Hi,

here's a quick update photo of the progress on the Hurricane this weekend. It's a pretty straightforward kit so far. No detail in the cockpit though, hence the quick progress. The 2 wing tops don't quite match up with the one piece bottom, so I have changed the build sequence slightly. A fair bit of flash to deal with, especially on the small items.

So bad news the VFW moved the 105 to the back where it just doesn't look as good so I'm gonna have to change my build.  I'm gonna go up to Quantico Wednesday and see what kinda tanks they have up there still in place.

Got my Dragon 1/72 E8 in the mail today, along with a bunch of other goodies. Man, that is one AWESOME kit! Those Dragon 1/72's are absolute jewels! This is going to be a really fun build!

Sorry guys still haven't bought the 105 yet.  I have no money cause i just bought a $118 dollar head for my lacrosse stick.  That's the REAL dark side. hehe

But yeah I'm gonna try to get it in August and start in in November when Cross Countrys over, but I'll try to pop in every once in awhile.
Good Luck guys!

Ordered my Dragon 1/72 M4A3E8 Tuesday, so I should be receiving it sometime next week. Got some pretty good ideas about a base too, but I need to get my hands on a 1/72 figure that I can modify. I'm really excited about this GB! It's a very origional idea with tons of possibilities.

LOL!

Actually, the Dragon 1/72 looks pretty close, buddy. Besides, in 1/72, the only discrepancies I 'm hoping will go un-noticed will be when I build the 1/72 'me'. Wink [;)]

Aaaaack! I'm going to build a "mini-me"!! Shock [:O] Grooooovy baby, yeah!!!! Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Mike-

You could always shrink down the photo you have, so any possible discrepancies between your model and the real tank would go un-noticed. Whistling [:-^]

Hey buddy! I've been checking out reviews of E8's and that was one that caught my eye, until I noticed the track pattern. It looked a little different than the one I saw in Vancouver, but I did also find reviews for Dragon Kit No's. 6283 and 7302, which both have the correct track pattern. The first one is 1/35 and the second is 1/72, which is probably the direction I'll go. I have one other Dragon 1/72 kit (a T34-76 '1942') that I am planning on using for the 1/72 Russian Armor GB, and it looks like they addressed some of the issues you mentioned. All in all not a bad kit so hopefully the E8 will be of the same quality.

....and now there seems to be some doubt (on a thread I posted on the Armor forum) as to whether that is an E8 or not. Some have identified it as an M4A2 76mm HVSS, commonly used by Canada, so now I'm totally confused! LOL! I'll probably stick with the E8, as there seems to be more of a resemblance to that model than anything I could find on the M4A2.

I don't know how those treadheads do it! Glad I build mostly planes! Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Mike- Looks like a pretty standard M4A3E8, I had one of these new Dragon kits but traded it with a friend a while back.  I started on it, but was really not impressed with it.  The model pictured on the box cover has field added armor, but could be left off to model the one you are photographed with.  Each part had a number of sprue attatchments, most VERY difficult to remove w/o loosing some of the detail.  It was a very well detailed kit, just not very modeler friendly IMHO.  Just my My 2 cents [2c]

yeah tell me aboutthe honey-do list.  yesterday was 20 bags of top soil, about 1/2 yard peat moss, 2 bag of organic manure... all roto-tilled and then planting about $400 worth of bushes and flowers.

I had a feeling that's what they're called (and I've always wondered what I'd look like in 1/72 scale) Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

The first one looks like an E8, the second one I have no clue about.

This is going to be an EXTREMELY relaxed GB.

Frank... Xover absolutely OK.

Paul glad to here you still on board.

Ollie-just let me know what you decide and I will update the roster.

Mike- you are most assuredly welcome... and those are called tanks.  (Jeez... don't these people know anything about military hardwareWink [;)])  And if oyu use those photos  for the build, you will haveto bone up on your figure skills since the model should also have that guy... whom so ever it may beWhistling [:-^]Wink [;)]... included.

I have finally decided to do the P-51C as it appears now owned by Kermit Weeks in his Flights of Fantasy museum.  Kind of the a "Once AGAIN Warrior"

Don't worry about having too much on the plate.  I have a couple of builds before this one too.

The time frame for this GB perfect for me. Got plenty on my plate now, but by early next year I know I'll be able to fit this one in.

So I'd like to join this GB, Marc. This is what I had in mind...both taken on the streets of Vancouver (and yes, that is yours truly standing next to them). So, if someone can tell me exactly what either of these are, I'll find the kit of it. Wink [;)]

Marc-

Do you allow cross-over GB projects?  If so, I would like to work on my Corsair here.  I am building Corsair KD431 over on the FAA GB.  It is currently displayed at the FAA museum in the UK.

Hi,

I'm still in. I just pulled out the box with the 3 kits in it (Lancaster, Spitfire & Hurricane). I'll take a photo of it later on and post it. I'm hoping to get the box opened and make a small start on one of the kits by the end of the day.

I am still in.  Memorial Day weekend I want to go down to the Air Force Acadamey and see what they have.  The last time I was down there they had the B-52 at the north gate (still there), and if I remember correctly a F-15, F-16, F-106 at each corner of the parade ground; I can't remember what they had on the forth corner.  It will make for a good family day as well.

I'll be getting to my Elefant sometime late summer, just slogging away at my GBs based on the deadline finish date.  I've made a promise to myself to never miss another GB deadline again, and thankfully I'm caught up enough to give me lots of breathing room.  Smile [:)]

I got a 1/72 Italeri F/A-18 kit for this - just need to find some VFA-192 markings for it. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]
