Got this beast pretty much done. Added the weld seams to the grab handle's and lifting-tow hook's. All's that's left are the fuel drum's and road wheel hub's which will be done tonight.

Looks like I might be able to get some paint on this guy some time this weekend.

Very interested to see how well you can duplicate that criminally difficult paint scheme. Fire away, brother! Big Smile [:D]

Hey panzerguy, I would recommend the silly putty, if you're using acrylics. I've used it with a biplane and the edges came out nice and sharp. It was real easy to use. Roll it into thin strips press it onto the area you want masked, paint, remove.  Don't know if I would recommend it with enamels, depending on the thinner used may turn the silly putty into silly poo!Whistling [:-^]

be looking forward to updates Tuesday. Have a safe one!

Steve - I'm usually quite fired up to attempt tough wacky paint schemes...but I really haven't got my head around how I would try to replicate that swirly look on there. Very interested to see what you can do with it. Thumbs Up [tup]

Caught some of a show on the Military Channel this morning - called Battlefields: The Battle of Berlin. They tend to show things in bunches, so if any of you get to check it out, it's worth it. TONS of good footage of T-34/85's and IS-2's rumbling around. Juicy! Big Smile [:D]

I've had that saved on the DVR for a while, there is some great footage in those episodes!  Cool [8D]

Well I finally broke open my Dragon T-34/85 and got a little accomplished. It looks like a straight-foward kit,I am just a little concerned about the magic tracks even though I read a lot tutorials, and the PE which is fairly new to me.But I am hoping for the best and we'll see what I come up with.

Frickin great documentary. I used to have it on VHS until it went belly-up on me. I'm still waiting for it to come out on DVD in bulk. You can get some individual episodes, but they are expensive.

Looks great!

My little 1:72 Italeri JS-2 is now being painted. Surprisingly the link and length tracks went on with only a little fuss, thanks to Doog's method.

The Gaz-67B is finished as well.

Cheers

Mike

Managed to get some paint on last night.

Started with a coat of Model Master dark green with a little bit of flat black added. After that had dried I did some shading using flat black.

Next using the same color as the base coat I sprayed it again hitting the flat areas while just misting the nooks and cranies as well as the weld seam's.

In this pic the lower hull is shaded while the turret has had the second coat applied.

Heres a couple more pic's all painted up

Well now it's on to the fun part....Cammo Time!

Sir Panzerguy:  Really like that first photo, nice to have the turret next to the hull in different phases of completion.  Looks like you've got some interior work going too, I like itThumbs Up [tup]!

Flat black shading!?...I'd expected that it would be too much contrast, but it looks great!

  Mobious thanks man.

SMJ... Sir Panzerguy?lol  The "interior work" is just some sheet styren that was added to close off the hull.  For a dark color like this green or a panzer gray the flat blk works great.

I was kinda thinking about sneaking up on it and trying to catch it off guard Whistling [:-^].

panzerguy  Your JS-2 is really looking good.  Like the others can't wait till you get the crazy paint job on her.  It looks like a ton of fun.Whistling [:-^]  Better you than me.Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

And here is my Brandenberger Tiger.  The Master Club tracks were very nice.  I just messed up by using a thin CA.  Don't know what I was thinking on that one.  And ended up gluing serveral tracks together and then breaking them. Censored [censored]Banged Head [banghead]

Then only thing not on her is the antenna.  I don't add them till the end.  I'll break them off and have to reglue them.  Just like the tool box straps on the rear of my tiger.  I think I broke that one off at least 8 times.

Enough words here she is, beautiful tiger queen.Propeller [8-]  Sorry, about that.

And as always, all coments and critisim is welcome.

Sorry, dupes about the amount of pics.

Beautiful paint job on the JS-2 Panzerguy!   I like the effect of the pre-shading.

Nice work on the Tiger Moose!  Your Tiger looks like it's been through a lot, very nice!

Moose, The tiger really is a beauty, she's looking great. Paint really looks blended very well. The MC tracks look very detailed. One question, I'm not familiar with the Master Club tracks, just wanted to know why use CA on the tracks?

OBTW, That's not nearly enough pics!

Mobious  I neded the CA for the two small track pins that hold the track links together.  The instructions called for a 0.6 mm drill bit and the closest I had was a .63.  So there was a little slack and needed to be glued.  Otherwise the tracks are beautiful.

Thanks for all the great comments so far.

Keep up the great work everyone.

  Thanks everybody

Moose the tiger came out great love the weatheringThumbs Up [tup]

Well I painted up the turret on the JS2 and I'm not happy.  The tan doesn't look right and I'm not happy the way the drk brown stripes came out.

Imo I think I could have done it with my AB with out the silly putty. And to be honest I was liking that green. It really showed off the casting texture on the hull and turret. Guess I'll sleep on it and decide tommorow.

Hehehehe...no worries, man. 4-6 finished pics is fine, it's when people throw down 10...12...20+ pics that just make me have to ignore the post. Wink [;)]

Looks awesome! Very beat up, in a convincing way. You going to do a base for that puppy? It certainly deserves it! Big Smile [:D]

Steve - I think you should try to freehand it w/the AB. Masking all of that stuff is going to take you forever.

moose421: Where did you come from dude?!  I've seen you post here and there and then it seemed like a wave of good stuff you produced showed up.  I recall some top-notch PE work, etc...now BAM!!!...this beauty...I REALLY like this one moose!  The missing fenders really compliment the amount of wear you portrayed.  All sides of the build are addressed well, but that last picture is by far the best.  I like the pastel work around the exhaust and the amount of dirt and grime build-up is just right.  Unfortunately the track problem shows up on the back of that left-side track, but hey...happens to all of us.  Be proud of this one...well doneThumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]!

Little suggestion...watch those kinks in the tow cables..they detract a bit from their realism.

Sir Panzerguy...like that one, huh?...after that AMPS East repeat I felt the need to show respect...I'll go back to just plain panzerguy now, OK?:  I feel your pain on the JS-2 paintjob...It looks "off"...somewhat cartoon-ish.  I'm sure the weathering would tone it down a lot, but I think you had something really nice going already.  Are you considering a re-paint back to dark green with flat black shading or what?

panzerguy, Don't jump the gun on the Three-Tone camo yet. You may want to hit it again, making your green/brown stripes larger. Looks to me from the reference pic it's about equally divded into thirds or close to it. The texturing should show thru with washes and drybrushing. Just my My 2 cents [2c]

Dupes heres the deal I'm going back to the green.  The tan has a funky tinge to it because of the green underneath. Also this pattern was used by a polish unit in the summer of 44. Even though this unit entered Berlin I'm not to sure they were still painted this way when they did. So in keeping in the spirit of the GB the green is in. Also PM coming your way

I think I would have had better results if I gone with a tan base coat. Oh well live and learn right?

SMJ if I take it next year then will go with the sirWink [;)]

Mobious not giving up just putting it off till another daySigh [sigh]

I have 3 series: "World at War" and "World War I" narrated by Robert Ryan, and "Victory at Sea". Three of the best IMO.
