Well here is one more post to the record. I received my box from GM today. Really disappointed in them. I have waited for over a month for all in stock stuff. Mainly wanted the Ventura in action book and the resin engines.
I got the in action book and 4 other models that I ordered to get the free shipping but for some reason they held back my engines and some Mr. Surfacer to put my total less than the free shipping and then mailed them a day later thus charging me for shipping twice.
Like to think it was accidental but with all the correspondance that would be very unlikely. Guess they lost a good customer. Just ridiculas!
Anyways in the interm been working on the Goose. Wanted to share a cheap detailing move I did for kicks, Using just paper and scissors I cut thin strips of paper and held them in place while dabbing some of the liquid cement on them. I had painted the area fist experimenting with green color.
The Capillary action of the glue and absorbancy of the paper made an easy application. I could position the paper rib much like a decal with a dull hobby knife very easily and the glue dissolved the paint underneath making a very secure bond that dried hard.
Easy and cheap to work with when compared to foil or tape. Sealed it over with a coating of Mr. Surfacer 1200 in the spray can. Can't tell the diff. Has lots of promise as it is as easy as cutting paper to shape your part. Here is a picture.
Ready to be painted and weathered. A quick job but ready for paint weathering and detailing. Much better than smooth sides even with limited visability when closed up.
The model itself is good quality for a limited run kit. Plastic parts are on par with Classic Airframes so keep a dremel handy. The resin parts are true details and very sharp and detailed. The only flub was the bombs which had terrible bubbles and gaps. No biggy not using them anyways.
Well I am building in spite of those darn customer service girls!
Yep love Return of the Jedi, your right as I have a thing about chicks that wear collars and chains.
