Wildcat? Hellcat? Tomcat? Bearcat? Anyone have a Tigercat?

You all are intentionally confusing me? GZT! That doesn't look much like a Spitfire or Hurricane but it does look good ! Is that the quick boost engine?  The painting and decaling are flawless and really compliment a sweet build!

Bondoman is working on a polecat I hear? Thumbs Up [tup]

Greg, excellent work on the Hellcat.  Don't often see one in that scheme & markings.

All day for two days. I have been to Rome three or four times, and the Vatican is half the act.

My wife is a Masters student in a Dominican University, and has a study course to do.

I'll tell you more later and please send me a pm.

Jacob, I've always loved the US atlantic scheme and I don't think I've ever seen anyone model an F4F in it.  Well Done!! Thumbs Up [tup]

Aaron, what can I say.  The Goose looks awesome.  I can't believe how well that yellow turned out.  I'll have to file that piece of information on the brand away for later use.

Bondo, my wife was in Italy a few years back on tour with one of her orchestras (she's a violinist) and all I can say is keep an eye on your daughter and wife while on public transit.  Seams the Italians have more than wandering eyes if you get my drift.  Also, someone with the group was robbed at gun point and another had a purse snatched by a guy on a scooter- just like the movies.  But hey, the food is great! Wink [;)]

Speaking of roots and backgrounds.  Did I ever tell you guys about my Welsh ancestry?  I'm mostly German background but some of my roots here in NA (paternal gdad side) go way back and some of my ancestors were amoung the loyalists who came to Canada after the Revolution.  Anyway, there is speculation that one of my Ancestors from Wales may have come to NA on a pirate ship.  Two brothers disappeared around a time that a pirate ship was seen off the Welsh Coast somewhere and then reappeared in NA around the time that it was captured.  Purely speculation but makes for a cool story.

Sorry Bondo for some reason the site quit loading for me last night. Must not have liked my Goose. I tried to drive you crazy with it last night, Laugh [(-D] Serves you right for not taking me with you on that B-24 with the attractive but married pilot. Pirate [oX)] Probably for the best I doubt she and her husband could have stood both of us.

simpilot 34 I thought I was done but in the light of day realized I had forgotten a black walkway on the wing and the uellow prop tips. So now it is done. Hazards of modeling the midnight oil I guess. If the wing color looks to bright everybody can blame Nam! Make a Toast [#toast]Laugh [(-D] Just kiding as I haven't picked on you lately and am having Nam bashing withdraw!

Tried to get a better pic of the crew Bondo but my camera equip and skills are lacking. Have to find a way to shoot light inside or I get way too much reflection off the future. Here is the best I could manage. Confused [%-)]

What is next? I am scratch building an inside for the Ventura! Even attempting a bomb bay!  Been under the influence of Chucks HellDiver! As always I shoulda picked a better enginneered model to play with but I'm liking the challenge. ( at least that is what I keep telling myself.)

Also working on a Vulcan Air Defense Gun. Have a build thread on it called the Ultimate Vulcan that I have neglected in the wait for parts that are due tommorrow finally! Party [party]

That Vulcan is one I am pulling out all the stops on! Very nutso if your into details and multimedia! I think I even saw the CAG listed in the M113 GB?Mischief [:-,]

Bondo, when you go to Italy, could you please take a few pics of Ferrari's????? Reno as well this weekend you say? I would so love to go back to the air races again! Been 23 years since I've been!

Jacob alittle gun dust and a flat coat and I would say 'finis'.

Thank you for your service, Aaron.

I hope we get together soon.

Love those Choo choos.

I've got a couple of neat photos, in particular of Beaus in US service. And the whole file of photos of the p-61 that got shot up.

You know though, he (my F-in-law) remembers so much more about the war involving stories of where they went back thru the mess line and brought out helmets of soup for the Italians waiting outside the gate of the field, where he made a christmas tree of a top that was shot off by shelling, and soldered twenty flashlight bulbs in series, put it up in the window of the barracks and later looked out- the whole town was out there singing.

Met a family whose daughters had been "abused" by the Germans, brought them coffee in his mess kit, got it back polished to a mirror with sand, surrendered his side arm to drive into town for Mass.

It's why we fight, and it's why I get testy about the rahrah stuff.

Thumbs Up [tup]I'll surely miss your company but cannot blame you for leaving it behind. Sounds like your time will be at a premium as is. I'll have to double up on me duties until you return. I like getting back to the roots thing! My wifes Great grand parents came over on the Luisitania. I actually have a silver cream cup? from the ship with it's seal and name stamped on it. Pretty cool.

As for me family has been here for a long long while. Since before the American Revolution. Lost a lot in the Civil War and the rest during the Great Depression. Sort of carry on the traditions. Lots of service in WW II. Only loss I know of was the one at Normandy we spoke of earlier. Two wars and 4 kids later I'm driving choo choo's go figure!

Get some good pics while your there!

I saw your comment about the Black Widows in that GB thread. I hope you can share some ppics that story was incredible!

Her Dad had British parents, and he was born in Idaho. He flew in the big war, Beaufighters and P-61s. In Reno this weekend; one of my best friends. Her Mom died 16 years ago.

Her Mom's parent's came from eastern Italy to Buffalo NY, the Gdad in 1900, and Gma in 1910. They were already married and had a daughter, but it took ten years for him to earn enough to get her over. Eleven more kids followed, and they built quite a place in the US, but it boggles the mind to see what people used to accept that they had to do to have a life. The Gdad was an ethnic Croat,  Gma Italian. We're going to the village which still speaks Medieval Croatian, for two feast days in a row- St. Michael (RC), and St. Jerome (Eastern Rite).

We're taking a dozen reproductions of icons we've painted, as gifts. I'm way excited, plus we're taking little Miss Bondo too and she will get a good sense of her roots on that side.

So my wife is Croat/ Italian, and has a language that less than 2,000 people still speak.

I dream of finding some Italian model of an obscure flying boat that can't be found here, but you know how it goes. United will charge me an extra $ 100 for the thing.

Our time in Rome is a mix of business/ education/ pleasure. We have a week of business working on a program for the Dominicans to design churches. Then we are tourists for a week. And I bring the kid home to go back to school while my wife spends a week working on her Masters Degree at the Angelicum, which is the Dominican Provincial house in Rome.

The female dog of it is, and I've lived in Italy; the beer just sucks. I have no tolerance for wine, although I like it. But the food is of course great, I might go hunting if I can get invited and borrow what I'd need since I certainly can't take one of my own; for boar, and the women are beautiful. I'll miss you guys, but there isn't even an atm in this town never mind an internet cafe and I'm not taking the laptop.

Bondo!!!!!! I was already missing ya! You are just going to have to find a way to keep in touch and show us the wonders of Italy!  Didn't know your wife was Italian? Mine has a German Background! If we find a Japanese woman we got the axis defeated or maybe the other way around?Confused [%-)]

Aaron's gonna build a Bobcat, and no I'm not in italy until the 25th. Good lord the Euro is gonna kill me.

Jacob that's a fine model. I'd take a look and see what the antenna arrangements was/were and add that. Well done lad, and I've a hint you'll be ready fer yer next build soon.

Aaron that Goose is a wonder. I'm in awe of your mask and painting skills, and we need to see the crew one last time, they were little treasures unto themselves.

Italy will be nice, but I won't go OT here except to say that we're going to spend a week up at the town where Ms. Bondo's gparents came from. Really remote. Imagine a town where every woman looks like your wife. Could be nice, could be a nightmare, it'll work for me.

Alrighty  short of any suggestions as far as weathering or washes I guess I am ready to hang this one up. ( Literally) The Czech Model 1/48 Grumman JRF Goose is by far the most colorful and Bright bird I have ever painted and my first glossy finish in many years.  Like I said planned this as a quick build for a break but didn't work out that way. Feel free to shoot suggestions or critics. Be warned though I usually follow your advice!

OOPs camera died. Well your probably sick of looking at it anyways!  Holler if you want more and please I am curious to what else anyone would do to it! Thanks again for tolerating me! Pirate [oX)]Make a Toast [#toast]

Jacob  that cleaned up pretty good. You have good reason to be happy with it.  Looks like you did a little more than just spray a little future on it!  Paint looks much more even and it is a really cool addition. I don't see many Hellcats with US markings painted in the atlantic scheme.

Before you flat coat, might want to give it a wash of dark grey, at least in the control surfaces separations.  Will give it a tad more detail & visual interest.

I'd mask the canopy, hit 'er with some flat and call her done.  Next time, when you go to mask use Tamiya's Tape, can't be beat (although the blue 3M aint bad either but it's a lot thicker).  An old modeller's trick, take a toothpick, sharpen it and use it to rub off the excess paint from the canopy frames.  You'll have to sharpen it a couple of times, but it'll clean it up and look sharper.  Next time burnish the tape (you'll definitely want the Tamiya Tape for this)around the frames and use a NEW #11 blade to cut out the frames.  Carefully peel the tape off the frames, then burnish the tape on the panes of the canopy again, then paint.  You've got a good looking Cat there sir!Make a Toast [#toast]

Thanks Ritchie. Nam me thinks the chrome yellow be brightened by the flash a bit. The Humbrol Sea blue looks a little Ford engine blue as well. I always get strange things happen when I take photo's after dark in me work room. Sides the Flatulant spagetti tasting Bondo  was 3 sheets to the wind most likely 4. Laugh [(-D] Like to see him come east to visit but he went too far.

Q-tips are cool. If you ever get some of that annoying over spray speckels , a drop of thinner on a q-tip usually wipes them right off.  I use the plastic hollow shafted ones to cut at an angle

and apply CA super glue as you would write with a split quill. Works great.

Special preview pic of Bondo in Italy!
