It's one of the favored garage kit sellers. (no recasts)

If you're interested in garage kits than I would suggest registering at the clubhouse forum.

You have to sign up to view the forum.

I've looked at a number of figure forums and the clubhouse is the best.

Be fowarned garage kit's tend to be on the expensive side.

This is what I learned doing the scribing on mine (first time attempting it)

When doing the scribing us the back of the blade preferably one with a missing tip.

Go slow against a metal straight edge, if nessesary tape it in place so it doesn't slip.

Don't press hard, it's better to make several passes to get the depth you want.

Make sure the map out lines go just past each other so you can see where you have to start and stop.

I love the garage kit hobby, i had a bunch of female figure kits, all of the amazing figure modeler mags, but found out i was horrible at painting figures, got frustrated and sold all my kits on ebay. Now i regret it as I have understood that any hobby just needs practice and I should have stuck it out till i got better. Yes they are very exspensive but if your good at it very worth it. Im just gonna concentrate on plastic till i get my nerve up (and money) to give resin a try again.

Im gonna try the scribing tonight. Ill post pics of my progress later on in the morning.

In the last 2 years I have bought about 2 dozen girl kit's.

Non of them are painted yet (that whole fear factor).

Only three are ready for paint as all the others are in some form of assembly, since being girl kit's they have to be perfect before the paint can go on.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.Whistling [:-^]

Sounds like me to a t. I had about 2 dozen kits, all pinned and prepped and primed, tried to paint a few and thats when i got frustrated. The prices i paid and the prices i got for them i basically gave them away, now i wish i had not sold them. But you live and learn. Someday Ill give it another shot. I know about the fear factor however...

Well small update. Got all the panels lines layout ready to scribe, on the airbrake section already scribed that, not that you can see it from this photo thou. Now to just match the other side....

The lines near the front are not an exact match to the studio model as my access panels had to be brought farther down the side to have a little room for depth.

I finished most of the scribing on the left side of speeder and airbrake section, the only other thing i got done this weekend is I added some more detail in the air brake opening.

Here are a few more shots of the mock up...

If you have noticed all ready the power coupling is upside down and is for the other side, didn't notice that until i looked at the photos online. However its just a mock up and hasn't been glued yet.

Just a little update. Did a little work to the canopy section, added treadplate and beefed up the hinges with pieces from the suspension of a tiger tank in 1/72. And also thinking of adding parts to the lower sections of the speeder from the same 1/72 tank model kit. Made the door for the engine access panel.

Update: i finished scribing and detailing the under side of speeder, finished scribing the top of speeder and started to paint the engine area and airbrake area. Will have photos of it tomorrow when the sun comes up.

I have a motivation to get this baby done now. My lhs just announced a June 13th model contest and that is the date im shooting for to finish. That is if im not rushing the project and not doing my best on the completion.

I still have to plan out the battle damage and weathering for the exterior. I won't have a base made for it june 13th, that will be for a later date and Ill keep my progress on the dio here and in the dio thread...

I finished the scribing on the upper surface and the lower surface of the craft, and added a bunch of holes. Finish the interior painting, install the interior then i can put the two halves together. I have decided to repaint the engine area greys and blacks as if every open hatch will be to much being all red. Pics to come soon, as I am away from home currently.

Getting there,  but do not think Ill make the contest this saturday Sad [:(]. I don't want to rush it then feel that I could have done more to it or did a crappy job finishing it. I still have to give it a little battle damage, althought now it seems hard to beat it all up after all this work.....

You might be sick of seeing teaser shots with not much progress going on but i got a new camera that takes better closeups and I wanted to post a few more close up shots before the final stage is complete, this has been a real long build for me.

I haven't forgotten about this build, however another build has caused me to put this one kinda on the back burner as I prepare my next project. I will have a few updates soon.

Ok someone has to stop me,. I sat down to work on this baby last night and couldnt get out of the mode of adding more detail to it. I think i have reached the point that I am over doing it here......

I took a good look at it and think it is getting to be a bit much and I hope that i didnt over clutter it.....

I am planning on the next time that I touch it to finally just paint it and start the final assembly. Hopefully I can resist and pack all my stash of detail parts and just finish this thing finally.

well if your super detailing it, your trying to make it look real. Now if the real one is cluttered on the inside, why shouldnt the model of it?

Thats just it, the original from the movie pics and other reference is some what detailed but on this build i went with my own design, I'm not trying to replicate the original or the studio model. I have to stop adding details upon details and just get it finished.

I sit down at the bench today and decided it was cluttered enough, broke out the airbrushes and decided to get painting. In the next 2-3 days hope to have some updates with some real progress and hope to finally finish this thing once and for all...

Thank you for following along, its been fun and enjoyable building and updating the project. It's also helped me keep on track. I got some more painting done and will have some updates by tomorrow night. I think I will finally be getting this thing closer to being done.

Well so much for getting any painting done, did some more work on the guns and power couplings. Used some watch parts and other junk. And on the canopy as well.
