE amount of brass there. I hope everything works out for you Jerry.

Looks like everyone else's assembly lines are chugging right along.Especially Willuride's (5!?!) Thats too punishing for me LOL

Anyhoo...Whistling [:-^] after every bit of 4 days of work I FINALLY got my ejection seats to a point where I'm OK with'em. Here are a couple of pics:

This first pic shows the seats before and after I had to remove the clunky box on the left side.I never did (or care too!) find out what it was.The seat on the left is what it looked like after I got done.

Here is the completed pilots seat. The pilot's seat has the taller canopy breaker.Like I said earlier in the thread,I had to swipe the canopy breakers from the Verlinden seats and modify them to fit the Black Box seats. Most of the time of working on the seats was due to my clumsyness and getting the freakin' RBF flags attached and laying down without tearing them.Even though the tags are very thin paper, they still were like trying to fold a sheet of plywood without breaking it.I also swiped some placards from my Eduard stash for my F-16 and F-18.I used pics from F-15E.com and the Verlinden Lock-on book for references.

And here's a couple of pics of the WSO's seat:

Going to spend the weekend at the lake so I doubt I'll get much done, but I'm going to try to prime the cockpit in the next couple of days. You all take care.Later on...

I added some new scans of a few things that are common too the beagle and eagle that is allmost are allways over looked. One is the speed brake well, the q/d's for the hydro systems pc1&2 "left and right wheel well" and the cabin pressure regulators in the equp. well in the aft of bay 5 under the clam shell .

And i have made a little bit of progress with my eagleEvil [}:)]. I have sanded the intake trunks and drilled the anti-ice holes in the aft section of the trunks, started working on the eng bay, started the cockpit ,bay 5, scratched a mpcd for the main pnl "insatlled but needs some work", sanded the T.C.T.O.1040 "beef up plates" rudders too make them the standerd 1015 ones"no beefup plates most common on C's and most E's if i remeber right 1999 models from the factory and up have them so ck your ref pics  for this ".  PICS RIGHT HERE  http://s76.photobucket.com/albums/j39/eaglekeeper28/

Last update for awhile as I have started to scribe the main bodies of the C's.  This is going to take a while as it took me 45 minutes to scribe about 8 small lines.  Oh well, no turning back now.  I'll post pics when I finally get this part done.

Great photos dragonfly!!  You should go into a side business with that cooker of yours!

And those F-15 accident photos... Hope the pilot was able to walk away from that one!  The one with the F-15 making a large opening in the building, but some crew chief got his aCensored [censored]s chewed over that one!  Then I am sure he went and aCensored [censored]s chewed the guys under him......

I hope to post some progress photos of my pair of F-15As flown by the MA National Guard on 9/11.

So I finally finished sanding the seam lines for the main bodies on the C's.  Now it's time to fill the surprisingly few spots that need to be done then time to start scribing.  Here are some pics...

Here's what I decided.  I have primed all 7 planes.  Then upon inspection of the D and E they are similar in assembly, I decided to put them on the back burner and started all 5 C's.  These Revell kits are crap at going together but I am working with it.  I am thinking I am going to have to rescribe all 5 of these kits (oh joy!!)  Oh well, I am going to put these together if it kills me.  I figured when I get burnt out on the C's I'll pull the D and E out and start on them.  I have started by putting the bodies together on the C's and am currently sanding the seam lines.  So far it looks as there will be little putty used, I like that.  Happy Modeling.

Adding these seat parts are going to be the challenge of this build. Banged Head [banghead] Compounding the problem is the folding tool I have is junk. Shoulda bought the real deal instead of the cheapy.Black Eye [B)] I haven't even started on the harness yet....very complex. I should be painting.

Enough of my rants....how's everyone else doing?

Hi guys. I'm doing the Tamiya 1:48 F-15J. It's exactly the same mold as the F-15C. Anyway, things to watch out for:

1. The left and right parts of each front intake may not have enough material to even complete the bottom lip of the intake. You may want to add some filler at the bottom.

2. The intake trunks look terrible. Even in the instructions they look terrible. Consider intake covers.

3. The radar mechanism panel juts out too far from the front of the plane. If you pose the radome closed this is not an issue, but if you want to pose the radome open you may want to file off the locating "ring" inside of the forward fuselage. Only half of the radome hinge is provided (the hinge that connects to the fuselage), you'll have to scratch-build the half that connects to the radome.

Ok, I have decided to put the Chevelle on the back burner and finish it as I get to the color I need on My Eagle's.  I have primed all 7 models and I am starting on the body first.  I am going to wait on the pits so if I get some aftermarket seats I can put them in without too much problem.  We will see how this goes and I'll post progress pictures as I go.

Yeah...it looks cool but I don't think it's very realistic. This was just an experiment. I've got some other things I'm gonna try. In the mean time...I'm dry fitting, adjusting fit, grinding, sanding and fixing damage to the Aires office. Not alot of fun, but important stuff nonetheless.

Welcome to the GB Chimera!!

Hey Dragonfly, those screenies of your CRT/MFDs are very nice.  If you could find a green bow, instead of a rainbow style, I bet it would really come out well.  That gives me an awesome thing to try on the 1/32 F-16CJ that I will be doing in the near future!  Great job.
