**Official** junior modeller group build thread!

Well, went out and took a picture for the Badge, edited it, a bit more editing, and done.. You lads like it? :)

And yes, only editing is text and a bit cutting. The background was behind the plane all the time when I took the picture.. Good sky now :) 

GREAR work on the panther  Taco! it's a cool coulor! I like the dirty side skirts. 

Oh ya about the music thing... Slipknot!!!  are osemness!! so are korn and drowning pooland system of a down! 

Try to paint most edges with some metal colour.. Then it looks better :)

And for what I listen too, as the WWII geek I am, usually pre-1945 music. Many different ones.. For new music, Status Quo, as my dad.. and some other things.. :) 

chipped paint is what i was thinking, but i can never get the right look.  any suggestions?

smjmodeler posted a thread awhile back about an "urban camo" panther.  I took that idea and rolled with it since it looked so cool.

for the badge, I used photobucket to edit a photo of my finished stuart.  I shrank the pic down to a reasonable size (it's still too big in my opinion) then added 2 text boxes to it and wrote "Jr. Modeler GB 07-08" or something.

Looks good, but it need more chipped paint.. just a bit of mud isn't enough for weathering! :P

And was really any Panthers painted Grey? Not sure myself.. I doubt it tho'..

And another question, how do I do the badge for this GB? :) 

alright, and now for another lump o' metal.  Tamiya's Panther A.  It's painted panzer grey (not accurate i know, but it looks cool).  Side skirts are scratched using sheet styrene.  I feel like the tank could use something more, but i'm not sure what. 

All comments welcome. By the way, Jagdpanther, i focused many shots on the places where dirt, grime, etc. would gather realistically.  When i first started weathering, it really helped me to have a reference to look at.

haha, the stuff i listen to would scare small children into a coma lol.

alright here goes:  Verse (big on them right now), Gallows (simply terrifying), One Dead Three Wounded (wow), Comeback Kid (powerful stuff right there), In Flames (euro-metal), Ceremony (i can't understand what they're saying, but it's got a nice rythm), and of course, the best band from down under The Living End (i have all but one of their albums).  so i'm into the punk and hardcore stuff.

Another thing jadgpanther-try washes and drybrushing before the pastels or MIG pigments. That way it will look weathered without being too heavy. THere have been several good articles about that stuff in FSM in the last year.

Also since we are all about the same age and seem to have similar interests, waht are your guys favorite bands or singers? for older stuff, I love The Who and Led zeppelin. As for new stuff, I really like Breaking Benjamin

Maybe you could take a stiff brush and grind some of the mud off.  then it would look like the mud had chipped with time and action.  that would be a cool effect. 

Hey, i'm almost done with the panther.  It's been built painted and weathered, but i feel it's lacking in...something.  I'll post pics soon so i can get some feed back.

Yeah Hu xy, the weathering is overdone but MIG pigments are the best.

huxy, if you are using acrylics you do not need to coat the entire model with future. Just where the decals go.

but that is only if you use an oil wash. Nice plain huxy.

I picked up an Academy 1/72 F4F-4 plane, simply because it was the cheapest WWII plane avalable at the online store. Costing 2,5£, roughly $5, and moulded in 1987 I didn't expect good quality. but wow, it was way better than I tought, and I had no problem with the fit either. However the pilot was poor so I didn't have him, and theres no cockpit. just a simpleseat with a joystick. the engine was also nice, but not "real". Well, it was a fun build and I will be building more planes from now on!  Also, I build this for the Junior GB.

So as my first plane, I need constructive comments to improve on further builds.

whoa, jagdpanther, i just checked the build list, and YOU HAVE THE DRAGON MAUS!!!! is it the 1/35?  if so, were did you get it?  i want to build one of these soooo bad.

I'm still here, I just havn't posted anyting as I am still waiting for the Friuls for my Challenger to arrive, but with the short timeframe of this GB I might just have to start building the rest of it and build the tracks when they arrive. Great work on your HMMWV so far btw, the M-16's are a nice addition.
