HK, great job on the beaufighter. Invasion stripes are very well done and the overall finish is excellent.

Kenny, nice set of rails you have there. Very realistic and will be a great base for the gun.

Hey Arki, you win the grand prize for being the first one to notice!!!  Now come up to Canada and I'll give you the prize! Wink [;)]

Gollum may return at a later date but right now I'm getting psyched up for the Canadian GB and the new avatar is the nose art from my Uncle's Halifax.  I won't be doing the Halifax for the GB, (still waiting for a new tool release) rather the Lancaster that he converted to at the end of the war.  As far as I know the nose art was not transfered to the Lancaster but it is inspirational none the less.

Uh, before I jump in the car, what's the prize? Wink [;)]

I'll have to watch the Canadian GB closely for the appearance of the Lancaster. Thumbs Up [tup]

Tales from the Workbench, literally.  Snapped a few quick progress photos at my work area as I was too lazy to set up the lightbox.

With my trusty Dremel I've removed the front and rear well walls.

Next, notice the locating holes for the gear at the top of the well on the wing.

That all has to be removed for the resin firewall.  The ole Dremel paying for itself now! Big Smile [:D]

As you can see, the resin firewall replaces the locating holes.  It's a little rough at the moment, but I'll clean it up later.  Sorry for my darn fingers making an appearance.  Nothing is glued in, and nothing wanted to sit still without a little pressure applied to hold it.

And the overall shot.  Still have a little more sanding and dryfitting to get everything to close tightly but the majority of the surgery is finished.  At least on this wing.  Now to start the other. Dead [xx(]

Cheers

thanks raptor :)

arki she looks great

well i added a heavy black wash to the tracks to try to make them look like they are soaked in creosole (preservative) i am going to leave hem with the sheen on them they look alittle glossy but with the oil on them they stay a little shiny. once this is dry i will add a little rust by the cleats where it would have dripped off . and thank you doog if you stop by for helping out.

Nice work Akri.  I think one of the more things is to modify a kit and seamlessly fit in new stuff.  Your work is top notch.

Kenny, what process did you use to get such a nice rust effect on your rails.  I think that your rust turned out better than mine did on the loco.  I'm hoping to have rails in my future.  Smile [:)]

to rust them up first i sprayed they tracks with a dark gray , then i used tamiya weathering master rust and orange rust , after that i used rustall 4 coats on each side , for the silver on top i used the tamiya weather master again

Well, I'm not quite sure my work is top notch, but I do have fun doing it.  And I do appreciate the compliment.  Thanks, RMV! Thumbs Up [tup]

The other wheel well is now modified.  It went faster since I "learned" on the other.  Next to actually assemble everything and then prime the wells.

hey fellas ,

Well on a sad note there is a possibility i may not finish this build . I will be able to check in on the build and be here to see what is happening . But , for me my work bench stash and tools will have a home but they will be there by themselves. I am hoping things will get resolved quickly and i can come home to them (more importantly my family). In the mean time there is no room where i am going to be living to build paint etc etc etc. I am hoping and praying I can get my family life straightened out and be back where i belong. Thank you all for being understanding .
