Gentleman,

As the group moderator (PITA on a power tripEvil [}:)]), I would like to refer you to the GB rules (a more or less meaningless documentConfused [%-)]) on page 1.  The model MUST (OK… shouldTongue [:P]) depict he subject as it appears in the photo.  The wheel stands have to be there (but if they are not, that’s ok too).

Most important point to take into account here is that the one and only thing in the paragraph above that is ABSOLUTE… is the fact I can be a real PITAWhistling [:-^].  Ask my wife… she’ll tell ya.Big Smile [:D]

Well, that settles it I guess!  Wheel stands it is.

Looking great, Frank! I'm curious.....are you going to model it with the wheel stands like in the photo? I just think it would look really cool displayed that way.

Here is my progress thus far.  The fuse is buttoned up, ready for paint.  The wings are ready to paint, and the L/G doors are painted on the inside.  I painted the props and tires black(really had to force myself to leave new looking as in the photo!) and the landing gear is painted.  The red color on the oleos is the way the actual aircraft is displayed.  I am not certain, but I think it is some kind of protective sealant?  Regardless, that is they way she is displayed so that is how I must model it.I plan to mask the gear bays this week, and finish up the canopy after I fix the little boo-boo I had with the front piece.Banged Head [banghead]

Well, here is how she is looking:

Here is the photo I am using, shows the red oleos fairly well:

Is it too late for me to join in? Didn't see a specific date set for entering. I realise you started 2 months ago, but I still have 10 more months to go!!

If I do enter, I'll build a museum ship. Probably USS New Jersey, since she's only an hours drive from here.

I finished up the office this evening, and can start gluing the fuse soon.  I must admit, it feels strange not to do the regular chipping, stains and grime usually found on one of these!  I used a very thin raw umber and black wash just to make the detail more noticeable, then a little drybrushing.  I was going to use the kit decal for the 'belts to keep it OOB, but went with making tape belts with a little buckle hardware painted on.  Not the best looking, but I really wanted a quick build as opposed to super-detailed.  I started working on the L.G. parts today too, and what a project!  Lots of parts, ejector pin marks and mountain ranges for seam lines!  Not the usual Tamiya quality, but very detailed so should look nice when finished.  More to come!

well i wasnt able to get either one of the models. and i was at the Niagara Falls Air Base this past sunday so i decided that this would be cool to model...its on a concrete pillar in the air and some of the markings are a little cracked and missing...so yeah i think i have a better chance of doing this one than any other

Marc-

I found some photos of a Kettenkrad in a museum, think I may have to add a 1/48 version to my list of builds for this GB. Wink [;)]

How about 'The Dirty Dozen' Thumbs Up [tup] (the original, not all of those sequels Thumbs Down [tdn])  Or another great movie from that 60's bunch would be 'The Devil's Brigade'

I finally got to start on my Do-335a today!  Nothing worth taking photos of, just cleaned up the office parts and gear bay parts and sprayed them with some Gunze RLM 02.  Also sprayed the rear radiator area underside blue, and am waiting for the RLM 02 to dry so I can do some masking and finish spraying the cockpit parts.

Here is another photo of the aircraft I am modeling.

Luckily, the kit decals include the markings for werk no. 240102.  The only thing I have to change is the swastikas on the tail.  The kit decals are the black with white outline and I raided my spares to come up with the white outline only version.
