That will look very nice.  great thing about doing an aircraft... no cockpit deatiling to do... canopies usually blacked out.

Check the 3rd post in the following thread.  It is a perfect example of how to attack this GB.

Hi,

I've worked out what it is I am going to do. I was looking through my stash list and realised I have an Airfix boxed set of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF). They are 1/72 Spitfire IIa, Hurricane IIc and Lancaster BIII. They are owned and maintained by the RAF and fly at airshows etc every year.  I'll do all 3 as part of this GB.

Here's the BBMF website. They currently have 5 Spitfires, 2 Hurricanes, a Lancaster and a Dakota. They also have 2 Chipmunks for training purposes.

Paul

Good luck with that set. Im looking for the special set with the entire fleet. If i can get that i will builld that for this group build.

In my opinion a modeller should not have to ask permission to donate his model to a local museum from anyone. He or she built the model and proberably spent many hours making, convering and painting the model. It is his or her choice what she does with it.

Absolutely.  I was thinking the same thing depending what I do.  If I go with either the Stuart or Patton tanks that are within a stone throw of here I am I was going to donate the dio.  Almost put it in the rules... well more of a suggestion.  Can't force someone to give their model away.

Happy to add you to the list... just tell me the name of the artillery piece you paln ot do.  If it don't have wings... well I don't know too much about it...b ut willing to learn Big Smile [:D]

I figure I might want in to this... um I got a question... I plan on doing the 105mm in front of the VFW and would it be ok if the completed model  was donated to them?

Thank you. My local hobby shop still has the old box with bbd depicted on the front of it. If i end up buying a kit without those markings i will do old crow.

The GMW has the Airfix kit listed as being the BBD set of markings.  I could not tell you if it is issued with others.

Put me down for a Mustang. I will decide on the markings later. Can anyone confirm that the Airfix 124 scale kit has markings for big beutiful doll in the box? It will either be BBD or Old crow.

BBD will be as flown by Rob Davies.

Old Crow is flown by the Scandanavian Historic flight.

LOL  That's funny.  I just noticed in the photo and had forgotten about the old tires piled up next to it.  Hmmm.... I need to get my hands on some 1/35 tires.......

The fun part is going to be trying to duplicate that hideous pinkish color and all the rust.  I'm looking forward to the challenge however.  Smile [:)]  I am going to use this as an opportunity to make my first diorama base.  Shouldn't be too hard, just need to simulate gravel and weeds.  I'm going to make the Elefant look as close as possible to how it looks now, including missing gun shield, removed bolts on the superstructure attachment points as well as some battle damage (you can clearly see where a shell hit the front plate on the superstructure).

Hmmmm... I'm very tempted to make the Elefant that is rusting away just down the street from the US Army Ordnance Museum at Aberdeen Proving Grounds.  Lord knows I have enough reference photos of that beast.  Cool [8D]

I would like to join this build.  I'm going to build the mighty mo (Missouri) in her current display in pearl.  Now, if I hadn't lost all my pics I took of her when I visited I would be a happy camper but, my old pc had a melt down Censored [censored] and it had all my pictures from my visit.  Now I will need to scour the web for what I need.  Guess I'll be learning how to build water Smile [:)] I've never done a boat actually in water.

Interesting idea. I'll do the P.11c on display in Krakow. I'll get the pic sooner or later.

Yup you sure can.  I am considering a P-51C from the Tuskegee Airmen.  This is a shot posted by another member, dragonfly, and I want to do this all shiny and sitting in the museum setting.  This plane is also still flying.

I like to plan ahead. It gives me time to clear up other projects and buy in the kits.

Am i allowed to model an airframe that is preserved as a flyer?
