Ahhh, Europe, eh? Right on! Assuming it's a business trip, where in Europe are ya headed?

Was stationed in Germany for 3 1/2 years, so I'm wondering if it may have been someplace I'd been to...Cool [8D]

Warmest regards,

Roger

Thanks Gentlemen!

The colors are Extra Dark Sea Grey and Slate Grey. Both Polyscale. I like camo with multiple colors since it adds more to the aircraft than just single color.

Unfortunetely I will have to travel a bit, however I hope I will pick something in Europe Smile [:)].  I will have my comp with me and I will check my messages Smile [:)] daily.

I live in Western Mass but going to Boston pretty often. I like Boston. Driving there is no problem for me - born and raised in Warsaw where traffic requires special surviving skills (just like Italy Smile [:)]); so Boston is just a piece of cake Smile [:)] after european experience Smile [:)]. Funny but while haveing some bad experience downtown Boston, requiring extra skills (from my side) to avoid an accident; I heard a comment from other drivers (at the next intersection): "what did you expect, he was from NY" Smile [:)] I was laughing really hard at this moment Big Smile [:D]

Even Western Mass has some nasty weather and do not forget : if you do not like weather in New England - wait a minute ... Evil [}:)]

Excellent as always Greg!!!!  Very impessive, or most impressive to quote Darth Vader. Looking at this and your work in the BOB GB really gets me motivated! Your painting and finishing techniques are top notch!  Shame you will be out of modeling for a month? I will be looking for your next project to be sure. I hope Massachsetts never has anything like Ike up your way. Wife has some relatives there at Manchester by the Sea and it is just a cool place. The drive down to Boston can be an adventure in itself! Hope you can at least stay in touch here. Great job again. !!!Thumbs Up [tup]

Wow! She is looking awesome, Greg! It's not often you see a Hellcat in markings that are not in US.

Stupid question...... Is that a green paint job on a Naval Aircraft? Or do I need to find another monitor here? (I'm honestly not sure...)

Warmest regards,

Roger

Best Wishes to all Ike victims !

Not having such problems I was able to finally complete my FAA build: Hasegawa 1/48 F6F-3 Hellcat.

There are still some details not done yet: lost a hook to the carpet monster Sad [:(], antena wires ... however since I will not be able to work on my models for at least a month, I decided to share this one today.

I used Polyscale acrylic paints - my first along with Spit II painted with acrylics.

Thanks guys. lewbud, comparing those pics to what I posted earlier really strikes home to how nasty that storm was. Glad to hear that they can fix most of the aircraft. I wonder how many of the personal display items and paintings got it. Probably be a while before they reopen. Boohoo [BH]

I missed not being able to come here and veg out looking at everyones work. Think I need to take a time out and build something just to feel styrene betwwen me fingers again!

This is the Galveston Memorial on the sea wall the day of the storm before any rain drops fell. The sidewalk is already flooded. Can't mess with an angry sea.

Aaron,

Glad ya'll made it through ok and intact.  Someone posted this link over in the Aircraft forum, but for those that haven't seen them the Lone Star Flight Museum took a big lick.  According to their website, the remaining a/c suffered water damage but little or no physical damage.  Here's the link  www.lsfm.org/ikephotogallery.html

Went to my favorite cash machine yesterday and when I tried to push the codes found none of the buttons worked. Drove around to the other side of the bank and found that half the bank was gone. Plum washed away along with the gas station next door. Boohoo [BH]

My town as others was hit pretty hard. Kids are still out from school all next week.  Power is back and internet now. I got a call from work saying come back Monday and was able to find an open bank and grocery store so life is nearly back to norm here.  Lots of damage to the homes in the neighborhood. Somehow we came through it all unscathed. Even the wood fence was undisturbed. I was very lucky and blessed. I live 30 miles from Galveston and about 8 miles from the bay and still the water made it to with in 10 feet of our neighborhood.  Pretty unreal how big that surge was.

Recovery is moving fast! Haven't seen my oldest boys hardly as they are volunteering to help out as school has been out all week and now for another we just heard.  You all have probably seen a lot more of the hurricane stuff than I as we have had not much but radio. I was feeling kinda like Dorthy from the wizard of OZ. ( That scene where she looks out the window during the house flight)

Here is how close the water was.

A couple pics to show how stong the wind was outside on our street.

These are tree tops in the park.

As I said we came out intact and well. With a home which many can't say. I'll try and make up for my neglectfull past week!

Welcome back Roger!  I am glad to be back meself! Pirate [oX)]Make a Toast [#toast]

Thanks! ANd like you, I'm glad to be back too!

Looking at the pic, things looked pretty dicey for ya. It's been years since I got to go through a hurricane, so I remember how destructive they can be. But t looks like things could have been worse for ya too. ANd I'm grateful that they weren't.

I'd also like to say "well done" with your boys too! Most kids/teenagers I know wouldn't even bother. With them volunteering with the clean up, it says alot about their character. I'm sure you must be really pround of em!

Glad to have you back, and pay no mind to that man behind the curtain! For I am the Great and Powerful Oz!!!!!Wink [;)]

Nammmm!!!!!!  So glad to see you and Bondo! ANd everyone! Been crazy busy trying to get things back to what ever normal may be. Helping those that didn't fare as well as us. Those are just pics from my street so seeing the news shows me how lucky we were.  Driving down to the bank today. Still had many areas with out traffic lights and saw homes missing roofs and gas stations that had their pumps ripped completely off by the winds. Said we had gust over 140 mph. Was like being in a 12 hour tornado! Much better watching it on TV than living it.

Now did anyone save a keg or 12?

Wow, I really need to brush up on my Piratese! Ya lost me at Yarn...Blush [:I]

Story, huh? Ok, it's got nothing to do with modeling or aviation for that matter, but I'll chalk this up to one of my embarrassing moments:

The hiring process for this job took about 6 months to get through. The day before I was scheduled to come in for my physical examination, my younger brother decided that he wanted to go dirt biking, and decided to drag m along. I suspect mostly to drag me out of the depression that I wasin, and I knew it would do me good to get out and do something outdoors so I agreed. We loaded up the bikes that morning and headed out to a spot that he knows of. He'sa hell of a better biker than I am, and his forte is trail riding. After getting suited p and prepped, we hit the trails. There was a steep downhill slope that was about 300 feet or so high. He launched off of there like it was nothing and just cruised down that Censored [censored] like it was nothing! Of course I was never one to be shown up by my little brother, so I did the same. There were plenty of rocks and ruts in this slope, and about halfway down, I manged to hit the biggest one I could find. I ended up flying off the 2 stroke and tumbling down the rest of the way. After ripping off the helmet and puking my guts up, he tells me that it looked really comical and couldn't resist laughing at me-it was like something out of a Jim Carry movie ! (He's always been the more sympathetic one in the family). I walked away with a couple of cracked ribs and a flooded 2 stroke engine, but at least that was it. I went for the physical the following day, and it was all I could do to keep a stright face as they were poking and prodding all over.

Moral of this story is, don't let your ego let you overexceed your limitations. But in the grand scheme of things here, I think that is one thing I can definatley laugh at myself about!Propeller [8-]

Warmest regards,

Roger
