Well if this is a go I am in for sure! Put me down as a willing  enthusiastic participant!

Yeah I am up for anything you know me! Is this a FAA Gift exchange or the one JWB is running. I Joined up with JWB but would also participate here as well if this is the case?

Richie,

Glad that you want to join the gift exchange.  I assume that Aaron is onboard?  Last year it was a lot of fun.  Ruddrat got me the Tamiya Spitfire MkI with some extra goodies.  Some of the others got some great kits also.

I would like to get this exchange up and running by the first week or two of Oct.  have the names back to the group by the 15th of Oct.

As I said before, if your in on this PM me your mailing address and the kit era and scale you would like.  Outside of that I will leave it up to you.  Knowing that everyone got great gifts last year this should be fun.

Hello all,

Sorry that I have not check in for some time.  Great to see that Roger is back, we all were wonder what happened.  Happy to hear you like your exchange gift.  Speaking of that I was wonder if the group would want to do another one this year.

Last year those that wanted to be a part of it PMed me their name and mailing address.  I had my wife pick the names and PM each of us with who we needed to get a gift for.  I myself did not know who had my name until the package arrived.  So what say you all?  Shall we do it again this Christmas?  I was thinking to start early to take into account that some of us live on the otherside of the world and the mail can be slow, ask DarsonWink [;)]

Let me know what you guys think.

Wish it were all that simple folks!Laugh [(-D]

I missed hanging out Pirate [oX)]! But I was checking in.....not lurking....just wrapped up in building (plus keeping the GF happyWink [;)])

The TBD....my plan was to show that WIP after the blasted SeaGlad got finished but the Glad foils me at every turn! And then I bust the motor to bits! (I really have a pic of the motor in a zip-lock bag!)

And really.....my PC will not let me upload any pics! the doog and others helped with advice and I managed to get them into a file.....but the PC won't let me get into it! This PC was in the shop less than 2 months ago and totally updated and cleaned out!

But this seems to be a virus thing again. PC tech owes me another month on his service warranty and swears he'll be over this week.Sigh [sigh]

I have begun the TBD, but after the Glad frustration, I decided to take out my learning curve on other thing until I was ready to do it right. The TBD is a great kit, but I only have two and want it just right.

The Kyofu was begun while other things were in drying/painting stages.....but this Tammy kits almost falls together! (duh!) Solid fit....solid detail....great instructions.....it has come along quickly!

Batteries are no object with the camera.....everything worthy gets in there!

Roger.....I dropped/smashed the SBD while tripping over my dog Barney (in my sig)....spent many days trying to scratch a new one, but no go. sfcmac (Aaron) is sending a spare, bless 's black heart!

But he's been pretty busy with a guy named Ike!

Thanks folks!

Hiya David! No worries, it seems like everyone has been out and about this last week. But rest assured, I've taken charge of the crows nest, and not to worry! There'll be no icebergs on my watch!Captain [4:-)]

I think with the multiple builds going on, your time has most definately been preoccupied! Always a good reason, I think. But with no build here (or bench, for that matter) I'm jut relishing watching everyone elses builds progress.

I'm really interested in hearing about the SBD you've got happening there. If I remember correctly, you are dressing up the old Monogram kit. No? I think more than anything else, I want to see that Dauntless fly here, since my own SBD has gone down in flames! I think I had missed what happened though. What happened with the landing gear?

Warmest regards,

Roger

Finally and update!!!!! Almost had to send out the Marines as a search party you scandalous crabby patty! This is not at all satisfactory! No word at all about the TBD? We were teased momentarily!!! By the pointy piece of delightful detail and now it seem to have gone awol with your band-aids! Don't you think for a minute that just cuz Bondo the brazzen is out of country that you will be allowed a free hand to horde the rum for your gluttonous ways!!! We need to fill your drawres with powder and set a spark to your buttered behind! To the hash mines with ye and curse yer hides. A fine example ye be for the new crewbies! The cement shoes be awaiting ye as the trip to the plank is short but certain Mister!!!!!

Now a secret plan for a P-39? How daft do you think me be! Am I supposed to believe ya to be having camera troubles after using all yer battery juice to photograph the ladies for a purpose that is best not named! Dern yer eyes and hold your liquor! I'll put the thumb screws to ye until you squeal out the purpose of this P-39 and other projects! Now it is secrets you keep what else are we to expect?  Full astern ! and mind your bow as peeriless waters approach! Tis only cuz to your youthful will that I let you continue to draw breath on me own precious air! Not fer much longer unless ye change yer ways I say!!!!!!

Man Bondo needs to hurray back as I just don't have his talent fer the language. The way he poetically torments Nam is just classic and I fall well short of his talents.

Good to hear from you NAM!! Your SBD legs should be there any day so keep your plans for the weekend free. We have work to do! Now about this P-39?? Hmmmmmm.

Sorry I haven't been posting much lately!

Mike and Greg.....have fun and safe trips! You will be missed!

GZT....I've meant to say what a beautiful job on such a....a....a...surprising choice for Hellcat dressing!

Mr. Bondoman!.....you just get a job!Laugh [(-D]Pirate [oX)]

I have missed so many great builds in the past few days so I've been catching up....but that is because I'VE been building my tailhook off! Many pics in the camera but cannot upload them! (You may have seen a post I made looking for advice....tried everything....waiting for the tech friend to show when he can)

Sorry for all friends here that I haven't commented....wiped out after to building all nights....so I just try to say 'Hi' in the Welcome Forum and call it a night.

Anyway, nearing completion:

SBD.....broken leg, but with flaps to work on

KYOFU Tpe 11 float.....ready for paint after canopy masking

P-39 D (in a surprise mode that only the XO knows of..) Some filling issues and soon ready for paint

F2A-2 Buffalo....about 60%

Gloster SeaGlad.....trailing as I recently destroyed the motor (accidentally) and need to rebuild it.

But there are pics in the camera for all WIPS above and I shall satisfy everyoone's curiousity ASAP

Greg that is one heck of a cat you got there!!!!!!!!!!Thumbs Up [tup] So nice to see one in something other than the varied US Navy blues and white. Really makes you take notice of everything. WELL DONE!!!

Bit of progress on the engine for my Corsair. Got all the pushrods on the front half installed. Took a pic with the new rods. Have also added my bits for the ignition harness just after taking the pics, so will be getting more pics up next week. Picked out the wire I will use for the plugs and will start drilling out the harness soon. Going away for a few days with the family Thursday-Monday, school holidays. Not far, just a jot down the coast, a lil get away from hustle and bustle. Anyway here are the pics.

Enjoy!

Besides work I plan to vissit some LHS and pick up few things Smile [:)] , and I also plan to go to the museum take some pictures.

The eastern part of Warsaw - the one taken by Russian Army in 1944, still shows some signs of fights there. Some old buildings there still have a lot of those bullet marks. The Western part was totally destroyed. If you watched "The Pianist" think of Warsaw from the final scene .. nothing but piles of bricks and death.

WWII signs are everywhere, around every corner, at every building ...

II hope the weather will be OK for my plans.

Amazing how Duetsche bier affects us all.....Wink [;)]

Yep! I had been there too in Poland! Of course I couldn't tell you exactly where. It was in the fall of 2002, we were deployed for Victory Strike III; it's a huge NATO wide month long training exercise that is held once every 2 years or so. Got to see a lot of other different aircraft (and somewhere there is a picture of me posing in front of an MI-24 Hind-D). The weather was miserable, but it was something to remember. I think one thing that struck me as odd the most was the condition of alotta the buildings. I remember seening plenty of trash and bullet holes all over the place in the area that I was. If I didn't know better, I woulda swore that the Third Reich rolled through just the week before....

Sorry, but  just couldn't resist sharing. Anyways, I hope that your travels are safe and free of complicatons. May you be forced to buy another suitcase in order to accomidate several new European Kits!Big Smile [:D]

Warmest regards,

Roger
