will the V-22 osprey work for this build?  last time i checked i read that they are currently in evaluation, with the marines and navy, but that was from the model booklet itself.  however i have found conflicting information in other places which say that they are already being flown over iraq and afghanistan. so i wasn't sure what the status of the V22 osprey and thought i would ask.  if it isn't too late and the osprey truly is being used then count me in.

the model is a italeri 1/48 v-22 osprey

OOOOH woe is me! stolen away from my friends that left me behind to be left to the whims of the customer service buccannetts! No sign of any help and they are making me do awful things like rub on sun screen and tend bar. ( They drink margaritas in this strang land. Seems tequila is more plentiful than rum.

I am still holding out barely..... I will not divulge the whereabouts of the rum key they seek!

I have broken sprue on a new bird for this build. Whilst I wait the long and agonizing slowness of the delivery of that Censored [censored] PE set! What better way than to pass the time building another model, the things we have to do.Wink [;)] The 'bag is now on the back burner till the PE set comes. Now that I know its available, I refuse to go any further until I have it in my hands. Hopefully my perserverance will pay off. Anyway here are a few pics of the new kid on my bench. Now all I need is an apprpriate engine from E&T! Enjoy!

sfcmac, thanks for the pics.  After this build and your Halifax(?) you need to lean back and build a nice Tamiya kit that actually fitsBig Smile [:D]

The Avenger is buttoned up! Fuselage halves went together well. A few gaps, but I'm sure they are my fault.  Next up- the engine

AAAARRRRGGGGG!!!!!!!! Pirate [oX)] Have the last of the rum in me flask an no man round to challenge the drink! Seems all the scallawags have jumped ship! Or gone to a party without yers truly!Boohoo [BH] No matter My duty is clear and watch the ship and guard (burp ) the rum I shall. Two full days now I have worked this vile excuse of a model and it has truly given me soul warts!

Nothing fits. Nothing is close and I would be truly disappointed at this point if it did! The challenge of the sea and food for the sharks I fear. Slowed up by my regular model service lady being on vacation and her replacement being less knowlegeable of my perilous ways! Two weeks I have waited and no service until today but still be refs and engines have not been shipped! The repeated simple instructions and her failure to understand be enough for me to fall in love with her if I be the type to settle.

Stalled as I am I must settle for a tot and keep until I cannot continue further. No matter since me be alone and I may relieve meself where ever! Curses be to the internet mail order and the quest fer free shipping! AARGGG!

The 7687 is actually a newly built dash 9 that is sporting the fresh new paint job that has given them the nickname pumpkins. The main diff is the control stand. The pic I posted shows the old configuation when computers took over the regulating functions allowing the stand to be more like a desk with levers on top. The new ones have returned to the oldfashioned looking sideways levers as when Air-valves and regulating reservoirs are the controls.

The new look is retro in appearance but are even more modern as computerization advances. Lots of digitial readings extc.

The hybrids are kept with in the city for the most part. I'll get some pics for you all. It has to do with politics and how the city paid a big part of their price tag so political figures can say they are cleaning up the world. Funny with all the chem plants, refineries and traffic here trains aren't really the polluters but you know politics. Actually they are kinda a headache because there are many bugs to work out in the systems and programing and a reluctance to report such issues due to the politics involved. When they work they run pretty good though.

I'll pack my camera when I go back to work and see what I can come up with. Make a Toast [#toast]

Hi fellows! Finally got some down time and took the family to see Batman then slept all day. I should get some build time in soon so happy face!Cowboy [C):-)]

Yep read thru the whole thread and saw a bunch of good stuff! Everything from cars to StarWars. Goodtimes and not so good what an incredible thread. Missed some of the earlier pics as they are gone to make room for new stuff but was really stunned by what was there. Incredible work! Pictures of Planes, autos, tanks and a bountyful supply of rum to be sure. No trains though? Gotta fix that. Whistling [:-^]

Not to get too off topic I snapped a few pics of the Carrier Lexington which is now a floating museum in Corpus Christie.

Raider I snapped a couple pics of a trip from Galveston to Houston. Figured your father might like them. We call those fellows Train watchers or Trainys. Have no problems with them as they are usually very respectful and safety conscience. They know it can take up to 2 miles to stop a train at speed and how unforgiving a 15000 plus ton train can be.

Coming off Galveston Island tward Texas City.

This Engineer has been doing it for 45 years.

Passed a couple of others on the way.

Coming into the Houston New South Yard, South end B lead.

One showing the Houston sky-line on a switching job I worked.

If your father or anyone else has any photo request let me know and I'll take some pics as I am able.Thumbs Up [tup]

Greg- Man, that is bad news!  I have never used Polly Scale acrylics, so I don't know if that might be or at least part of the cause.  My Zero had a similar problem when I tried to spray an acrylic flat coat over the top of a very glossy surface.  I think the problem is too shiney of an undercoat (the silver).  The top flat colors couldn't "grab" the surface so they started to pool together as they cured.  That's what it looks like to me.  Here's what my Zero looked like with a similar problem:

I ended up completely stripping everything and starting over.

Aaron- You read the entire thread?  I think you deserve an extra tot for that! Make a Toast [#toast]

Aaron- Looking forward to seeing those Tomkitty pics! Thumbs Up [tup]

Two progress reports in one week, I must have got my 2nd wind on the F-14 project.

I've completed all of the upper surface stenciling now (curiously the decal sheet was short  four 'No Steps' so I had to substitute 'Walk Ways' in their place, luckily in 72 scale this won't stand out too much), and just have a few decals to be added to the uderside of the aircraft, then it will be time to start doing the ink wash stage.

Chaos, panic, disorder ... my work here is done.

Wow sfcmac, that's quite a feat! You railroaders and your crazy hoursWink [;)]. I can say that because I know a few of them myself.  My dad is a 'railfan', one of those people that take pictures of your train all the timeWink [;)]. I don't know what you think of them, but they are just like us- we love airplanes and they love trains.  Since there are no train shows like air shows, they watch them where they can.

Well fellows. I have napped most of the day away and now am into the next day. Been reading this thread looking back.  Gone back over 100 plus pages now and just got back to Christmas 2007 Lots of good times and comradery!

Just been trying to save build pics as I go may try to post something with them if I can pull it off. Still have another 100 pages to go. Kinda like a good book you don't want to put down.

Happy to finally have settled down enough to be a part of it. Cowboy [C):-)]

Yeah Bondo that makes you think too much. Those guys went to work and never made it home. Pretty sad. They say time is the one thing you never can get back but reviewing the post in this GB kinda makes me feel better.

I remember well when an SD-40 was high road power.

I saw that crane collapse though I didn't read too much about it. There's been a series in NYC where there's a suspision that the crane inspectors have been on the take- there's been at least one idictment.

Cranes are risky business, especially when they are being jumped or otherwise moved.

There was a big collapse about a block from me 20 years ago and it made a huge mess; alot like a plane had crashed.

Yep We call them Hybrids. They are kinda an economy engine. About the regular size of a SD-40 switch engine. Very polically driven. I think the City of Houston actually footed the bill for a big chunk of the cost. They are distinctive by their 3 evenly spaced stacks. They have 3 separate engines and generator sets and only engage when the load reaches a point where they need to. I'll snap I few pics next time I am on one.

Yep Nam that is the Lampasses sub division thru there. Very noisy! Indeed. Yesterday I just made a trip through part of the Houston Port complex and there was this huge crane that has collapsed. Horrible was supposed to be one of the most largest in the world. Killed a half dozen people at least and was so big it looked like someone dropped a nuke on a rollercoaster park! Unreal and tragic to be sure. Has anyone heard about it on the news at all? Seems like those cranes are falling all over.

I just finished flipping off a P-39 wing section......multiple times! Still at it!

Lined up the leading edges.......layed 'em down.....trailers looked good...........not so today! Wingtips suck too! Putty time!

Thanks Aaron for sharing that.Smile [:)] Hybrid loco's??? Been out of the loop for awhile and didn't know they were developing them. Saw where GE is developing a 4,000 hp one that uses dissipated energy from dynamic braking to charge batteries. Anyway, back to the bench!
