I would be interested in joining doing a P-38, but in a very limited search I couldn't find out what kind of paint scheme they had in North Africa. Was it all NMF? If so I will have to pass as I think a NMF is beyond my modeling skills at this time.

I'm holding off a little because I've got to finish another GB first, but add Beaufighter to the US list. 414 Squadron, "First Over", in Tunisia. I've got a bunch of pics. Unfortunately, no accurate color info, but I'd welcome that from anyone.

I'm sure Canadian individuals did serve in North Africa, but they were mixed in with other Commonwealth troops/units.  With regards to the Mediterranean theatre, the first totally canuck units landed in Sicily on July 10th, 1943. These being the 1st Canadian Infantry Division and the 1st Canadian Army Tank Brigade.

As part of the commonwealth during the war we Canucks were always considered part of the British Empire... as were all the other commonwealth countries.

Is it possible to make a Canadian badge? because I was going to build a M3 Stuart in Canadian markings along side the Pz.IV.

My recommendation is to use the Badge for the Brits/Commonwealth.  That's what I've done with my build, which is an American plane (the P-40) flown by a RAF squadron.

Mark

sounds good to me, I plan on doing a P40 in British colors, a Spitfire in American colors, and a Honey plus something German, air and armorWhistling [:-^]

Hey, I've been considering that one as well. I mean, not for this build, but just in general.

My Panzer II is gonna be OOB also, which will be a first for me (at least, the first one in a long time).

Don't have any specific link for Allied hardware, but the most used aircraft were probably the Hawker Hurricane, Supermarine Spitfire & Curtiss P-40M.  I'm not an Armor guy, but I know the Crusader played a significant role for the Allies.

I just couldn't resist either after seeing all those badges. Propeller [8-] I'll start the UC probably as soon as the build starts if I don't have anything else going at the time.

hey all...

Well sign me up for Sherman II - a conversion of Tamiya's 1/48 scale  M4A1.  I've already spent a good amount of time on research and ordering after market products.

Question - which badge do I use since it is an american tank, but in british markings?

For those into boardgames, there is a new one out for Alamein for a mere 200 bucks!

Same for me I'm afraid, I have a lot of builds on the go at the moment but I'm still going to try and make a start on the Panzer III even if the build goes a little slowly while I finish up some other stuff.

Cheers

Actually, i'm also glad that we aren't starting right away as well. Aside from clearing space from my bench, i do have to deal with work as well. Since the fires are still blazing, my work schedule can get kinda iffy. I'd been lucky the last week or so actually working in the QC shop where i have computer access. But Murphys Law does tend to dictate my schedule at times. I'm sure that with the christmas rush upon us, everyone is probably knee deep in work these days.

Warmest regards,

Roger

I'm just trying to actually finish something without throwing it at the wall like my last two. I have learned the hard way to carefully choose what kits you buy and make sure they are of very good quality...and I've also found out not to buy from those very small foreign model companies who make limited run kits. My Polikarpov was made of styrene as hard as resin and this Mi-3 has flash and ejector pin marks on literally every piece. It'll be a miracle if I finish this kit and manage to keep it in one piece.

9 Toe tanker, the one I am building is derived from the L6 light tank and first used in Tunisia in early 1943. A bit of too little, too late. Here's a picture of the one at Aberdeen.

Actually there is no character limit for signatures on this forum....but the signature area is limited to 100 pixels high. So doing something like linking an image won't take up space, however adding a new image will.

The badge looks good in your sig so you don't have to mess with it anymore, just thought I'd clarify the limit issue.

The image url is the web location of the file.  In otherwords, the weblink that takes you to the image of the picture.  If you use photobucket to host your images online, then you simply copy and paste the 4th link they provide for you.

This, for example, is the url to the pic of me standing in front of the Elefant at Aberdeen.

http://www.espins.info/PICT0074.JPG

In order for it to show up as an image, I click the little button on the message tool bar that looks like a tree, and paste that link into the box, then click insert.
