Anyhoo, some loooooooooooong overdue cockpit ahots of the Turkey! I was pleased with how it came out. There is so much detail in there. As of now, fuselage halves are together, cowling is on w/ engine rudder and tail stabilizers are on, canopy is masked and on, and primer is on!

Thanks for the warm welcome lads!Approve [^] I have not had chance to wade through all the posts that one has missed, but I was most impressed with Lt. Raiders work as seen above. Very well done indeed that man!Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

I too have been in the workshop, and will upload pics later. I am taking a break from the Crusader though as it was under threat of being window launched!!Banged Head [banghead]Banged Head [banghead] Way too many fit problems, so I needed a diversion.

I have started work on a FAA Wessex and a "special" USAF F-16 whilst I am on leave so that I may clear my model-making head and return to the Crusader with a fresh outlook. Sometimes its a good idea to walk away from a difficult build........Wink [;)]

See you in the mess room!

It doesn't come with a torpedo? Really? I have to find mine now.  I am so ignorant of the many types I couldn't tell the diff between them except for the paint schemes I think they have that new Flight 19 lost in the Bermuda triangle out now. I'll have to dig mine out and see what your up against. Looks like a bang up job thus far!

Thanks for the comments guys. Looks good sfcmac. I am using the kit markings for President Bush's bird. I didn't feel like doing the NZ bird which was the other kit marking, and I was too cheap for AM decals. I was disappointed that I didn't get the one with a torpedo though

Here's a few shots of my trek around Derwenwater, its where 617 Squadron practiced its Dambuster missions and its still used by RAF squadrons today.

Not my photo, but this will give you a good idea of what I saw blasting past me when I was higher up-I took the family to the summit of castlehead (529ft.) and two of these noisy things  shot past us at eye level! Scared the heck out of my little boy as he's never been that close to them before-he was cool with it once I explained what/who they were.Wink [;)]

Wow Ritchie! Your hard to stump. Those have the old steel/ iron brakes that make a horriffic noise even in RR terms. They sure kick good though. Remind me of a two stike motorcycle engine. LOL.

The Vulcan model is a real killer. Been taking my time with it as it is just nuts on the details. I have a WIP thread over on the dark side showing the build progress and it's craziness. Some of those Armor heavy weights are chimming in with good comments so I guess I am doing ok with it. Yes it was very lethal. When I fired it you could see the trees falling in the distance. Could you imagine the Navy guys having a Phalanx system against the Kamikazi's in WW II. Wow. Final Countdown moment there.

Raider 83 I meant to ask if your are doing your Avenger from the kit markings or something else. Academy seems to have so many versions of that kit I can't keep up. Think I have the George Bush plane in my stash somewhere.

Hmmmm The Bondomaniac was quiet last night. Hope he got a nap as he is an insomniac after my own heart. Poor Nam been working on the boilers. ( no not boilermakers) Hey someone has to keep things running!

Sorry guys been distracted with a rather complex Armor build. Doing the  1st Vehicle I was ever assigned to in the Army way back in 1983.  It's a Hobby Fan kit of the Vulcan Air Defense system.  Been fighting with it these past weeks while my Goose paint slowly dries. Whistling [:-^]

Think I have gotten it down pretty well as my memories serve down to the dents and scratches. Hey it's Navy related! The Vulcan is a common weapon on Naval aircraft and the Phalanx anti missile system is very similar although with more modernized fire controls and such. So it's kinda Naval, isn't it? Blush [:I]

Just got off work again Ritchie! I looked at that picture of the Goose you posted. Very possibly could be me in it. That is an engine I operate routinely and the photo is at the north end of Rainbow lead in Old South Yard. One of my favorite jobs.

Just to keep you all sharp I saw a couple more older engines, same type but different colors so you can test your identification skills. ( sorry Raider 83 Trains are how I make a livin) Laugh [(-D]

Give you guys a view of what I looked at this morning out of the Hybrid I was operating. It is the south end B lead of New south Yard pointing at T & O junction where the Glidden, West Belt and Mikawa sub divisions meet.  Pretty major junction still looks like RR Tracks and switches.

On the subject of my Ventura does anyone have any interior pictures of the cabin area through the door or bomb bay open? I have the In Action book . Fellow started a thread in Aircraft and there seems to be some intrest in this bird. Pictures of the interior are a tough order though.

Thanks all .

Ha been building the last 2 days mostly. Progress is entirely another matter!

The Cag left us with a fine Star Wars build in Sci Fi and Bondo has more than just that beautiful Gull about. Been keeping a fair weather eye on his projects coming together. Very tough builds and uncommon subjects makes him a man after me own heart!

Nam The ultimate in LtCdr ship has stuck to his guns  and is all Navy! A beautiful example of the Monogram SBD lies in hiding for only the worthyest of eyes! Inspired me a full 5 minutes he did to clean off me work area.

The XO is about working on some Lufwaffe projects and doing a fine job so that it burns the eyes and begs for padding. Right off the airfields of 1944-45 it looks to be. Rumors abound that there be another Corsair in the works to confirm his allegiances.

The matteys are keeping up busy with the schoolin that calls them and all that goes with that age.

Thar be a Corsair in the works here about somewhere as I have seen the likes and still listening for and some new members that seem to be locked away somewhere.

and that's the way it is , Sunday, August 24th 2008.  But to keeps ya happy I'll see if I can squeeze me in an update soon! To your health and absent friends! Make a Toast [#toast]

Cap'n Wyoroy seems to be renovatin' 'is cabin fer makin' better models. We be ons our owns!

Get some chow.....sweep down and we'll 'ave our tots in a bit!Pirate [oX)]Make a Toast [#toast]

Then it's turn to and build with a will! An' if this middy Mr. Trexx ever gets his arse aboard he shall be the one man working party!Pirate [oX)].....and will remain so until the scurvy Bondoman and the MAA gets their bloody claws ons 'im!

Pirate [oX)] Dave! Glad to hear your up and about even if it means working on the home projects! Take care watching the foul tempered LtcCdr namredneF as his question about yer back may be a plot! Shifty fellow he is, been thankfully distracted as of late by a very nice but undoubtedly near sighted lady! Has him struuting around busier than a one legged Rooster in the hen house but he is building and making steller progress so who am I to judge?

Bondo! Love to have ye on a train with me but fear you may be bored as we lack the grand scenery of the Mountains and oceans of your region! I get took look at lots of refineries and chemical plants usually.  Passed by that huge crane that had collasped and killed 6 or 7 workers down by the port. Very sad, looked like some one had nuked a rollercoaster park. Hard to descrinbe the size of that thing and there it was twisted and crushed all over.

When I get the urge I make a trip down to Corpus Christie or Lafayette Lousianna and take in a little scenery if it is not dark out.  Even saw a few cougars about once or twice.

Still pulling out the splinters from the XO's instructions that I must have misread? Speaking of backs, NAM! put down those tweezers! I'll make do! AAAARGGGG! Pirate [oX)]

Hi Dave....pretty sure I knew about the back troubles or some apprised me of it.

Yeah! 3 modelers plus me in the same spot! However....when chatting with anyone now.....if hobbies etc come up.....I'm THERE about modeling......all of a sudden the women thought we were plotting a murder! We just melted away to Jeff's workshop..........

Happy the house is getting in shape.....now.....about yer back!

Nam, that is so cool that you ran into that many modelers at one party.  It is so rare that you meet even one, usually because it so rarely comes up in the conversation.

Bondo, Love the collection.  Model railroading is something I've always been interested in but have never pursued because of space limitations.  I've got several boxes of slot car stuff that is collecting dust for the same reason.  Need to wait for the kids to grow up and be out of the house first I guess.

Sorry for not being around much lately.  Been busy with house renovations that got put off when I put my back out earlier in the summer.  I'm almost done so hopefully things will return to normal soon though after doing all the taping and palstering of the drywall it may be awhile before I can look at another seam that needs filling. I'm not sure if this report belongs here or not....but there is a cool connection!

Yesterday Her Prissness arrived and we went to my local coffee joint. The kid there (My Boss' son).....and reminded me of a yearly party/picnic that the host (another coffee shop worker) had forgotten to remind us of.......soon the cells were beeping and we all got on the same page. (She throws a great party!)

It was early and me and the Priss heid off to her abode.....packed a small coolerWink [;)] and went to the beach. Sun was HOT.....I like HOT......but it was HOT! Tide was coming in, but I braved the slimey shore rocksPirate [oX)] to cool off.......got nasty cuts on both feet from mussel shells.

We hung out.....went back and showered and went to the party.....

This year Kim and Jeff had a temporary tent outside....8 coolers of the bevs Kim knows people like......so we sat and kibbutzed. Here's the great part:

Turns out the Jeff is a modeler....this other guy Jake....a modeler.....a 22 yr. old Justin....a new modeler (What is it with the 'J'?) So you know where WE went! Outta the canopy and into the workshop!

Jeff is just back into it as I am.....Armor/Luftwaffe guy.....small but cool stash. Nice beginning set-up. Jake is a crossover to plastic from R/C.....Justin does autos.........you can imagine the convo over beers! I believe all three will be joining here today! None had even THOUGHT of finding modeling help on-line!

Well.....then the lasagne, sausage and peppers and chicken marsala came out.....along with the great finger stuff we'd been enjoying....so we abandoned the workshop. The Priss? oh yeah.....she was happy with the other yenta....having her Bud Light (yuck!)....she was happy.....great party and 3 recruits!
