Good luck Kenny. Been there and it's not nice, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel - just takes a while to find out where and what it is.

Best wishes, Paul.

Ack!!!!  We hit page 2 yuck!!!

On another note I received my Voodoo gray yesterday there is much rejoycingBig Smile [:D].  I picked up Patrick Martin's book on CAF markings & colors (an excelent book well worth the price) and going through the Voodoo section I noticed that I goofed when painting the metal panels aft.  I did not bring the color far enough aft so I'll be giving it another shot of aluminium to bring it up to the proper area what a pain.

A note for those of you that are contemplating using Vallejo Model Air metal colors they go on great and look good but take longer to cure than the regular Model Air colors.  For the voodoo it took a good 72 Hrs and I brought my model to my office to cure as it's dryer than in the basement.

That's it for now .

Cheers

Bringing your toys to work to watch the paint dry?!?!?  That just sounds so wrong on so many levels Bear Wink [;)]!

Progress is stalled on my E555 for the moment.  Gottat another build to get out and life at home has been busy.  I'll get back to it soon hoppfully.

Thanks for all the comments guy's. You see where I had to apply putty, well it's the story of dryfit perfectly ten times and a perfect fit every time. Commit to gluing and it would not snap into place the same way. Go figure. Cant get work done until next week but it will be ready for paint by then. There are people eating dinner every day on my work bench !!!!!!

Good one Bear!!!. Yeah it's hard to glue a canopy on when you accidentally pour mustard on the part instead of glue.

No Steve, we can't, and still it's down there again!

I must get going with my build, but I had a lot of other work to do lately, and I just got a new job so it's been kind of exhausting.

Cheers,

Azgaron

New progress pics!

Resin wheel wells are installed, nacelles placed on the wings and the wing halves glued together.

The kit instructions noted the well sides to be silver, while the top of the well was Br. Interior Green.  I double checked that against my resources and for the most part it seemed to hold true.  So, that's what I painted the wells. Tongue [:P]

Next is to assemble the main landing gear.  I'm using the True Details resin main wheels.  Frankly the Tamiya detail on the kit wheels is better particularly on the hubs, but the TD resin wheels don't have the darn seam running down the center.  Typical to TD wheels, the flattened bulge is a little overstated.

I'm also using Ultracast mud guards.  These do have better detail as you can see.  Plus they eliminate the headache of trying to fill that ridiculous ejector mark.

Here is the completed assembly of the first set of landing gear.  Still have some paint touchups to finish, the darn seam on the oil tank I'm leaving alone as you'll never see it once the gear is installed, and later I'll apply a wash to add some depth.

Slowly but surely I'm plugging away at this. Thanks for looking! Big Smile [:D]

Arki, very nice progress on the Mossie and the extra detail parts look like they are worth it. Really like the way the landing gear turned out. Keep the progress photos comming.

Arki The gear turned out great nice progress. In your opinion is it worth going with resin wheels, I know I've been happy with replacing a kits seat with resin seats however I've been unsure about replacing the wheels.

Kenny nice to see you back.

Cheers

Kenny, thanks!  We're happy to still have you around.  Thumbs Up [tup]

dupes, thanks!  If you haven't tried it, use Pollyscale's Grimy Black for wheels.  It's just about perfect for that matte off-black color of tire rubber.

Bear, thanks!  You know, that's a good question.  Kit seats are usually lacking in detail.  For wheels that doesn't always hold true.  Tamiya, Acc Min and Hasegawa kit wheels can be pretty nice.

So, it depends on resin manufacturer, the detail of the kit product, and what you find acceptable for detail on your builds.  Ultracast makes great resin wheel replacements that are usually always better than the kit product.  Aries, Cutting Edge (if you can find them) and True Details are more middle of the road products, IMHO.  I have some Royale Resin wheels for the Revell A-10 and Tamiya F-16CJ that look really good compared to the kit offerings.  I also have some Golden Dragon wheels for an F/A-18C that look average.  These all add the weighted look which I like.  However, True Detail wheels tend to look like the tire is flat vs. weighted.

If the weighted look isn't a detail requirement for you, I'd recommend only getting resin wheels if the kit products 1) are total drek, 2) will require considerable effort to eliminate seams in a complicated tread pattern (Mosquito!).

Hope that helps.
