Jeffrey, I really hope you reconsider leaving the forum all together. I hate to see any of the old gang call it quits. Your right of course but you shouldn't let things like that run you off. No fear mate, hang in there.

Don't worry about it, Cpt. Sponder.  I think you've done just fine up to now.  You can't help it if folks choose not to participate or there are a lot of folks who aren't interested in the subject. As to not being able to work on your model that much, don't sweat that, either.  It's a hobby and they call it such for a reason, after all.  You do it when you can and to relax.  Big Smile [:D]

Here's a short update for my build: I made a mistake assembling the engine nacelles, I should have put on the small clear part before glueing the halves together! Black Eye [B)]

I already have corrected my mistake and have started with cleaning all the seams. I'm find that the fit of this kit is mediocre, maybe this is because I am not used to handeling such large parts (they flex a lot)

I'll post some pictures this weekend, hopefully of a fully assembled "Crosby" (that's the name I chose)

At least you have a camera!  The guy who took some pics of my build ups is going to have to contact his wife again about the USB cable as she didn't send it in the package he just got today.  Bummer... Sigh [sigh]

Cleaned up a bit more on the Andor tonight.  It's going to need a lot of wet-sanding to removed a lot of hull detail that doesn't look that great to me.  Then will come some puttying and more wet sanding.

The Federation-class DN is completely cleaned up and nacelles are assembled and puttied.  Will try and get the nacelle seams cleaned up before I leave work tonight.

The PNT Models Avenger-class FH needs a minor bit more of putty and then I can assemble it.  I'm thinking I might name this one Terrell in honor of Capt. Terrell of the U.S.S. Reliant from ST:II.

I've also got a Cozmo Heavy Industries Constellation-class I'm going to assemble while I'm here, too.   Might name this one Stewart

chris, many people see the thread, and imho, it's their choice to participate or not! if they dont like the idea, im not going to convince them otherwise.. why? cause im allready too busy as is!! i dont have time enough for my own projects (i have more things to do besides moddeling) and i dont have the time for recruiting others. Besides, i feel like the people who love to build ST will participate without having to ask them..

As for starting the GB, i didn't know the starter should come up with advice/reference material, etc.

The reason i started it, is pretty simple: check the SCIFI section, and you will see a thread i started, where i asked if there would be any interest. and there was (is)

I do admit i should post more pics, and i will in the future! but hey now, its not like i  never posted any at all..

and about you being a ... uhm, "black hole"  nope, dont agree there.. matter of fact, i appreciate people who speak their hearts!! takes a lot more to step on my toes buddy!! :)

Ok guys..

I am sorry if any of you take this the wrong way. Or you feel that I am in a grumpy tonight..

But Capt.. if you dont have the ability to participate in a group build (ie: pictures, reference material, guidance, and plain old advice).. Then why in blazes did you start this build in the first place..

If anybody, you should be the one showing the example of what is expected, and not come in when you feel like it and just take over when you feel it is needed, or when you can get to a computer...

I have participated in many group builds, and I must say that I have held my tongue, purely because I am a common aircraft modeler with a soft spot for Star Trek.. But, if you want it to succeed, you nee to get people involved and excited!

Yes.. I am an ***-hole....

Thanks Chris, but I think your decals still might be to big. My ships are 1/3788 scale

I just might skip these ships and do another starship

Hey Bud what scale are those mini's again?.. I have the 3 piece adversary set with the TOS E, D-7 and Rom BOP, and I have been told that its 1/1600... I have the left over lettering from the decals sheet (I only used the Enterprise set) and so if they are close in scale, you can have the spare lettering and numbers.. Even has about six ship names that you could use also.. That way you then could just mask off and paint the red stripes yourself..

Interesting double standard going on in this thread....

 Dubau wrote:
Sorry I have nothing to post yet. I am still looking for Decals for my ships.

Well I just might have to start on them and end up finshing them with no decals

Jay's indicated that he doesn't recall who else was supposed to be producing decals.  I did a Google.com search, tho, and came up with the following websites:

http://www.star-ranger.com/OtherProducts.htm - Can't access this site as it's blocked by the COMM Nazis.  As such, I don't know if it's really any help, but might be.

http://www.gameslore.co.uk/acatalog/Products_Federation_Commander_267.html - as as the other.

Another alternative is to contact PNT Models and see what he might charge for some custom work like that.  Some other folks at Starship Modeler have asked that question and PNT Models was suggested at those times, too.

If you have the capability to print your own decals, I can make another suggestion in that regard, as well - contact Jay Chladek from the link on the previous page and see if he'd be willing to send you the files he's used in the past to make his decals.

Hopefully you can get what you need from one of the above.  Sorry I can't be more helpful than that.

Thanks Chris, I have seen a program awhile back regarding the trucking industry in Australia and how they run "Trains" in the outback.  I've hauled 3 trailers before but, what are they running down there? 5-6 trailers?? Man, that's Impressive!!

I'll do a search and see what I can find on the industry there.

Ok, thanks for in input on the Reliant. SOunds like a fun, easy build.Cool [8D]

As for the other  thing, I agree, getting the last word sems to be more important than production. Don't let it get to ya mate.

Its ok Ed.. I guess getting the last word in is more important than actually being a productive member.. I have said what I have said, and I stand by it.. The more I go on about it, the more he gets off on it, so best we just get on with it.. I shouldnt have let him get under my skin again like that. But what can you do? Ignorance for the ignorant in this case I feel mate..

Anyways.. The AMT Reliant that I am doing is the 1/537 (I think) kit.. Same size as the AMT Enterprise Refit, and the 22" TOS Cutaway..  A very simple kit to build, but it will look nice once completed.. I really need to pull my finger out and finish the Enterprise D that I am building (need to finish the underside life boats and finish the decals..) But I always seem to levitate back over to the Reliant...

Ed, I was thinking about your work situation, and I know for a fact that Australia is suffering a skills shortage.. Maybe you should look through a few of the employment sites and get some names of employment companies.. You would have a job in a heart beat if you can drive a truck and have tickets for different machinery.. The Australian government has even been advertising here on Japanese television to get people to immigrate in order to fill the shortages...A bit expencive, but if they need someone bad enough, they may pay your way..
