Thanks for the comments guys, but its not done yet....I could still screw it up!!Sign - Oops [#oops]  Cross your fingers that I don't do something stoopid!

Panzer88, I used the sponge chipping method over the white wash.  I still need to tweak the look a little.  Got home late yesterday from an out of town training session so I'll resume tonight with a vengeance!

dupes, glad to hear that SMJ's concentrating on his hobby area...I wish I had one of those!!  BTW, wing_nut picked up a new Dragon Pz IV F1, Manny's thinking of doing a Dragon Pz IV F2.  Maybe you and I could go head to head with them with our Tristar Pz IVs??  Just a thought!!

Hmmmm...is that some sort of challenge? Laugh [(-D]

I've actually considered doing a Panzer IV GB...so much stuff based on that chassis, it's amazing! Was considering allowing anything that has the base set up, but if there's enough interest for just the actual "tanks"...Mischief [:-,]

I've got a Dragon Pz.Kpfw. IV Ausf. G that's just itching to be built!

Tonight I'm attaching the tools and am going to apply an oil wash.  I brought my track links to work today so hopefully I can finish the cleanup during lunch and get them assembled tonight.  I need to get some paint on them ASAP and a little weathering.  I'm not sure I'll be done by close of business on the 1st, but hopefully I'll far enough along to have earned a badge.  Bow [bow]

Hey, I'l be all over a Pz IV GB!!  I've got 4 in the stash and itching to get a 5th....probably Dragon's new F1 smart kit!  Scotte, if you have the new Ausf G. Kharkov its a sweet kit!  So much detail and very nicely engineered.  Instructions leave someting to be desired though.

I have the earlier release of their F2 (G) which I believe the Kharkov kit is based upon.  Very nice kit!  Big Smile [:D]

i can imagine how frustrating it would be to fit a half dozen links only to watch them jiggled apart by those pesky tremors.if you are in fear of losing that armor collection to an 8.0 shaker just send them up here to me.Whistling [:-^].hope this potential crisis you and your family may be facing passes without incident my friend as no one should suffer the aftermath of such a disaster.so unplug that vibrating bed and keep us posted.

Here is the Pz.Kpfw.38(t) Ausf. F ready for the washes.  I'm about 2/3 of the way cleaning up the track links.  It's been a quiet evening so far, no major earthquake activity to report since this morning.

Hey dupes, Ive got a bit of a problem. I got really far along with my S tank, I got all the camo painted. It needs a gloss coat for decals, and then weathering. I dont think ill be able to do that by the end date though. College apps and AP testing and finals just kicked into high gear in my high school (last push before college is driving me nuts) and I have finals all over the place. Is there any way I can rain check the build untill after around may 17th? Thats when my APs and finals should be done and I can get all my free time back.

The wood has been painted and two washes applied.  Pics in the morning as it's still a little wet and shiny.  Burger [BG]

MG42 - I'll tell you the same thing I told Bob...if your build is far enough along by the end date (tomorrow!) that it could be construed as "finished" then you would certainly be eligible for the GB badge...if you were to add "additional" weathering after the finish date, that's entirely up to you. Wink [;)] Past that, I'm going to have to say no to any extensions. If you're willing to throw it on the shelf for a while, I would certainly allow it to be entered in Winter Warriors 2 in a few months. Thumbs Up [tup] Any chance you have some current photos?

Scott - can't wait for your morning pics! Big Smile [:D]

Stuka update - I think all I have left to do tonight (besides pics!) is some exhaust staining...thinking of trying to put a drop or two of Tamiya "smoke" near the pipes, then blow it back with my AB - anyone ever tried this? Just trying to come up with something other than pastels.

Hey dupes, are you going to make a "finished builds" thread for this GB?

Hey guys, still working on the washes and weathering.  Here are some shots after last nights washes.  I still have a lot more weathering to do on the springs, muffler/exhaust, and more washes to do overall.  I did a black oil wash on the machine guns, muffler, engine grill and leaf springs this morning.  Towards the end I will do some white streaking using the dot wash method.  I hope to be able to finish the individual link cleanup today at lunch which will allow me to assemble the links between washes tonight.  If all goes well I may be able to paint the tracks tonight.  I think I'm going to miss the deadline by a day or two......  Sad [:(]

Ahhh, a solid update Thumbs Up [tup]...however Scott, you need to BUILD FASTER! Tongue [:P] Remember, the build ends on May 1st, so technically you don't need to have finished pics up until the 2nd. Whistling [:-^]

Townsy - I think that next week I may actually get access to broadband for a little while - and what I was planning on doing is going back through the entire build and pull out a single pic of each finished build that everyone has done, and put it into one thread over in the armor forum. That way, in case there are people who aren't still involved in the build (anyone seen Biffa lately?), they're still represented, and we get a complete record of what everyone produced. Make a Toast [#toast] If anyone has a "favorite" pic of their build they'd like to nominate, tell me now! Laugh [(-D] If you can let me know what page of the GB and a pic number, that would be best. Otherwise I'll use my discretion to find the best one. Wink [;)]

That's a really good idea Dupes, just don't add any of my current Strv.103B pics that are up now, I will have better ones by next weekend that should do it more justice.Cool [8D]

UNIONIZING? Now waaaaaaaait just a minute...I believe when you all signed legally binding contracts to get into this GB that you were informed of the expected completion dates - ...what? There WERE no contracts? Who dropped the ball on that one? DUPES? Laugh [(-D]

Townsy - no worries, it's going to be a week or two until I get to round up all of the photos and organize the GB "summary". Should be interesting though, I think even I've forgotten some of the good stuff that flew by. Wink [;)]

Hey, speaking of which, you're about to hit FIVE THOUSAND posts!!! Are you planning any sort of armor-buying binge to commemorate the occasion? Big Smile [:D]

Wow, so finished photos don't have to be up until the 2nd? That's a major relief, I'm working my butt off trying to finish up my MiG, and knowing that, I'm almost entirely sure I'll make it! Me and the girl are in a hotel right now, I brought the 360 to keep her entertained while I work on my bird. Tonight I'm getting the decals on, and hopefully sealing the deal tomorrow. I apologize for the lack of DECENT photos, but as always, I'll do my best. Thanks to everyone for the helpful advice thus far.

We better get a contract written up before next year's WW GB Wink [;)]

I may post pictures of my StuG minus the tracks - they're still steel colored, and will be for a while. My cat knocked the small amount of MIG Russian Earth pigment I had left onto the floor, where it created a nice muddy-looking mess, about what I'd envisioned my tank tracks looking like. And of course the closest hobby shop that stocks MIG is over an hour away...

I was planing to half-bury the model in a sea of mud/snow, so I'll probably have to add the tracks at the same time I finish the base...which won't be for a while.

For every modeling technique that works, I have three that don't.

Hermes - will you at least be able to mount your tracks so it gives the impression of being finished? Whistling [:-^] I think you missed a golden opportunity to go play with your StuG. You could have made a bunch of tank noises and DRIVEN it right through your MIGs...an expensive method of applying pigments, I know, but how much more fun is THAT? Big Smile [:D]

Fyuri - glad to hear it! Can't wait to see the MiG!

Sorting through my finished Stuka pics now...will upload as soon as my dialup lets me. Wink [;)]

Well fellas it appears that I have some pics to post here of a certain Hasegawa Ju-87B2 Stuka (in 1/48 scale). Utilized the "hairspray" method to flake the whitewash, but let me tell you that next time I either a) need to use more hairspray or b) need to put on less whitewash because it was HARD to get that stuff off. I can't believe I didn't rip off any of the base layers of paint while I was scrubbing so vigourously with various implements of destruction. Evil [}:)]

The build is done other than the potential addition of a stretched aerial I may or may not add, I need to determine a) what the color would be and b) if I have any sufficient materials to construct said aerial. Of course, if I totally messed something up that you guys see, I would probably fix any errors as well...Wink [;)]

So here it is. ALLLL comments, jabs, criticism, and unwarranted praise accepted. Big Smile [:D]

Wow, Awesome job there fella. I must admit, i was expecting it to be a 'Tad' more distressed, but as ive never tried the Hairspray method, im clueless as to the How to do.

Cant fault it though, Marc. Very sweet bird. As for the ariel, i used invisible mending thread on mine. Looks fine. I think the ariel in real life was a thin strand of metal. But hey, what do i know LOL

Great work Dupes!  I'm glad my Pz.Kpfw. 38(t) won't be on the receiving end of that predator!

I finally have the tracks cleaned up and ready for assembly.  I wanted to assemble them last night but my wife and I spent several hours taking more things down, clearing the shelves of heavy and fragile items and boxing them up to protect them just in case.  The house just doesn't look the same now Sad [:(] but we'd rather not take any chances and at least try to minimize the damage and potential costs of "the big one" hits.  We've had a lot more little tremors over night and this morning, but other than a 3.0 yesterday afternoon nothing has really jossled the house too much.  Thank goodness!!!  I don't ever even want to go through another 4.7 again, that was more than enough for us.  Shock [:O]

Anyway, I'm going to assemble the tracks this evening and get a coat of paint on them. I also plan on doing the white streaking tonight.  I'll have pics of my "completed" entry sometime tomorrow.  Whistling [:-^]

Hey Luftwoller, Check out The Doog's tutorial over in the Autos forum, granted it's on a car but the same principals apply. Heres a link:

/forums/3/924277/ShowPost.aspx#924277

(scroll about halfway down the page)

It should explain how to do it if your interested in learning.

Hey guys, thanks for the comments! Big Smile [:D] Lufty - I also was expecting it to be a bit more "distressed", but the hairspray method was a bit more difficult than I thought to pull off. Maybe I needed to use several coats for easier removal? Slightly_Altered got a great result with it - Dale you still poking your head in here? I was thinking of trying to do the "field-applied" method like in one of the pics you sent me, but couldn't work a way out (at least with my airbrush) to make it look convincing. That would certainly added to the level of "distress". Heheheh. Wink [;)]

By my clock here there's only 8 hours of Winter Warriors remaining (more if you're in, say, a Nevada time zone...Whistling [:-^]) so use them wisely! Tomorrow's picture day for a lot of people! Cool [8D]
