I was thinking of doing my Pz IIIE (upgunned to 50mm), but instead since there isn't an Italian entry, Criel's 1/35 Semovente 47/32.

I would like to participate with Spitfire Mk IX flown by Polish Fighter Team ("Skalski's Circus") attached to 145 Squadron.

What about Polish Badge ?  Polish Troops were fighting in Africa (as well as Italy, France, Norway .....)

Polish Army was the third in size behind US and British on Western front.

I told myself that I would not sign up for any more GB in 2008 but this one is too good to pass up so I'll try to squeeze it in.  Sign me up for a 1/72 Italeri Morris Quad Gun Tractor and 25 PD Gun.  If I have time I may try to do a flying thingy as well.

Sounds like an interesting GB & one that I'd like to participate in.  The start date is a little earlier than I'd hoped, but I think I can squeeze it in.  I build mostly 1/48 Aircraft, but I've been fooling around with 1/48 Armor.  I'll look through the stash, give it some thought & PM you when I decide what to build.

Regards,  Rick

Count me in for this one!  I'm just trying to decide which to build.  As it stands right now, put me down for the Academy 1/35 M3 Honey, although I may change my mind later to the M2A2 Halftrack, or M4A1 Sherman.  I'd like to build some allied stuff for a change of pace.  Cool [8D]

There are FIVE different badges to get? Hooooo boy, now I have to re-think my GB schedule. Big Smile [:D] Will definitely be starting with a German entry (Marder II/III or Sd.Kfz.222), will make my mind up tonight and PM shortly! Great build idea! Can't wait to get started!

War in the Desert - African campaign GB - 12/9/07 to 5/13/08

Hello everyone,

After discussing it in both the Aircraft and Armor forums, it seems there is significant interest in this subject to start a Group Build. The guidelines will be as follows:

  • Open to Aircraft and Armor, all scales
  • Unstarted or barely started kits only (this is negotiable if you have a qualifying kit that you've already started)
  • Any aftermarket or scratchbuilding allowed
  • Subject must be a vehicle or aircraft used in the Northern and western desert campigns (Lybia, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia, 1940-1943), or the Eastern desert campaign (Sudan, British Somaliand, Kenya, Eritrea, Italian Somaliand, and Ethiopia, 1940-1941). Note that this Group Build does not include the Italian campaign.
  • Timeframe: December 9, 2007 to May 13, 2008. Incidentally my badges all say December 12,Angry [:(!] but we will begin the 9th anyway. (December 9, 1940 was the date Operation Compass was launched, escalating the hostilities in Africa to full-blown war. May 13, 1943 was the date Axis forces surrendered.)
  • Badges: There are six different badges for this GB, one for each major nation involved. You may claim the appropriate badge at the start of the GB, but may not use the badge with the campaign medal until your build is completed. This way, everyone has something to show for participation, but those who finish get a special reward.

The idea here is not necessarily to collect as many badges as possible, but to display which nationality of models you built (and if you finished or not)

Germany:

Italy:

England/Commonwealth:

United States:

Poland:

France:

Remember, you can't claim the badge with the campaign medal until you are finished!Wink [;)]

I would request that you upload these badges to your own photobucket account so my bandwidth isn't used up.

There were a lot of if's and maybe's in the other threads, hence why I have not copied the entries from them. It would be appreciated if you would PM me your entries, it's easier to keep everything straight that way. Please include kit and scale.
