Well I was able to quickly snap some shots of my Strv.103B today but they're not of the best quality because it was cloudy today and they turned out quite dark, but since I can't get the camera again till next weekend and by then the GB will be over, this is the best I've got till then.

I was going to put some snow on it in places but It appears I won't have enough time. Anyway, that's my entry. So can I collect my badge now?

Scott - looks great! Hopefully you had a good weekend banging out those tracks...really looking forward to the finished product! Big Smile [:D]

I've been going nuts on my build, making good progress. Couple of minor decal setbacks, but we'll see if you guys notice or not. Heh. Wink [;)] Am now 100% certain I'll be done for "picture day" on Thursday. Thumbs Up [tup]

Thanks Ernest.  Smile [:)]

I'm getting ready to head downstairs to finish up the tools and do the next layering of weathering.  I need to get crackin' on those track links!  They've all been snipped from the sprue and now need to be cleaned up with a sanding stick.

It's so beautiful outside, maybe I'll sit out on the deck while I sand 200+ very tiny links......  Whistling [:-^]

Wow!  Looking great Scott!  I love that faded white coat and it looks like all the preshading and highlighting is still visible!!  Looking forward to the finished build!!

Here are some photos after I sprayed the light whitewash coat and did some paint chipping.

Up next is some more weathering, oil washes, dot method with white oilsand mist coat for blending so it will be a bit whiter when I'm all finished.  And of course I need to paint the springs, muffler, tools and PE leather straps.  I'm getting there slow and steady!

It must be fun to do PE during an earthquake Tongue [:P]

I did finish my StuG, just need to clean up my modeling room so the photo booth is accessible...which may take a few days. Do we have to have photos posted by the deadline?Big Smile [:D]

6 days?  Sigh [sigh]

I didn't get any work done last night other than snipping the individual track links from the sprues.  We've been having a cluster of earthquakes in our neck of the woods with the epicenters about 3 miles from our house.  There was a 4.1 and a 4.2 yesterday afternoon, caused a little damage at the house.... a few broken dishes and a bunch of stuff fell in my wife's closet.  My den only had a few things knocked over thank goodness.  There was another strong one in the middle of the night that woke my wife and I out of a dead sleep.  Shock [:O]

The latest update:

Got a bunch of stuff done after the white coat, but that's all you get to see for now. Note to self - don't bother spending so much time on the underlying splinter camo next time. Taped Shut [XX]

Note to everyone else - SIX BUILD DAYS REMAINING! Shock [:O] Followed by picture posting day on Thursday, the 1st of May. I suppose one could call in sick on Thursday to get some last minute work done, but it isn't really recommended to wait until then. Wink [;)]

Also, even cheapo Digi's have a Macro function. This will be a button that looks like a Magnifying glass.

Also, make sure your focus point isn't somewhere behind the object you're photographing.  That's one of the most common reasons for blurriness.  It can be fixed by setting the F-stop to the highest setting (usually 8 with average digitals).

Are you using a tri-pod?  That is essential when taking photos in low light or with longer exposure times.

Alllllrighty. Just realized that I neglected to post the base coat pic from Tuesday evening...you'll have to live with the splinterized photo from Wednesday. Wink [;)]

Tonight I'm going to shoot a layer of future in hopes that it will help defend the lower layers a bit against the rubbing that will occur after the hairspray/whitewash combo. Any other suggestions as to how I might keep everything together using the hairspray method?

Fyuri - first off, you don't HAVE to pre-shade the panel lines. If you're capable enough with an airbrush, doing that makes it so your individual panels have a bit of "depth", but it's not a necessary step. If you're a priming kind of guy, do that first, then the pre-shade. After that just fire away with your base coat! Some (most?) people hit their a/c with a layer of Future before decaling, usually with another layer after decaling, and then a dullcoat as the final step.

Hey guys,

Just wondering how horribly out of my element and skill class I am, all I have left is to assemble the gear, drop the pit in, and start the mass-painting. I am going to get photos most likely tonight, and hopefully get the painting going tomorrow or Friday. I am curious if this is enough time to finish, and if anyone could spare the few minutes, could someone point me to the different coats, and what's involved in them? I noticed with dupes', you laid out the panel lines first with a dark (black?) shade, I am just wondering what comes after that. I really hope I can pull this off, I kind of jumped into it without realizing what's involved, but it's still fun trying!

Thanks in advance!

Panzer88 - it's actually the Hasegawa kit. Side note - SMJ Modeler is in your neck of the woods today - said he was going to try to look you up if he had time. Wink [;)]

Thanks guys.

It looks like the numbers on the back turret have finally hunkered down over the bolts.  Tonight I plan on cleaning off the Micro-set residue and spraying the base layer of the white wash.  I hope to make it look fairly worn so that a decent amount of the gray is still showing through.

I have a lot of work to do on the individual track links, which all need to be detached from the sprues and cleaned up.  Good mindless work in front of the TV with my wife tonight.  Whistling [:-^]

Awesome looking 38T espins!!!!!!!!!!! Those yellow numbers look sweet on the grey. You've done a great job with the paintjob too. Bow [bow] You've done some wonderful work.

Dupes your stuka is coming along nicely. I've always had a soft spot for the stuka. Which kit is it, pro modeler? Can't wait to see the end results of both the stuka and the 38t.

Scott, that is soo sweet. Its tiny as well isnt it? Do you have something to compare the size against? That would be cool. Maybe when shes done.

I'll have to do this comparison when the wheels and tracks are on, but this should give you an idea.  Here it is next to my "Das Reich" Tiger I early.  It looks puny next to the Tiger doesn't it?  Shock [:O]

SAR & Guy-thanks.  Been a fun build-streching the boundries (and comfort zone) a bit.

Guy-The 'receipt' is similar-however, I used Mr. Surfacer instead of an acrylic based putty.  Seemed to like the acrylic craft paint though.  I do plan on picking up some acrylic putty though for future projects. As far as the camo scheme, I think it would make better sense if it weren't so badly faded.  The full blown version on the box art would give the illusion of 'tank tracks on the snow' from the air.....in Dupes Stuka...

Scott-Looking good.  Almost a shame to cover it with white......

Dupes-Looks like you are making great progress also.

Bob
