Progress is looking great, Boyd.  I don't know Russian colors at all and it's hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like a tan or sand base color with a dark green camo.  I'm sure you could fudge it and we wouldn't mind much.  Mostly Whistling [:-^]Big Smile [:D]

One other thing:  here is an image of the plane I intend to base this one on.  What colors do you think the camoflage is?  The green and european brown that I picked up when I first started this build are obviously not a match.  It probably does not matter, to be honest, since I am unlikely to get to the hobby store (since it is about an hour away) before this build is done.  So although I will use this plane as a guide, the camoflage will not be an identical copy.  Mostly I like it because of the white tail and the blue band...

To show that I am more than just a pretty face and a source of constant, and witty, banter, I have decided to post a few progress pics:

So, as you can see, she's coming together quite nicely.  I did run into a bit of a snag with some fit issues particularly joining the wings to the fuselage.  If you look at the third photo, you can see the shim I had to insert on the leading edge.  There are similar shims on the underside as well.  At this point, I think the fit issues were mostly my fault and not shortcomings of the kit.  I have been repeatedly warned with AA kits to do a lot of test fitting and to follow the instructions closely.  In this case, although I followed the instructions, I think I would have been better served to build all the major components (Fuselage, cockpit, wings) and then dry fit and fiddle with them.  Following the instructions, I did not build the wings until I had already attached the fuselage and underbelly.  So, lesson learned...  Still a fun kit and I really like her lines...

P.S.  Sorry that last photo is so Censored [censored].  I'll try to get a clearer one of the cockpit later.

Ahem, hm-hmmm, cough, ahh, ahem, ah - umm, excuse me...  excuse me, fellas....?  EXCUSE ME!!  Guys, could I, uh, umm, maybe, uh, have your attention for just a minute?  Umm, yeah, so if you were to take the time to refer back to page 83 of this thread, on 29 October, you'll see a post, by me, that references page 100...  Umm, well, I have to admit, I was really looking forward to the outporing of praise and all that by being the first to post on page 100, and all, and well, uhh, that was taken from me...  Disapprove [V]

Now, I have consulted my lawyer, and he says that my mentioning of page 100 first serves as an ex poste facto ergo sum imperiator el pollo loco del taco (man, these lawyers sure are wicked smart) statement that, in effect, reserved the right to me, AND TO ME ALONE, to be the first to post on page 100.  By taking that from me, well, I am sorry to say, but some of you have infringed upon my civil rights, done irreparable emotional damage, and cost me untold thousands to recover from my psychological trauma Sigh [sigh].

With that in mind, and as an alternative to dragging every stinkin' one of you into court, me lawyer has suggested a more reasoned approach (although I must say, both Al Sharpton and the ACLU were chompin' at the bit for this case to go to trial...).  Therefore, I must ask all of you to go back, delete any and all posts that have been posted past page 99, and cease and desist in all posting on this thread until I get around to posting photos of my finished build as the FIRST post on page 100.  At my current rate, I expect that to be around Saturday...  the 16th of March... 2011...

Thanks for working with me on this, guys.  I know I can count on you for support (plus I know you all fear my subpeona powers!!)... Whistling [:-^]
