Hi Guys.
Here are the pics of dad's finished F-111.
I'd like to thank you all for your words of encouragement through this build and thank you for letting me participate even though I didn't quite fit the criteria. It's the sort of encouragement that I've recieved here that has helped me to push myself and create something that is well above my usual standard of modeling.
As I said before, my dad was seriously rapt with the present. It made me feel really good and made all the effort worth it.
I've included pics of the display case as people in my family need to learn to look with their eyes and not woth their hands. Beside the practical aspect of it, I think it looks pretty cool.
This is my model of the Mirage that Dad had his name painted on whilst serving in 3 Squadron in the mid 70's.Dad's two fast movers together again.
Can't wait to see how everyone's builds turn out.
CheersMark
Very nice Vark ther Mark. THe detail is amazing. DId you build the display case also? I really need to get some of those myself as my chidren have the same problem with looking with their hands. That build is something to be proud of
Jim

I waited too long to get back into modelling to get in on this one. Guess i'll have to wait for the next veterans build....
Warmest regards,
Roger
hey desert it is never to late for a fellow veteran to join in . we would never exclude you if you want to join let me know.
Thanks Kenny!
I don't even have anything at the moment that i could get done by the deadline. I'm still waiting on the tools of the trade to arrive.
dont worry about it , what vehichle did you use in the military just pick something you used let us know and i will be checking the build till everyone is done meeting the deadline or not.
i may be building a blackhawk or chinook after this and still be posting on the build so you are more than welcome.
dont worry about rushing at all to meet the deadline :) just enjoy the build and have fun :)
Many Congrats on a wonderful build Mark. The Vark turned out amazing and I am sure your Dad just loved it. Very nice display for it also, I like that.
Hey Rats, jump on in and enjoy yourself. Heck, we aint going nowhere.
Alright Kenny, your next partner. Cant wait to see the finished Hummer. By the way, gret to see another generation of Modelers comming. Absolutely great photos of the family enjoying the hobby. JR is doing a nice job on the Tiger, almost better than his old man!!!!. P.S. did ya have to give him the Tamiya paints!!!!!!. Just kidding.
Steve

Got mine all painted, decaled, etc. Just have to install the clear parts to finish. Hope to get it done this weekend and post some photo's them.
P.S. mine Cobra isn't far behind
nnice to hear you are almost done john not too far behind got caught up with some stuff this weekend but hoping to finish soon .
well i finally got the interior finished so i will post some not so good pics lol tomorrow off to the camo on her and she will be almost finished with me attempting to weather her a bit. so i should finally be done this week pending no interuptions :)
Way to go Kenny. Thats a lot of nice progress you have there. It's comming together very well. Looks good.
Nice work there Kenny.
Did you paint the cammo on the soldiers too?
If so you must have the patience of a saint!
I can't wsit to see the finished product, and that joes for John and RCman too.
Keep those pics rollin.
Mark.
P.s. Kenny, does your camera have a button with a little flower on it?
If so, that is the 'macro' button (don't ask me what it means). Turn that on and you should be able to take crystal clear pics up to about 1 inch from the model. It doesn't work over distances greater than about 6 inches though.
thanks steve and josh hopefully the boy goes to sleep early tonight and i can respray the NATO Green and let her dry and get the rest of the camo on.
thanks alot mark , and yes that was my first attempt at painting BDU woodland camo not the greatest but i am learning . use to one color WWII uniforms alot easier. I have to mess around with the camera so i can get better pics got the canon powershot 10 mega pixel for xmas and just like a guy i havent read the directions yet lol.
hopefully more painting tonight and some new pics too :)
Great build you have there Kenny, good job painting the camo uniform.
Finished my build and went to take pictures yesterday, but the batteries were dead and I had to re-charge them.
So here it is
Used Testors MM faded OD mixed with some dark tan and a little red/brown, still not satisified with the color. I have had a hard time tring to match the OD we used on our helo's. Decals are from the kit. Rocket pod was added in place of the mini-gun, they were to be used in the scout role to mark target area's. I don't like to weather my models to much so little was done it tthat area.
While not part of this GB, I did finish my Slim-line killer, the AH-1T also
john both helo's look awsome thanks for posting the AH-1T also i really wanted to see it they both came out great.
well i got the nato green painted again tonight after the boy fell asleep. i will let her dry over night then hit the brown and black for the rest of the camo pattern hope it comes out ok :) thanks for the great comments guys.
here are a few pics of the new coat of green one her. used silly putty as a mask hope nothing got through on the windows. hope to have it all wrapped up by weeks end. mark i found the flower thingy and the pics are much clearer thank you i still have to fiddle with it some more though.
well the brown camo is on now off to the black and the camo will be done. some sharp lines on the hood i have to take care of not too bad though for a first camo attempt :)
John, Congrats on a very nice build. Both choppers are outstanding and well finished. Like the Marine Corps one better of course, hehehehehe.
Kenny, the Hummer looks great and cant wait till the tan and black paint is on. Shes looking great. Your a brave man doing the camo pattern on the troops, I have never tried that yet and I am not in a hurry to try it either, more power to ya.
thanks steve gonna spray the black on her today and that will be it for the camo on there.
the camo pattern was a bit of a pain but worth it . i am sure i can do better with a little more practice :)
hope to have some more pics up today.
hey josh , yup used the silly putty now have to go back and re silly putty her up and get the black on there. i will be doing that soon and have some more pics up today .
