Thanks Frank !

Yup it is the famous Donal Smile [:)]. Sure I got thspicture Smile [:)]

Thanks for the info on P7370. It may indicate that both of the Spits were "A".

Until proven "guilty" Smile [:)] I will use ZP*S for my markings.

Sourcer: "Samoloty z Szachownica" #25  ISSBN 1643-5702 pg:27

Priginally piloted by Henryk Szczesny (Polish insignia on a port side. This aircraft had a crash landing on Nov 8, 1940 while piloted by some other pilot. Nice that someone took this picture. It may be only one "marked Polish Spitfire" during BoB. Polish pilots were flying spitfires in 74 and 603. Most  Polish pilots were flying Hurricanes during that time.

Greg,

I did a little more digging, and found this:

The speak of 74 Squadron using the Mk.I until September of 1940, then converting to the Mk.IIa.  After the BoB, they converted to the Mk.Vb.  SO, I think you would be safe making it a Mk.IIa, but for the serial number I'll keep looking.  Hope that helps! Thumbs Up [tup]

Damn!

I've only just spotted this GB, just as I complete my Tamiya 1/48 Spitfire Mk1.

Put me down as a starter.

Haven't a clue what I'll end up building, but I'm sure I'll sort something out.

This sounds like such a neat GB. My main build is going to be a Revel He-111. I have shed loads of AM stuff for it and i also plan on doing a complete rescribe as it has raised panel lines. Should be cool. If times on my side ive got a Hasagawa ME 109E that i will also build. Hopefully (If i can find em) in Gunther Ralls colours. I have a feeling he was the most succesfull BOB pilot.

OK Darren count me in on this one! I just can not resist signing up for a BoB group build. I think I have just the kit for this build. Classic Airframes  65 BoB aniversary edition Hurricane MK I with fabric cover wings. Markings for the 56 Squadron  11 group Rochford Kent August 1940. According to my research even though they had switched production over to metal wings many of the old fabric wing Hurricanes fought on with their fabric wings all through the BoB. Some aircraft received new metal wing upgrades but not all. This particular aircraft did not though it did have its propeller upgraded to the three bladed DeHavilland prop. When I saw my buddy daywaker was sign up then I knew I had to join in! The start date should work out good for me also.

Sure is buddy! I am definitely stoked for it. My build is for sure the Tamiya E-3 in 1/48. I'm still not sure about which scheme I'm using, but I got my references, some nice resin & PE for the 'pit and elsewhere, resin wheels, and a neat set of moskit exhausts I've been dyin' to use! It's been a while since I built a 109 (used to be all I built), so this GB is going to rekindle some pleasant memories for me. Thumbs Up [tup]

Ok I shall try to stay.Approve [^] I can possibly do the Bf-110 C-4 version. But I kinda need help on this one, has anyone ever built the 1.48 Fujimi Bf-110 kit? The color instructions are nonsence. I know what colors the D verson's are but what about the C? Theres four colors. The top is RLM 75&74 but theres another gray. Its called RLM Gray. Maybe I should post pics of the paint scheme.

I've got it narrowed down to 4 choices Frank. Two for sure were involved in the BoB, but I'm not certain about the other two. The time frame seems to indicate that they could have been, but I have no definite proof one way or the other yet.

That would be RLM 02.

I have built the Fujimi 110, really enjoyed it. Looked around at what I have. I have in my mega stash an excellent Edward 1/48 110C and the Reveille 1/32 Me 110 C along with another Fujimi kit. If you would like I could send some pics of their paint schemes directions.

Be careful with kit painting instructions.  The RLM 74/75/76 scheme was introduced very late in the BoB time frame.  Very early in the conflict, they were still painted in the RLM 70/71/65 scheme, but most of the BoB Luftwaffe fighter aircraft were painted in the RLM 02/71/65 scheme.  RLM 02 Grau was the basic cockpit color until replaced by the RLM 66. RLM 02 was also used extensively as a mottle color & for wheel bays & gear door interiors.
