Dead [xx(]Ah ok Nammy baby! i KNEW YE WOULD NOT BE LONG IN REPLIN! So of course I am not long in reactin!  Spent what daylight I had left and tried it yer way! Only dif was I used a brand new can of Tamiya spray Chrome Yellow over a well dried Light gray primer. I have a can of both those tester brands but afraid they may be gettin on in age and not mixing as they should.

Ran out of daylight so after they dry I will inspect em for inpefestions. I sprayed very sparingly. At a 45 degree angle adding coats as you would a laquer overlapping the pass. In some cases my trigger finger acted as if it was trying to get a single shot out of a MG 42.

Can't beat a double action airbrush for control but on large areas this was indeed easier and don't have to worry about running out of paint and mixin another batch exactly.

Looks pretty even right now and I think the Tamiya paint is the glossy type. Giving it plenty of dry time. If it doesn't turn out it be yer fault ye druken pirate scoundral. Too much time womanizing an not nuff buildin ye scallawag!. Thanks Nam!Pirate [oX)]

Aye!Pirate [oX)]

Been modelin' ye Dog!Make a Toast [#toast]....'ave a tot and relax!

25 years ago before and during AB times.....I built a half dozen yellow wings and ALWAYS used rattle-can Testor's Chrome Yellow. Orange Yellow too, but forget which I liked better.....also used a little clear gloss over it a couple times. I had good success from the first, so I stayed with it.

Biggest trouble was masking....but now with Future and better tape....may not be a problem.

Well here is another post to show the progression made using the playing with paper method.

I realize that this is not exact by any means but to give a measure of interior detail where there was none before. A quick coat of interior green airbrushed then with a push pin I just made a series of holes along the paper to give an illusion of rivit detail.  I think with a couple odds and ins added it will make a decent stage for the resin parts provided.

Now for a real question for you seasoned sailers..... I need to paint yellow wings and tail flats. I have already primed and preped the parts but am looking for a suggestion or experience painting large areas yellow.

I have in the past had problems with the yellow color same as white trying to get an even appearance.  I have a rattle can of chrome yellow. Also have and airbrush and am not afraid to use it! Evil [}:)] Looking for suggestions for someone who has fought that battle and won.

Anyone? ...... Anyone........? Hey you with the salty talk and eye patch! Put down the bottle a sec and model! LOL Pirate [oX)]

That's my only prob w/ S/S In Action........great refs, but only 2-3 interior shots in most books. I do remind you.....you can get MANY different refs from Alibris.com (used) for dimes on the dollar. Every one I've bought (17) have been in excellent shape!

Thanks Nam! I just wanted to get something in there that wouldn't take days to do. Since it wont show all that much when closed up. I experimented and played a little. Not perfect but I think with some time and a little more precision you could imitate and interior wall pretty accurately and cheaply. Have to give it a try when I get a good candidate model with another bland cabin and no After market alternative.  Sadly the Ventura book doesn'y have much to offer for inside details either. Confused [%-)]

Coming along sfc! Promising technique you have going with the paper.

Perhaps using a steel straight edge layed along the edge of your paper and slicing with a sharp #11 would give you long strips of consistent witdths. Scissors are harder to control even when following a line. IMO. Keep cranking!

Well here is one more post to the record. I received my box from GM today. Really disappointed in them. I have waited for over a month for all in stock stuff. Mainly wanted the Ventura in action book and the resin engines.

I got the in action book and 4 other models that I ordered to get the free shipping but for some reason they held back my engines and some Mr. Surfacer to put my total less than the free shipping and then mailed them a day later thus charging me for shipping twice.

Like to think it was accidental but with all the correspondance that would be very unlikely. Guess they lost a good customer. Just ridiculas! SoapBox [soapbox]

Anyways in the interm been working on the Goose. Wanted to share a cheap detailing move I did for kicks, Using just paper and scissors I cut thin strips of paper and held them in place while  dabbing some of the liquid cement on them. I had painted the area fist experimenting with green color.

The Capillary action of the glue and absorbancy of the paper made an easy application. I could position the paper rib much like a decal with a dull hobby knife very easily and the glue dissolved the paint underneath making a very secure bond that dried hard.

Easy and cheap to work with when compared to foil or tape. Sealed it over with a coating of Mr. Surfacer 1200 in the spray can. Can't tell the diff. Has lots of promise as it is as easy as cutting paper to shape your part.  Here is a picture.

Ready to be painted and weathered. A quick job but ready for paint weathering and detailing. Much better than smooth sides even with limited visability when closed up.

The model itself is good quality for a limited run kit. Plastic parts are on par with Classic Airframes so keep a dremel handy. The resin parts are true details and very sharp and detailed. The only flub was the bombs which  had terrible bubbles and gaps. No biggy not using them anyways.

Well I am building in spite of those darn customer service girls!

Yep love Return of the Jedi, your right as I have a thing about chicks that wear collars and chains. Evil [}:)]

My pleasure Richie!  I bought mine from Amazon, and last week when I was at Shopko they had season 2 on DVD there!  I didn't pick it up as I think most of the Corsair footage in season 2 was the same basic footage as season 1. Dunce [D)]
