What no more postings?! This won't do!  Ok I guess I'll do a Ventura Update again since the XO insist!  Yep FRank all thes kits are 1/48 and 1/32, Sorry Dave too many choices and not enough room for me to tackle 1/72!  Maybe when the kids all move out! ( looking around for Dee) Black Eye [B)]

Been sorting thru the stash for sanity breaks!  Working on the German Aircraft today!  So you can see the model box fort that Dee lives in is a real thing and not made up.

Ok Update! Been toning down my post shading and scruffed things up to give the tired look!

When you look at it at a normal distance it is looking purdy good!

Wink [;)]

With that taken care of it was time to really start decaling! Condensed a lot of steps like future coating and sealing  extc , pretty common stuff that isn't too exciting!

One thing that grabbed me that I didn't notice before was the stars and bars!  The Book picture says it is the intermediate style without the red surround. Well without the red surround whats the diff? Size? Well that and what is really noticable is the bars. The actually penetrate into the star surround by a good 16th of an inch on the later version.

I put up a couple pics so you can see what I am talking about.

All I had was late style but my first decal fell apart. Like decals sometimes do. I had plenty spares but it dawned on me that there was my fix! I put the wrecked decals back on the backing sealed them with a bit of decal bonder and after they dried simply cut off little slivers of the dark blue circle surround and covered the 8 total intruding white bars and completed the dark blue circle!

Ok got the decals all on and dried. Sealed with future again and dried, Worked on the props and last details while I waited to pass time.  Then started dulling this shiny dirty looking thing down.

Dull coat spray and rubbing alcohol followed. Really dulls it up will even turn it white in areas. To get rid of the marred white simply spray another light mist of dull coat and it vanishes. It can give interesting faded stained effects and is reverable so I play with that technique.

She is getting close guys! Did the props and drop tanks while things dried Won't be long and I am down to 1 week left!  Shock [:O]Dead [xx(] Thumbs Up [tup]Make a Toast [#toast]Pirate [oX)]

I have been sitting here drooling over the "Luft" backdrop you have chosen to use.... Now a 109 with a "Shark~mouth" how cool is that. Approve [^]Wow!! [wow]

The CAG is aloft again on a dawn mission, the XO is asleep in his cabin after the night watch, Capt. Roy has the helm which leaves...me in the combat control center. AARRGHH and HAHA!!!

There's a small trawler down by our lee in this gale, looks like she lost power and is drifting. Might be the one smugglin' rum, the bastids!

Lt. Summit, assemble a crew and man the forward Bofors- your target is her wireless masts.

Lt.Cmdr  Sfmac, a boarding party please assembled at the gangway, order of the day is blackjacks and socks full of pennies, nothing too lethal so stow the K-bars.

Lt. Ritchie, lead same and signal your success from her bridge- one lamp if she's laden with cane juice, and two if not at which point set the charges and return aboard. It'll be posted as Dave's fault.

Rum for all, and all for the Rum. It's a week from the Devil, albeit the fair D roams the storm agin, and we've toasts to perform. By my dead reckonin' 5/1 be but 8 days away.

Mischief [:-,]

Richie,

A man's got to know his limitations.  Good luck.Mischief [:-,]

Dusted off the Corsair (literally, been sitting for several months) and hit her with some Tamiya fine white primer.  Sanded it smooth in preparation for the gloss white to follow.  Right now she sits inverted on the ol spray stand in a coat of gloss white.  Will let her sit for a day or two before shooting the Gloss Gull Gray.  Don't know if she'll make it, but she'll be close.  Will post pics later.  Am in a quandry about the FAA build coming up.  Do I build one or both of the Sea Furies I have on hand?  Do I build the tiger striped Merlin?  Do I rescue the Corsair and Hellcat in FAA colors that have been languishing at the local shop (been there for years as the price tags are faded to the point of being almost unreadable)?  Do I say the heck with it and build them all and let CAG sort them out?

Buddy- Those who say there are no stupid questions have never worked in customer service.

Well  fellows it seems like forever sice I posted this picture up and talked the CAG into letting me stow away with the amazing crew here, Bow [bow] but now I can say it is finally FINISHED!!!!

Party [party]Pirate [oX)]Propeller [8-]Party [party]Pirate [oX)]

I am so happy to be done with it! On to bigger and better things soon!

Here is the onl picyure I had to go by on this particular aircraft which left a lot to the imagination!

Using my imagination with what refs I could dig up I came up with a yellow color for the top canopy. This may have been to identify this aircraft to others in formation that it was a group leader. The name Blonde Blitz would tend to lend itself as a nickname in such a case with the artwork created as an afterthought.

That's my story and I am sticking with it!  The only caption the the pic  was unknown unit in the south pacific. The colors and artwork tend to be an aircraft involved in and around Tarawa in 1943/44 comparing my notes to get this picture to tell it's secrets to me.

One thing that hasn't improved much is my photography so I took a mix of pics in sunlight/ with/without flash extc so you may see some color diffs from pic to pic.

Well here she is!

I may post this on the Aircraft page as I doubt there are a whole lot of thse built up!

Modeling skills are helpful if under age 10..... Whistling [:-^]

Well let me know what Y'all think!  I couldn't (wouldn't) have done it without you all! Bow [bow]Party [party]Pirate [oX)]
