Seahawks? Redskins? Both of whom made the playoffs last year, and you say you don't have a team?Shock [:O]

For every modeling technique that works, I have three that don't.

Well, the Seahawks anyway. Wink [;)]

Perhaps T-man is referring to the impending departure of aforementioned Seahawks if they don't get a new stadium...? Shock [:O]

So I'm reading Willi Fey's book right now, right in the chapters about the final fighting around Berlin.  Truely amazing book thus far.

Problem is, it's really making me want to get cracking on this build, and re-evaluate my choice of kit to something a little more battle tested....

Hahaha, fortunately for me the NY Giants of all teams is my favorite NFL team. Huh? Yah, I hit the lottery in last season's Super Bowl. I'm a Portland transplant and still consider myself an Oregonian. I live in a large suburb of sorts (4th largest city in Washington). We'll never have a pro-team outside of my beloved Trailblazers.

Actually, it's the Supersonics. the NBA is leaving for Oklahoma City. LOL I love the Portland Trailblazers and we will win the title in the next 3-5 years. Mark my word, we are a team on the rise.

Hey guys, Im sorry to say it but I think I have to pull out of this group build. I was going to build a panther, but since Im moving into college this september I really wont be building too much until I get settled in, and even then there will be tons to do. So Im going to try and build up all my remaining tanks in the next few weeks. Sorry again, I really wanted to be a part of this build.

Hey MG42, don't give up yet! While you're going to be busy out of your mind in college I'm sure, you're going to have plenty of time at home with your parents...and trust me, you'll be bored! Plenty of school vacations between now and the 8th of May! That Panther will be calling to you! Wink [;)]

Actually, we'll all be surprised to see how quickly May 2009 gets here.....Whistling [:-^]

On that note, I've decided to build a King Tiger hopefully representitive of one of those of Spz Abt 503 in Berlin in the closing days.  The kit is the Dragon 1/35 Battle of the Bulge King Tiger with decals ordered from Bison...at least I think....sent the order & payment two weeks ago and haven't heard any response yet.....

Hi Bob. Lucky dog! I've tried to win one of those off of ebay, but they continue to go for a pretty sum, this despite the release of the zimmed offerings. I will keep trying.

The Battle of the Bulge King Tiger is available on the Dragon site right now, on sale for $25.99.  I'm actually building it now for the Big Cats build.  Great kit.

I'm just stuck on those darn Dragon Tracks.....

Heres the link.

Thanks for the link. It appears you need an account there. How much would postage be?

$6.25 on Fedex ground. (only option)  I've gone straight through the Dragon site, and they are pretty quick.

Or, free shipping on orders over $99.  Smile [:)]

Thanks Glamdring for the link.  I noticed that on the Dragon web site after I had committed to my LHS for them to order.  However, the price delivered was $35.-, so I don't feel so bad.  Also, helping to keep my LHS around....hopefully.  Of course, I find myself looking for bargins on eBay and using my LHS for paint and other supplies.  Hope to start ordering more AM accessories thru them though.

You're very welcome!  They run some great deals through the Dragon Marketplace every few weeks.  They're usually older kits, but still usual Dragon gems.

Yeah, I don't buy any kits anymore from the LHS, just paint, magazines, and supplies.

LOL. Thank goodness, I was able to finish one of my own GB's on time for a change. My last one ended up in the box and maybe into the landfill.

This is why I'm not a fan of GB forum. Little to no activity and the thread disappears.

I'm reading my Fall of Berlin, by Antony Beever, that I mentioned earlier in the thread and I can't put it down. It's absolutely addictive reading. So comprehensive and entertaining.

I was at Barnes & Nobles yesterday and picked up this book!  I'm looking forward to reading it, I didn't realize it was by the same author of Stalingrad which I read a couple of months ago!  Thanks for the recommendatons guys!!

I really enjoyed both of those books and am glad you're liking them too.  Big Smile [:D]

Sorry I haven't been around much the past few weeks.  I'm up to my eyeballs in work and family responsibilities.  Things should be settling down a bit for me now so I hope to be on here at least daily again.

 Hello everyone,

I'm half finished with "Battle of Berlin" and I'm amazed at what I would call war crimes were acknowledged as heroic, even as late as 1990. The devestation must have been total in E.Prussia. Anyway I should be finished before the start date and thanks again bufflehead for the recomendation. I thought a dio with the "Rag Tag Circus" would be neat to do, but a little(maybe way) off topic.

You are obviously referring to the rape and pilage. Yes, it must have been devestating. The tale of the refugees might have been worse than in Russia, that is, all the people fleeing.

I won Stalingrad and look forward to that book.

I just finished "Inside the Bunker", by Jochim Fest. Really interesting accounts of the last days and much of what he wrote were inspiration for the excellent movie "Downfall". If you haven't seen that movie, for gosh sakes do. Bruno Ganz is simply unbelievable as Hitler.

My mother (6 or 7 at the time) and her family lost everything, and I do mean everything, to the Russians in 1945.  They eventually made it out of East Germany in 1946 near the town of Gottingen.  The stories they have told me were very interesting and make me realize how good we all really have it now.  man oh man....

Just a update from me.  My Tiger Model Design parts just arrived today.  Like a kid on Christmas, I tore into the box.  WOW, this is some very nice resin parts.  I order the coupla, frontal armor and correct mallet (#7) for the early tiger.  I am now just waiting for the Lion Roar PE and the start of the GB.  I might have to buy the fall of berlin or one of those books.

Till the start and next time.

Wow Scott,  I imagine you have some serious stories. Was everyone okay? Did the whole family escape?

You bet!  I'll get you on the roster now.

On another note, I may be a bit slow to respond this month due to work demands and the power supply in my main PC at home crapped out Sunday night and I haven't had a chance to replace it yet.
