Greg, a real beauty.  That would be a fine addition to any modelers shelf.

I guess that's a sign to build another jug Wink [;)]

and on a slightly strangley related note, I lost one of the seats to my Black Widow.  Don't know where it went to, it's just not there.  Thankfully, I had one of the resin ones from the LSM set.  Though it is a bit off, it'll work.

Fun little update - I found my missing chair.  It fell off the sprue and into the spares box.  I happened to be digging through there looking for something else and bam, there it was.

But I found I'm missing another piece now, the goofy little retainer piece that keeps the main strut secured to the base without glue.  I looked everywhere but can't find it.  Just means I'll have to glue the landing gear in one direction.

More Progress on Trumpy's big bird...
Posted by fjs3 on Friday, November 9, 2007 10:06 PM

After a lull in the action, I got some more work on this model.  I have the tail connected, did some seam work and began to do the little detail stuff like getting the wheels and stuff like that ready.  I got all the control surfaces done.

Here are a couple of engine shots, I'm pretty happy with the way it's come out so far.  Still the kit is a battle.  I've never built a trumpy kit that wasn't a lot of work.  This one is no exception.

Another shot of the pit mounted up in the fuselage.

Now..if there were only some good decals for this baby.  I'm NOT a fan of Trumpy's decals and was hoping that by the time I have this ready, one of the decal companies would have cranked out a few sets.  I may have to hold off the paint fest until that happens.....Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Regards,

Freddie from LI

Freddie:

If you want to redo the engine nose case there is a Cutting Edge P-47M decal sheet, they probably still have plenty of them since there is no 1/32 P-47M kit.  I'm still wondering what they were thinking when they spent the money to produce that one.  But then I bought one, so what was I thinking!

You know what John?  I'm betting on either on of these companies doing a 1:32 scale 'M', so save those babies.  From what I've heard a lot of the parts to do a conversion of the newest Hasegawa release are IN THE KIT!!  I don't have one so I can not say for sure but if that's true you might be needing those decals soon.

Take a look in your Trumpeter box, Freddie.  According to a review I read last night in FSM after I made my comment, the parts are in the Trumpeter kit, it was the razorback kit that was reviewed but perhaps you also have the extras.  Other than the throttle quadrant I'm not sure there is much different except the engine reduction gear case.  And the markings.

As for me, I've got five of the Revell 1/32 P-47's and although they are not so nice as the newer kits, they are a bit wrinkly like me and we'll probably stick together.  With enough aftermarket and sandpaper they may not be any cheaper when done.

Again you hit that one on the head.  I have the gear case and mags right here.  I think the pit floor should be the smooth one but again I haven't checked refs yet.  Trunpy I see is also putting out an 'N' next year.  "Short Snorter" in 1:32  You know it!

Yeah, you will have to Milliput up the floors for an N, but I don't know about the M.  Probably, or else paint it stealth black.

Does anyone know about 1/48 decals for a "Silver Lady" from 56FG ?

Recently I saw this aircraft and it is some nice art and interesting paint job I consider to use if I get the decals Big Smile [:D]

Well I finished the cockpit tonight.

I mixed 5 parts of Tamiya XF-8 Flat Blue with 3 parts of XF-5 Flat Green to come up with the blue green color that these cockpits were.

I then made some seatbelts out of Tamiya masking tape and paper pieces for the buckles painted silver. I weathered it with Createx airbrush acrylics and picked out some details with a silver Prismacolor pencil to simulate bare metal where the paint was worn.

I suppose the one good part about me being backed up in GB's right now is that I get to see a lot of awesome stuff to help build mine when I finally get to it. Heh. Wink [;)]

Very Nice Pit there Mike.  I like the subtle weathering, looks very convincing.  I have one of those kits in the spray booth and I have to deal with some paint issues.  Once they are all taken care of I'll post pics too.  What a beautiful kit huh?  One of the best 1:48 kits ever, HUA.

Carry on Sir! (Hand Salute) Post more pics.

Greg

I might have a set of those in my stash you can have.  Let me check before I shove my foot into my mouth.  Also, I think my LHS has them by Techmod.  I'll check that avenue too and let you know sometime this weekend.
