Very nice work on the 'pit there, Frank! If that's any indication of what lay ahead, we're all in for a real treat! Thumbs Up [tup]

OK all you BoB gurus out there, can any of you tell me whether or not any of the following units participated? These are the only markings I have for an E-3.....

2.Staffel - 7./JG77 - 8./JG2 - 9./JG54 - III/JG54 - 1./JG51 - 4./JG54

Frank, looks like you've been up to your usual bag of tricks.  Coming along nicely. Thumbs Up [tup]

Aaron, you crack me up.  I imagine it is going to take you some time to mask that sucker so I'll sing along too if you like and if it'll help.  Headphones [{(-_-)}]

I managed to finish up the cockpit on my 109 tonight, here it is:

Mostly OOB, with home-made seatbelts/hardware, foot restraining straps on the rudder pedals, added detail to the gunsight including reflector plate glass, and painted instruments with epoxy lenses.  I also glued the fuselage halves together last night, and plan to attack that tonight.  If all goes well, I'll be able to install the office and glue on the wing tonight. Thumbs Up [tup]

Karl I know the feeling, I've still got my Hurricane from the last GB sitting forlornly in a box waiting for the Ultracast resin doo-dads to be added.

Darren, I know what you mean about everybody else's progress.Shock [:O] See how shocked I look!

I'm still trying to finish up small Gallic odities and Japanese Hellcat fodder! Not alot of progress on either this week due to being on an ITIL SAM course.

I am going to follow Dave's example and resurrect an incomplete build from a previous BoB GB, namely my Hasa 1/72 He111P. It's languished in the cupboard for the last 2 years, with a great set of AIMS decals.

Not sure if I'll do this before or after the Hurricane, who knows!

Hi guys, geez I slip away for a couple of days and bang there's more progress than you poke a stick at, great work all.

Progress wise for me the 110 is coming along slowly but surely but on the weekend I managed to pickup four resin sets from Quickboost which I'll definitely be adding.  The Quickboost stuff is cheap and easy to use and should spark up an already great kit.

Cheers

Hey Mike and Stan I remember reading an article along time ago about adding panel lines with a pencil. I always wanted to try it. It look very convincing to me. Just another option that would be far less stressfull than rescribing.

Crush- It's a pretty decent technique for raised panel lines, as you just highlight them. I wouldn't be into trying it freehand, though. And since my models are all 1/72, I just use paint shading.

Mike, couldn't agree more on rescribing raised panel lines.

I've sanded most of them off the Caudron I'm working on at the moment, and will shade them in with masking tape and Tamiya Smoke, far less stressful!

I'll probably do the same with the Airfix Huricane, I'm nothing if not lazy!

Aaron, hope you beat those nacelles into submission soon, not literally of course!Wink [;)]

Thanks for the comments guys....

Stan- Looking good, you're moving right along.

Aaron- Just a trick of the light on the panel lines, I'm leaving them raised, I re-scribed panel lines once and didn't enjoy it all.  With the right techniques I think you can make raised panel lines look nearly as good as recessed ones.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it it... Cool [8D]

Stan,

I should clarify- the butchered fuselage pieces are in the box, from the Dragon TA-152H with the correct tail.  I can make those work, and the wing (if you can call those awful pieces of styrene that!) are there as well.  I have a bunch of spare parts from the Tamiya D-9, including stabs and elevators.  The Tammy cockpit looks like it will fit with a little finesse.  Looking at the project more closely, I think I could get it built with what I have on hand.  Every time I think about doing it, I look at the awful wing and quietly put it back into the box.

I think you're right on the D-15.  It looks very similar to the 152C-0 with the left side intake and modified cowl.  Also has the 152H tail, and the wide paddle blades.  There are 4 white metal bits in the box, but no instructions came with it so I don't really know what they are for.  Two of them look like boxes for boxing in the shell ejections ports, and the other two are small oval pieces with a curve in them. Confused [%-)]

Frank does it come with the Ta-152 tail? If not then you need a dragon D-12 or Ta-152 kit. The 152-C would of had the 152H type tail rather then the standered steel D-9 tail. I think the D-15 is a D-12/13 with a Db605 engine.

Thanks a lot...LOL!

Here I thought I had a sooper-dooper rare version of the 109. Sigh [sigh]

Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

I have a Trimaster TA-152C-0 that looks to be quite the project.  I bought it sight unseen from a guy and it turned out to be a mixed blessing.  Thought I was buying that kit plus a couple of extras, but in reality it is the kit minus the Dragon donor kit.  But, inside the box I found two sets of Moskit exhausts (one for a late 109 and the other for a Spitfire) a resin wood tail for the Tamiya FW-190D-9, resin FW-190D-15 conversion kit, and a few other pieces.  All in all, not bad!  Just gotta find a reasonably priced Dragon Dora Donor kit and I'm in business. Thumbs Up [tup]

Those dragon kit are real nice, IF you can get them assembled. I have about 6 in my stash. and have built quite a few but the 262 is way bad even for a dragon kit.

Soulcrusher, you got up side of that trade.

Waiting for paint to dry...

Thanks for the info on the books Stan. As for Dragon I have the 1/48 Fw 190 A-8. I put on the bench clipped the parts and began to dry fit the major assemblies. When I saw the massive amount of work it was going to take to build it i put the parts back in the box and put it back in the stash pile. Then made a trade with my buddy a Hasegawa Hurricane MkII d for a Tamiya Fw 190 A-3. Enought said.

I am working on (when I feel like it) dragon me262 mistel. it like putting together a wicker chair after someone blew it bits with about 100 lbs of tnt. Plain and simpley nothing fits. If I didn't know better I'd think I have parts for 3 different kits. I'm so Banged Head [banghead] at it it went back in the closet again.  I'm also working on a resin 1/32 fw190D-11, Talk about punshment. I started this taniya kit and built the thing it about 8 hours.

Ok now that the off topic rant is over, I'll go on to this.  Kinda off topic I know, but still on the same subject matter. I was asked to review 2 books. I have say that one book it way off. the second book this one is excellent. If like BOB you might want to pick this up. Very well researched and writen. Goes over everthing from pilot training/ accounts, tacticts, aircraft pros and cons and . It can be had for under 20 dollars. I figured since this is the BOB build I'd give you all a first heads up.

Spitfire VS BD109 battle of Britain by tony Holmes

On the spine it reads Duel 5. I can only assume this means there are at least 3 others out there I don't know about. The other one I read Mustang VS fw190 is a joke don't waste your time. I'll post details to this one in the aircraft forum.

Well you know the one I built and have 3 more to go. Everything you have heard is probably true but it gives you a real sense of accomplishment when you get one done. Kinda like running a gauntlet. I bet with your mad skill you could pull it off beautifully!
