Darrson- for your review and posting on page 1; the Airfix Control Tower with AM bits in the windows from Flightpath. I'm about to scratch another actual Bob- red brick with white window frames. That'll get the full interior I did not use here.

Dave -- I'm sorry I didn't get back on your finished BR-20! It's absolutely amazing, the finish, the scheme (well d'uh!), decals, everything. I think you raised the bar, mate, that one easily deserves to be in the mag. Exceptional work!

Scott -- beautiful work! This kit just builds so sweet, doesn't it?! Nice spray job, the early splinter scheme masks up sharp and neat. Nice mottle, too,  gotta try my hand at one of those jobs. It makes me want to drag out another Tamiya E-3, and I would except I have a dozen other projects in hand.

Mine has a couple of jobs to go, the carbon staining and taking a shot at the antenna wire, I might just devote an afternoon to it and get her finished. I also still have the Do 17 waiting, and fully intend to complete it, so there's still life in this GB!

Hey guys, I'm in the finishing stages of my Bf 109E-3.  I just need to attach the wheels and exhaust, apply the decals and seal this baby up!

To all, an update on my new little one.  I've been sooo busy with him I just don't have much time for surfin the net.  Anyway, Jacob Peter was born 6 days overdue on November 17.  He was even bigger than my first son was.  Matthew just can't enough of Jacob.  I think he heard "stop", "don't" and "gentle" way too much the past month, ahh... 2 1/2 years, a fine age to tax a parents nerves!  All in all he has been very good with the new one, no asking us to take Jacob back to the hospital yet!

 Hope everyone is doing alright and I have not forgotten about modelling, I just don't have the time a tthis point in my life.  I keep checking on this forum though to the keep the embers glowing till the day the fire can be stoked properly.

Dave, that thing is awsome my friend. The paint job is absolutely stunning. How in the world you had the patients to finish that is amazing. I dont have the skills to pull that off. You can be very proud of that build. Great job.

Okay, my turn to drag this thread back up.  I started this build for the 2006 BoB GB and it sat on the shelf until a couple of months ago.  I had a hard time getting the canopy masking off (I put it on in 2006 ) and I knocked a couple of side windows off trying to get the tape off but I managed to get them back in.  It's not perfect but it's done and there is one less shelf queen in my collection.

...and boy am I glad it is on the shelf!!! 

The key to using the monkey wrench like that is to get the prop stick thingy anchored snugly and tightly right in the "croch" of the wrench so it's firmly supported.

Very nice Scott. I too love the model stand. Didnt 'They' say, Necessity is the Mother of invention? Sounds feasible. The paint is looking great. Did the darker colours take much to cover them?

Thanks Dave.  That big monkey wrench is perfect for holding the plane by the prop thingy.  Then I just spin around the lazy susan as needed to spray.

My Br 20 is almost done.  Slowly picking away at the finishing touches.  Just a little bit of panel washing and  staining with a final clear coat beforeI can pull the masks off.  Hopefully this weekend.

Very sharp looking splinter camo work Scott. Nicely done. May I ask what colours are you using, they look a brownish colour or is it just the lighting in the photo. Cant wait to see this one done.

Here is a shot of the splinter scheme, I'm getting ready to mask and spray the sides and undersides as we speak. 

Nice work on the 109 Scott. It will be interesting to see how the paint turns out. Im a believer in lighter colours 1st but hey, im always looking out for new ideas.

 This is a 1/48th scale Lindberg Stuka I just bought around Memorial Day and finished yesterday:

Nice simple straightforward build-everthing went together with little or no fuss.

My type of cockpit interior! Not all cluttered up with fiddley little details to mess up or hide when the fuselage is assembled.

The "flaperons" went on perfectly.

Now for the warpaint-as usual all done freehand by bristle brush, no masking whatsoever.

Then it began, I looked at the box art, instructions, and then the actual decals provided, and none of them added up-So I went to a really neat book I got for Luftwaffe squadrons of WWII for help and inspiration.

The result was I had to remove and re-install the wing bomb racks after the lower wing insignia decals.

To apply the yellow to the lower wings and cowling was simple-with acrylics all I had to do was apply a piece of Scotch tape to the area, and the green paint came off perfectly!

The cockpit framing was a 3:0 AM'er

The challenge was a yellow-tipped spinner with a black-green prop.

For this I put the prop nose down on a paint bottle lid, and slowly poured flat yellow paint into the lid until it reached the right point, then I blotted the tip with a paper towel for excess paint.

The repaired and installed bomb racks with the small bombs in place.

For your information, I got sidetracked when the Lindberg line was re-issued a few weeks ago, and I couldn't resist re-building the JU-87 Stuka.

With darson's permission, I am entering it today.
